Chapter 7 - A World Of Fire And Bones

Dragons?

Who in the Lilith continent hadn't heard of dragons?

It was said that dragons were born from myths, and most could only be found in unique dungeons or A-rank dungeons and above.

Staring in stupefaction at the monstrous creature, Arthur's breath caught in his throat.

The old man in the skies finally showed a drastic change in expression; even his faintly trembling hands betrayed his nervousness...

The dishevelled Netherworld Empress glanced up at him and grinned evilly.

"Old man, you finally realize the source of my confidence, right? Let me show you what a true dragon fire feels like..."

The Netherworld Empress sounded elated as a wave of mana surged outwards from her...

Her mana reserves dwindled rapidly as the undead dragon opened its mouth, and a mass of black fire began condensing.

The old man's face showed a brief nervousness.

Glancing down at the other members of the Pendragon family engaged in battle, his eyes flickered with hesitation for an instant before he waved his wooden walking stick once more.

Swish...

A red light erupted; however, it was vastly minuscule compared to the already widening black flames.

Letting out a screeching roar, the undead dragon finally released the burst of flames from its mouth.

Whoosh...

The whole surroundings immediately erupted into pained screams as the fire engulfed everyone in its path.

The fire was hotter than normal, and as it burnt them, they felt as though a part of their being was being corroded.

The smell of burnt flesh drifted into the air, and in a single attack, more than half of those present were wiped out.

If it wasn't for the old man's strike from before, even more of them would have died.

However, rather than being joyful that they were saved, their eyes showed a look of despair and fear towards the inevitable death awaiting them...

If the dragon could kill so many people with just one attack, did they stand a chance?

Arthur also had similar thoughts as the remaining members of the Pendragon family.

Breathing slowly, he turned to the Dragon Knight, who seemed poised to strike.

"Titan, we have to get out of here..." Arthur knew he couldn't delay anymore.

Only by leaving the Pendragon family entirely and distancing himself from them could he clutch a chance of survival...

He had thought hard about it, but in order to guarantee his safety, he had to let go of those minor emotional entanglements.

Although his decision might seem cowardly, Arthur knew when to fight and when to retreat to recuperate.

Now, he merely wanted to recuperate, come back stronger, and come back for revenge.

Feeling a gust of wind blowing suddenly against him, Arthur subconsciously moved to the side.

He glanced in the direction and noticed a skeleton had skipped past Titan and was attacking him.

Glancing around, he saw a sword that most likely was used by one of the others who had been killed.

Although he was a summoner, due to being born in the Pendragon family, Arthur had been trained in the arts of the sword since he was young.

Now, with a sword in hand and his enhanced physique, Arthur felt stronger than ever.

He swiftly made a sweeping strike.

The skeleton blocked the strike with its bony hand, throwing a bone spike at him.

Dodging to the side, Arthur picked up pace, maneuvering around the skeleton before landing at its blind spot...

Before the skeleton could try to regain Arthur in its line of sight, it was pierced through with something long and hard.

Arthur slashed the sword horizontally, completely killing off the skeleton; however, before he had the chance to celebrate, two more lunged at him.

'Damn, is Titan not handling these things?' Arthur thought and glanced at Titan, only for his eyes to widen further.

Around Titan was a massive mountain of skeleton horde...

It was as though everyone could sense the abnormalities here, causing the skeletons in the surroundings to gather and pour in endlessly...

'So many of them! If it wasn't for Titan, I would have been swallowed whole...'

He felt a shiver run down his spine at the chilling thought.

He watched as Titan moved his massive sword consecutively, directly crushing the skeletons in their path.

Boom!

Flashes of lightning crackled around the Dragon Knight intensely as it spread outwards, completely annihilating more skeletons.

Then, the knight stretched his hand forward, and fire surfaced at the tip of his palm before spreading into the horde of abominations.

Loud screeches that made one's skin crawl resounded as the fire engulfed the skeletons, burning them to ash within a few minutes.

On Arthur's end, he was handling the skeletons that were let loose.

Suddenly, the seductive demon voice from before entered into his mind along with a line of glowing system words.

[Warning: Calamity's mana is exhausted, he will begin using from the host's reserves to sustain himself.]

[Note: When the host's mana is exhausted, Calamity will be sent back to the void]

Arthur didn't have the time to glance at the system notification due to the fact that he was in an intense battle.

However, hearing the seductive voice, he was shocked.

He glanced at the Dragon Knight, which was still struggling with more than 50 skeletons.

It seemed as though the knight had realized the fact that he was using. Arthur's mana as he tried to rationalize it, only making reasonable moves at the appropriate time while using others to just take the hit.

The battle between the Dragon Knight and the skeleton horde was particularly eye-catching and had already caught the attention of the Netherworld Empress, who was engaged in a battle with the old man.

Normally, experts like them wouldn't be concerned with small fries; however, it was hard to ignore a towering knight standing in the midst of a mountain of skeleton bones.

The golden armor filled with battle scars and runes etched on its surface reflected the moon's glow as it fought intensely.

The sharp ringing sound of the metallic sword whistling up into the air disrupted the peace of the night and the growls and screeches of the skeletons.

The Netherworld turned her gaze to the old man...

"You've truly hidden it deeply! To think you would have such a person hidden within the family! Is the Golden Knight your disciple? Are you willing to let him into our family?"

The lady seemed speechless by the knight's fighting power, and the more she studied the Golden Knight, the more she felt unsettled, instead opting to kill it.

Making the decision internally, she waved her hand, condensing a massive spike that was more than ten meters long, radiating an aura of death.

At close range, the spike looked like the arm of a giant skeleton...

She didn't hesitate to thrust the bone spike forward even before the old man could react...

Unfortunately for her, the moment she tossed the bone spike, the world froze!
