Chapter 25 - C25

Kakashi patted Yoruha's shoulder, then turned and walked toward the lakeside.

"Do you think that relying only on my Sharingan, I could earn a certain level of fame in the shinobi world?"

Yoruha stepped beside him, gazing at the lake's rippling surface.

"Besides the Sharingan," he said, "you must have a powerful offensive jutsu to match it, right? After all, you're a jōnin—you wouldn't go without a trump card."

Kakashi glanced at Yoruha and smiled.

"That's right. I once developed a jutsu that was extremely dangerous to use without the Sharingan. But after I received this eye, it became a technique of immense destructive power."

He remembered when he had first created Chidori. Without the Sharingan to support it, the technique had been perilous—one misstep and the enemy could counterattack and kill him.

Kakashi sighed.

"If my former comrade hadn't transplanted this Sharingan into me, I wouldn't be who I am today."

Though the Sharingan consumed a large amount of his chakra, it undeniably raised his upper limits. Kakashi's battle instincts compensated for the chakra drain. As long as he calculated his chakra consumption carefully, the Sharingan became an enormous asset rather than a burden.

Yoruha looked quietly at Kakashi.

Kakashi assumed Yoruha was wondering who had given him the eye, so he explained, smiling faintly, "You want to know who transplanted this eye for me, don't you?"

Normally, Kakashi wouldn't tell anyone. But Yoruha was someone he had already decided to take on as a disciple—he had no reason to hide anything. In some ways, Kakashi valued Yoruha even more than Sasuke or Naruto.

Yoruha blinked for a moment—he'd only been distracted—but since Kakashi misunderstood, he didn't bother correcting him. He simply nodded. "I guess I am a little curious."

Kakashi sat down beside the lake and patted the ground next to him, signaling for Yoruha to sit. When Yoruha did, Kakashi began, "After I graduated from the academy, I was much younger than the others. Because of that, it was hard for me to get along with my teammates.

"I had to wait until my peers—those who entered the academy the same year as me—finally graduated before I could form a team successfully. In a sense, I didn't really graduate early at all."

He chuckled softly.

Yoruha listened attentively. He had assumed Kakashi would go straight into teaching him ninjutsu, not talk about his past. Still, the fact that Kakashi was opening up to him meant he was trusted deeply.

"This eye," Kakashi continued, "was transplanted to me by my friend, Uchiha Obito. Back then…"

He told Yoruha about his time with Obito and Rin, about the mission that had changed everything.

Yoruha already knew the story in broad strokes, but hearing the details firsthand was different.

"This eye," Kakashi said quietly, "was Obito's last gift to me. It's helped me more than I can ever say."

Yoruha's expression stayed neutral, but inwardly he thought, If only you knew what Obito's doing now, you'd probably find what you just said painfully awkward.

Kakashi looked at him seriously.

"I hope you'll protect the friends you cherish," he said earnestly. "Losing them… is a pain you don't ever want to feel."

His voice was sincere. He truly didn't want Yoruha to go through what he had.

Yoruha said nothing, only nodded.

Kakashi stood up.

"Well," he said, his tone softening, "enough of the sad stuff. Do you know why I've decided to teach you Chidori? You don't have a Sharingan—this jutsu is extremely dangerous without it."

He studied Yoruha's face, curious if the boy understood his intentions.

Yoruha thought for a moment. "Because you think my dynamic vision is strong? Strong enough to rival the Sharingan?"

Kakashi smiled and clapped him on the shoulder. "Exactly. When I tested you last night, I noticed your dynamic vision was exceptionally sharp—perhaps even stronger than an ordinary Sharingan's.

"Chidori requires incredible speed and precise perception. You can handle it."

Yoruha nodded. "Still, I imagine it's a hard jutsu to master."

"Correct," Kakashi said. "It's an A-rank jutsu, but without strong dynamic vision, it's practically S-rank. Before you learn it, your body control and movement speed must reach a very high level.

"It also consumes a lot of chakra, though that won't be a problem for you. Your chakra reserves are already on par with a jōnin's. With that much chakra, you could use Chidori around ten times a day.

"I can use it about twenty times, so your chakra is roughly half of mine."

Kakashi didn't yet realize that Yoruha's chakra had increased again. Still, Chidori required less chakra than its evolved form, Raikiri. Chidori was A-rank, Raikiri was S-rank. These days, Kakashi could only use Raikiri four times a day—that's how draining it was.

Yoruha didn't interrupt; he listened carefully.

Kakashi nodded in satisfaction. Yoruha's attitude toward learning impressed him greatly.

"Although Chidori is difficult to learn, you already have all the prerequisites—excellent dynamic vision, strong physical conditioning, and ample chakra. There's no need to train those further. I can start teaching you right away.

"First, I'll explain the principle behind Chidori. Once you've mastered it, I'll teach you its advanced form—Raikiri."

Kakashi's expectations were high. He didn't think Yoruha would take long to grasp Chidori, so he didn't hesitate to mention its next stage immediately.

After speaking, Kakashi began explaining the mechanics of the technique. Compared to ordinary ninjutsu, Chidori was vastly more complex—truly a creation worthy of Kakashi himself. The average person wouldn't even understand it, let alone learn it.

He lectured for over ten minutes before pausing and looking at Yoruha.

"If you didn't catch all that, I can repeat it. It's normal not to understand on the first try—this jutsu is complicated."

Yoruha nodded. "I understood."

To reassure him, Yoruha proceeded to dissect the principles of Chidori in detail, demonstrating a complete grasp of the concept. It was as if he had already mastered it long ago.

He truly had understood it after a single explanation—his comprehension now was far beyond what it used to be, especially when it came to ninjutsu.

Kakashi was stunned.

"If I didn't know for a fact that I've never taught you before," he said, blinking in disbelief, "I'd think you'd already been using this jutsu for decades. You understand it too well."
