Chapter 14 - Chapter 13: New Gundam for Rebels

News of the Colonian blue Mobile Suit's defeat spread quickly but quietly, creating a major upheaval among the Colonian rulers. In one of the hidden bases, in a distant Colony, King Sirius Nelphime of the Mercury Colony was enraged.

He stared at the screen in the control room, which now only displayed the data debris of the Romeo Blu Gundam. "Our Mobile Suit, which was supposed to be our strongest and most hidden unit, was crippled by that White Mobile Suit!" King Sirius yelled, his voice thundering. "And even worse, the remnants of the unit cannot be found! The Mobile Suit has disappeared!"

King Sirius pounded the control desk. He knew this defeat was not only a military disgrace but also a major blow to his ambition to dominate the Colonian Council of Kings. His unit was lost, most likely fallen into enemy hands, while the other Kings on Venus and Jupiter were still preoccupied with the slow Project Grai he despised.

"Track down Wars Stinger and Aya Rose! I want them to immediately report where they left the unit! I don't care about the White Mobile Suit now! The Romeo Blu unit must be found! If the enemy manages to study our technology, Project Archon will face an even stronger unit!" King Sirius commanded. He did not know that the Romeo Blu Gundam had fallen into enemy hands. He could only assume that the Mobile Suit was lost in the Earth's desert.

Meanwhile, on Earth, the rebel forces moved quickly. With the help of the Anveil Corporation's intelligence network, Augustina Mcgraven and her subordinates arrived at the orange rocky wasteland shortly after the White Gundam left. They found the Romeo Blu Gundam lying helpless.

"Secure this unit! Right now! Before the Colonians realize it!" Augustina ordered, her eyes filled with a bittersweet victory. She didn't know which Colony this unit came from; she only knew this was the newest advanced Colonian military technology they had just seized.

A few days later, in the Kimeza family's secret base, the workshop atmosphere was lively and busy. On one side, Zaki and Maki were preoccupied with intensive maintenance on the White Gundam, cleaning up the remaining cosmetic damage and recalibrating the engine after the fierce battle.

"Zaki, we need to re-examine the White Gundam's flight system," Maki said. "That Mega Beam Launcher evasion maneuver was too extreme. We can't risk thruster failure."

Zaki nodded while holding a diagnostic cable. "Exactly. That blue unit was fast, but the White Gundam's engine is still the most agile. We just need to ensure our engine is always in prime condition. Let Mom handle the new Mobile Suit."

On the other side of the workshop, the heavily damaged Romeo Blu Gundam was mounted on the repair dock, surrounded by Airi Kimeza and mechanics from both sides—Kimeza mechanics and Augustina's trained technicians.

Airi looked excited yet focused. This unit was an advanced prototype, far more modern than any Colonian Mobile Suit she had ever seen.

"Incredible technology," Airi murmured, her hand touching the blue Mobile Suit's armor. "Although they redesigned it, the core of this dual engine still uses the same principle as Klaus's. They managed to stabilize immense power. This shows the Colonians are much more advanced than 15 years ago."

Augustina stood beside Airi, her gaze full of hope. "We want this unit to be ours. To be the counter-balance to the White Gundam. Can you fix it, Airi?"

"Just fixing it isn't enough," Airi replied, stroking the Mobile Suit's armor plate. "This unit was designed for aggression, high speed, and two-pilot combat. We must redesign it to be suitable for a single pilot, Augustina, and suitable for you as the command unit for Earth's defense."

The overhaul of the advanced Colonian Mobile Suit began with detailed and intensive planning, led by Airi Kimeza.

Color and Armor: The Colonian identity must be completely erased. The armor was repainted in Sand Yellow and Earth Brown colors, making it an effective camouflage in the Earth landscape. Damaged armor parts were replaced with reinforced Earth metal alloys, maintaining the light weight needed for speed.

Engine and Maneuver System: Airi and the Kimeza technicians worked hard on the dual engine. The system was maintained but re-tuned to reduce excessive energy consumption and prioritize sustained agility and speed, rather than short bursts of firepower. Airi specifically removed the circuit that activated the Mega Beam Launcher, deeming the weapon too risky and impractical for defensive missions.

Thruster Wings and Backpack: The destroyed backpack section (where the Mega Beam Launcher was located) and its old thrusters were completely dismantled. New wing units were installed, redesigned to resemble sleek fairy wings. These wings were equipped with highly efficient secondary thrusters. This gave the Mobile Suit a graceful yet fast flight capability, allowing for superior evasion maneuvers, perfectly suited for an agile single pilot like Augustina.

Single Cockpit: The dual cockpit was dismantled and replaced with a single cockpit. Augustina herself provided detailed input on the ergonomics and control layout, ensuring the unit was fully responsive to a single driver.

This overhaul process took time and drained resources, but the supplies from Anveil Corporation kept the project running smoothly. Zaki and Maki only glanced over occasionally, impressed by their mother's work, but they remained focused on their responsibility—ensuring the White Gundam was always ready for combat.

After the intensive work, the Mobile Suit stood tall in the repair dock.

The unit now radiated a different aura. No longer aggressive and dark, but tough, grounded, and full of energy.

Airi smiled with satisfaction. "This unit has been reborn, Augustina. It possesses re-engineered Colonian strength with the spirit of Earth. Now, it belongs to the Rebels."

Augustina looked at the now sand-yellow Mobile Suit with eyes full of emotion. She spent a few minutes admiring the detail of its new wings. "What name is fitting for a unit born from Colonian brutality and re-engineered with the hope of Earth?"

Maki, who was standing beside her after completing the White Gundam's calibration, was reminded of the warmth of Earth's fields. "Its yellow color reminds me of sunflowers in the summer."

Airi nodded, liking the idea. "From now on, this unit will be known as the Sunflower Gundam."

The Sunflower Gundam was designed for only one pilot, and this unit was exclusively piloted by Augustina Mcgraven.

That evening, Augustina Mcgraven entered the Sunflower Gundam's cockpit for the first time. She felt a significant difference. The controls felt responsive, its engine whispered softly, not roaring like a Colonian Mobile Suit. She felt a strong connection with the unit, a unit that now symbolized new hope.

She glanced to the side and saw the White Gundam standing in its dock, Zaki and Maki now in the cockpit, checking the final systems.

"Thank you, Airi. Thank you, Zaki, Maki," Augustina whispered.

In the base control room, Zaki looked at the sand-yellow unit. "Augustina is ready," he told Maki. "Project Grai is underway out there, and the other Colonian Kings will surely send more units. We need every Mobile Suit unit we can get."

Maki nodded. "With the Sunflower Gundam, we have a chance. Augustina will be a protector for the other Rebels, and a counter-balance for the White Gundam."

Airi Kimeza listened to her children's conversation. She knew that with the Sunflower Gundam's emergence, the war had escalated to the next level. They now had two Gundams on Earth's side, but they faced countless threats from the Colonians, including the unseen threat of Project Grai.

With the Sunflower Gundam in the Rebels' hands, their alliance now had real combat power, ready to face the next wave of Colonian attacks. Augustina, as the pilot of its first Gundam, was now ready to lead the Rebellion into a new era of Mobile Suit warfare.
