Chapter 26 - C26

Yoruha smiled faintly. "Maybe I just have a natural interest in this kind of jutsu, so I understand it more easily."

Kakashi didn't really believe that.

After all, Chidori was an A-rank jutsu—one of the more difficult A-rank techniques, at that.

Lightning Release techniques were already harder to learn than most other elemental styles, and when he had created Chidori, Kakashi himself had still been young. The theory behind it was extremely complicated.

Even for him, understanding it back then hadn't been easy.

Yet Yoruha not only understood it after hearing the explanation once, he also seemed deeply familiar with the technique's fine details—and had even simplified some of its steps. That kind of comprehension couldn't be explained by "good understanding" alone.

Still, Kakashi felt pleased.

Yoruha was like a bottomless treasure trove—always full of surprises.

After gathering his thoughts, Kakashi said, "I'll show you how to actually perform this jutsu. Watch closely—it's very dangerous. One mistake could lead to severe backlash."

Yoruha nodded. He already knew how dangerous it was. It was an A-rank jutsu, after all.

Kakashi walked toward a massive boulder more than two meters tall.

The lakeside rocks were extremely dense—far from easy to break.

Standing before it, Kakashi's gaze sharpened. He raised his hand, fingers curved like claws.

Chakra surged into his palm in an instant.

"Crackle—!"

Blue arcs of lightning began to spark from his hand.

The chakra condensed further, the blue bolts thickening, twisting, and roaring like living serpents.

The air filled with the sound of crackling thunder, and leaves around Kakashi were instantly reduced to ash.

He stood in the center of the storm, arcs of lightning writhing around him like serpents struggling to escape his grasp.

Watching from the side, Yoruha was stunned.

Since coming to this world, he had never seen a ninjutsu this terrifying.

The sheer power of Chidori far exceeded anything he'd imagined. The blue light illuminated dozens of meters around them; even standing ten meters away, he could feel his hair rise and his skin tingle from the static.

Swallowing hard, Yoruha realized for the first time just how terrifying an elite jōnin truly was.

All of it happened in the blink of an eye. Kakashi gathered lightning, and in an instant—

It shrieked like a thousand birds crying at once.

"Lightning Release: Chidori!"

A flash. A thunderclap.

With a low shout, Kakashi vanished in a blur of light.

A heartbeat later, he reappeared dozens of meters away. The boulder before him had exploded into fragments, shards scattering everywhere as the boom echoed across the valley. Even the once-calm surface of the lake rippled with waves.

Yoruha froze. Though he'd jumped back several dozen meters to avoid the blast, he could still feel the pressure from the technique.

"So strong… Is this the power of an A-rank jutsu?"

"It's terrifying. Hard to believe this was created by a twelve-year-old boy."

He finally understood what kind of genius Kakashi truly was.

To develop something so fearsome at that age—that was the weight behind the word "prodigy."

After finishing the attack, Kakashi straightened, shaking out his hand.

Seeing Yoruha standing far away, he smiled. "You're fast. Well, what do you think? Did you catch all that? Should I show you again?"

Kakashi had long grown used to the power of this jutsu.

But Yoruha was still shocked. The destructive force was far greater than he'd expected. Within several dozen meters of the impact point, even the residual blast would cause devastation.

And that was just the aftershock. He could only imagine the despair of being hit by the technique head-on—most people's bodies would be shredded to pieces.

Snapping out of his daze, Yoruha leapt down from a nearby tree.

When Kakashi had launched the attack, he'd instantly used the Body Flicker Technique to retreat to safety.

Now, looking at the shattered remains of the boulder, he couldn't help but sigh. "This jutsu's power is beyond terrifying."

"That's why it consumes so much chakra," Kakashi explained. "Most chūnin would be completely drained after using it once."

Yoruha nodded.

"How about it?" Kakashi asked. "Have you gained any insights?"

Yoruha closed his eyes for a moment. When he opened them again, a faint gleam flashed through them.

Though the technique was complicated, he already understood how to release it.

Kakashi saw the look in his eyes and nodded encouragingly—then paused, realizing what that meant. He gave a wry smile.

"I suppose for others this would be extremely difficult, but for you… maybe not so much."

"Practice it tomorrow," he said, stepping back to lean against a tree. "If you run into any problems, ask me."

He wanted to watch Yoruha train with his own eyes.

Yoruha walked over to another large boulder nearby—there were plenty by the lakeshore.

Kakashi's gaze fixed on him, curious whether Yoruha could really learn it overnight.

Yoruha himself wasn't sure. But he felt he had already grasped the essence of the technique.

In fact, he had a strange sense of familiarity, as if he'd known Chidori for years.

He didn't mention it—it was probably just his imagination.

Standing before the stone, Yoruha began to channel chakra into his right hand.

In an instant, energy surged through his body, condensing into his palm.

Suddenly—crack!

"Zzzrraaa—"

Dozens of lightning bolts as thick as an arm erupted around him, far denser than the ones Kakashi had produced earlier.

Kakashi's lightning had been about as thick as chopsticks.

Yoruha's, however, was the size of a human arm—and the color was completely different.

His lightning was golden.

Kakashi stared in shock.

"W-what is this? How can Yoruha's chakra look like that?"

Yoruha's chakra was unlike any normal shinobi's.

Ordinary chakra, when condensed into physical form, appeared blue.

But Yoruha's chakra was golden, and thus, the lightning it created shone with the same radiant hue.

Even more unnerving—the lightning made only a faint crackle, lacking the piercing shrieks typical of Chidori.

And strangest of all, the golden arcs seemed alive, writhing like serpents and slithering rapidly through the air around Yoruha.

"Zzzt—zzzt—zzzt—"

Yoruha didn't notice the difference between his Chidori and Kakashi's.

All his focus was locked on the boulder several meters ahead.
