Chapter 8 - The verdant crystal realm. 1

Whooormmmmmmm!!!!!

The sound of the portal vibrated from behind as two people spawned out of the purple mass that seemed to appear out of nowhere. Feng Wuji's face was calm, but he felt excited, really excited.

Just as Feng Wuji was trying to gain his composure, a voice sounded from behind him.

"Is that a peacock?"

It was from Dao Maiden Su Mei of the Divinity Halo Sect.

Feng Wuji lived in the Eternal Void Dao Realm, which was ruled by the Void Begotten Dao Emperor. The realm had seven major powers which controlled most of the planet, continents, and secret realms.

The seven forces were:

· The Celestial Lotus Sect

· The Heavenly Charm Pavilion

· The Grand Fate Tower

· The Four Major Clans

· The Underworld Fenrir Clan

· The Tian Empire

· The Divinity Halo Sect

The Divinity Halo Sect had nine Dao Maidens in every generation, and they were always the crème de la crème.

"It is really a peacock. And judging from the gold feathers and its black beak, it should be a Night Sun Peacock, a manifestation of a spirit spring," su mei said with greed flashing deep within her eyes

Feng Wuji looked forward after hearing her words and observed the scenery. They were on a grassland, and right in front of them was a large forest filled with trees that were as large as seven-floored pagodas. The trees had a verdant shade, and each leaf seemed to be filled with vitality.

Just about seven meters was an animal it had gold feathers and seemed regal. It really was a Night Sun Peacock, a rare treasure.

'I want it "' Feng Wuji thought internally.

He ran towards it using a movement technique that made him fast. He suddenly felt danger, he dodged to the side and a ball made of fire shot past his side. More fireballs came, and he avoided them. He then quickly jumped into a tree and looked at the direction the fireballs were coming from.

"Feng Wuji, don't be in such a hurry. Why don't you let big sister have this treasure?" Su Mei said with a calm expression, looking like she hadn't just attacked Feng Wuji.

"You can try to take it," he smirked.

"Really? Then thank you, little brother," she smiled and sped towards the peacock.

Whoosh! A vine that was thick and about eighty meters long suddenly attacked her. She spun around, and the vine missed her slightly. She quickly sent a fireball from her hands towards the place the attack came from, and it was from Feng Wuji. He was holding a talisman, and he used it to control the vine, as he couldn't control any elements of nature until the Elemental Vein Realm.

Su Mei didn't say anything. She flew up and a wreath of crimson flames that ignited around her fists. "Feng Wuji, didn't you say you'd let sister have this?" she asked with a mock expression plastered all over her face.

Before Feng Wuji could answer, she sent a torrent of fire that was in the shape of a large rope towards him, as if trying to capture him.

Feng Wuji didn't even try to dodge this time. He stayed in the same place, and when the rope of flames was near him, his right hand flashed and his slender sword appeared. He then sidestepped, his blade moving in a fluid, circular motion. He used the flat of the sword to guide the flame's momentum, diverting it past his shoulder. The flames seared the air and burned the grass around, but he was untouched.

"Well, you can take it if you have the abil..."

Feng Wuji was still talking when Su Mei clenched her hands together, and the scattered flames coalesced into a dozen fiery daggers that shot towards him from all angles.

Feng Wuji was not in a good position. He raised his sword and got into a defensive position, erecting a barrier using his qi. But he knew he couldn't do this for long; Su Mei had far more qi reserves than him since she was in the Elemental Vein Realm.

His mind spun for a solution, and then, as the fiery daggers struck his barrier, he quickly channeled some qi into the talisman. He used it to command a large number of vines to attack Su Mei, who quickly flew around trying to dodge them and sent some fiery daggers towards the vines. This made her momentarily distracted, and he shot off the ground, aiming his sword at her heart.

She reacted instantly, summoning a shield of flame to block his thrust. The sword met the fire with a sizzling crackle. They were locked in a stalemate. The vines still attacked her, and she had to use her flames to destroy them.

But the vines were too much, and Su Mei's condition was growing increasingly pivotal. She decided to go into a fully defensive position, summoning a roaring pillar of flame around herself in a desperate, all-or-nothing defense.

The intense heat instantly incinerated the binding vines, which turned to ash and drifted away. Feng Wuji was forced to abort his lunge, leaping back from the scorching wave. His talisman broke at this moment; its energy had been consumed.

A triumphant smile touched her lips. "Your trick is spent, Feng Wuji. What are you gonna do now?"

She didn't know she had made a critical mistake. The powerful defensive technique she used just now had drained a significant portion of her qi. The pillar of fire died down, revealing her slightly panting form. She had overexerted herself, believing she would achieve victory since Feng Wuji's talisman was dead.

Feng Wuji had been waiting for this moment, he even has a slight smile on his face when he saw the slight tremor in her hands and the diminished intensity of the flames licking at her fingertips, and then he struck. Although he didn't have a talisman, he didn't need one.

He feigned a thrust towards her face. Su Mei, conditioned by his previous move, instinctively brought her arms up to summon another fiery shield. It was exactly what he had anticipated. As her guard rose, he dropped low, his body twisting. Instead of a thrust, he executed a sweeping kick, swiping her legs out from under her. She cried out in shock and lost her balance.

As she tumbled backwards, Feng Wuji was already rising. The pommel of his sword flashed forward. It struck a precise point on her wrist and numbed her meridians, causing the crimson flames on her wrist to die out. Before she could hit the ground, the tip of his sword was hovering a hair's breadth from her throat.

"How?" she asked with a face full of disbelief. She was in the Elemental Vein Realm and had the Sacred Rose Purification Flame Spirit. While it hadn't manifested its special powers, it gave her more than enough strength to defeat her peers and those of higher cultivation during training in her sect.

"Well, it's simple, actually. You didn't save any energy during the fight, whether it was subconscious, as you felt you would win since you're of a higher cultivation level and I haven't even achieved the Foundation Establishment Realm. I, however, knew you were stronger and tried to preserve my energy throughout. Now, after using that move, you're expended, while I still have more than half of my reserves full. Also, you rely too much on your element and rarely actually engage in pure combat."

He removed his sword from hovering at her throat and grabbed the peacock.

"Bye bye, Su Mei," he said as he left to explore the realm.
