Chapter 10 - You need me to what?

Chuck already thought that it was a little bit weird for Erik to get affiliated with him. The natural and normal flow of things were simple: The strong must never be seen with the weak.

But Erik had a good reason as to why he was involving himself with Chuck. So Chuck didn't think too much about it at all.

But it came as a huge surprise when Kaiden, of all people, walked up to Chuck personally to talk to him. No matter how hard he tried to understand why she came up to him, he just couldn't wrap his fingers around it.

"She wants to talk to me? No, no, no. She needs to talk to me. But why the fuck will she want to talk to someone like me? Am I a trouble magnet or something? Do I have charisma? Ohh fucking hell!"

Masking all the wild thoughts in his head, Chuck tried to put on a convincing smile.

"Ohh you need to talk to me? And to what do I owe the honors?" Chuck said, but trying his best not to explode. Although it didn't really help, as Kaiden could feel the rage coming forth from his being.

Kaiden saw Chuck, obviously failing to hide his real emotions.

"Is he angry about what I did to him?" Kaiden thought.

"Hey just know that I went easy on you back at the dogo. If I wanted to end you, I would have. Either way... I'm sorry." Kaiden said, trying her best to be polite.

Of course this was a little bit hard for her. Chuck was seen as a weakling, and if word got out that she apologized to a weakling, it would be very bad for her. Her reputation will be a joke to everyone.

"You went easy on me? Yeah, I guess that's why I was almost roasted to oblivion, you dumb bitch!" The more Chuck listened to Kaiden, the more angrier he got.

Erik was still there, watching Chuck and Kaiden talk back and forth as a slow tension was engulfing the air around them.

"Alright guys, I think it would be better if I took my leave at this point.," Erik said as a chuckle almost escaped his mouth.

"You know what? I'm not gonna take my leave. I came here to read, and that's exactly what I'm gonna do," Erik spoke like the whole universe was a comedy hall.

"I think we should head to the H section of the library. It should be quiet, and empty. You would want people seeing you with a weakling, now would you?" It was clear that Chuck wasn't in any way comfortable around Kaiden. Her first impression wasn't exactly a non-violent one either.

Nodding subtly, Kaiden turned around and headed to the direction of the H section, as Chuck followed her from behind.

Before they were completely out of range, Erik called out.

"Hey Chuck, I'm gonna try to see what I can find on that Harelm energy you were talking about!"

Kaiden's ears picked up what Erik had just said, and she had a good idea of what he meant.

"Harelm energy? Is that what it's called? It has to be what I felt when Chuck was covered in that golden flame," Kaiden kept her cool, but several thoughts were spiraling in her head.

After walking for a short period of time, navigating their way through the maze of a library, they had finally reached the H section.

Kaiden turned and faced Chuck, trying to think of the best approach she can give someone that she almost killed. Chuck watched Kaiden as she took slow deep breaths, and he couldn't help but admit it.

Kaiden was beautiful.

She was gorgeous, attractive, hot, and astounding, made flesh and blood. No matter how hard he tried to brush it off, he couldn't help but feel a calm sensation when staring at her perfectly constructed oval face.

"Alright, we're here. What do you want this time?" Chuck, still feeling a hint of resentment, made his tone even more fierce.

"Will you chill out already?" Kaiden was getting really fed up at this point.

"Earlier today, when it was still dark, where were you?" Kaiden asked, straightening her voice.

"What the hell does she mean by that? Did she…..? No, it can't be. Nobody saw me. I made sure everywhere was clear." Chuck thought as she started feeling a little tense.

"Where else was I? I was in my dorm, recovering from the pain that you inflicted on me," Chuck replied, trying his best to stay normal.

But Kaiden wasn't stupid. She knew what she saw, and she wasn't going to back down until she got what she needed from Chuck.

"Hey I'm not dumb okay? I know what I saw. I saw you on the green field, and I saw what you were doing," Kaiden said as her tone was filled with conviction.

Beads of sweats started forming on Chuck's temple, his pulse skyrocketed, and he felt even more tense.

"How? Fucking how? Did she really see me, or is she trying to make me spill? Ohh damn it!" Chuck could feel a certain area in his pants folding up and getting smaller, out of fear.

"Uh… uhm I don't know what you're talking about. You look a little tired. Maybe you should go see a doctor or something to get you checked out," Chuck was trying his best to throw Kaiden off the wagon, but nothing seemed to be working.

A loud sigh echoed in their vicinity. Kaiden's expression looked like she was about to give up on life itself.

"I don't know why you're hiding your powers, or why you let me hurt you when you could have stopped my attack, or why you're still denying it even now," Kaiden's voice went low, as her blue eyes projected nothing but exhaustion, "but I really need your help. If you're as strong as I think you are, then I need you."

"I'll give you time to think, I just need you to know that you can trust me," feeling defeated, Kaiden was about to take her leave.

Chuck stared at Kaiden, trying to read her, or know what was going through her mind. What she didn't know was that Chuck wasn't as strong as she thought he was. He only had one skill, and it didn't particularly help him greatly in the combat aspect.

But even still, Chuck couldn't outright tell Kaiden that she was wrong. She presumed that Chuck was strong, after witnessing his little display, and Chuck wanted to keep it that way.

"She's really that clueless huh? I can keep on denying it, or not. But it doesn't change the fact that she's seen my powers. I can't let her out of my sight."

Chuck thought for a while, thinking of all the probable outcomes that could present itself, depending on the next move he made. Agreeing to help Kaiden with whatever she wanted was a double-edged sword.

"Alright hold on," Chuck spoke up, ready to face whatever perilous occurrence that came next, "suppose you're right, and I am hiding my powers, and I'm willing to help you out, what exactly do you need from me?"

Kaiden took deep breaths, trying to put on a calm demeanor.

"I need you to work with me… to kill someone."
