Chapter 1 - [1] Heavenly Reception

A celestial being sat in front of a large desk, a golden phone pressed against her ears as her fingers moved, scribbling words into a large ledger.

She was perfection personified.

Long silver hair, amber eyes that resembled miniature suns, and a simple gold hairpin that kept her long silver hair in place.

The lady smiled as she glanced at Theron, then she raised a finger to tell him to wait.

She took a deep breath…

"At least the last reincarnator I sent didn't have his balls chopped off on the very first day!" She slammed the phone down and turned to face him.

"Oh, you have arrived." Her eyes strolled down to his trousers.

Theron raised a brow, tempted to shield his nether regions. He was completely naked after all, that was how he had woken up.

"Excuse me?"

The woman giggled and floated off her chair, pristine white angelic wings emerging from her back and fluttering gracefully.

"Don't mind me… I just heard that the size might have something to do with your luck."

Once again, Theron was given a pause. "Huh?"

'How did I even get here?'

Theron thought back to just a few minutes ago and frowned. 'Oh yeah, I died.'

He was a structural engineer, a talented one actually, but to become one he had drowned himself in debt upon debt.

So much so that he could still remember the face of the woman at the bank whenever he would arrive.

"You're broke already? That's just how school is. Why not take another loan? You will get rich after graduating after all."

Theron tightened his fist at his side.

Lies! They were all lies.

Life after graduation was not roses and peaches.

After graduation, he worked like a dog, moving from one company to the next. Carrying blocks till his back folded to adapt to the strain.

His only peaceful moments were when he was scrolling through novels, trying to live his ideal life through his characters.

He didn't even see the support beam falling.

"Ahhhh—!" He breathed out tiredly.

When Theron opened his eyes, the angel was right in front of him, her forehead pressed against his.

He flinched, stumbling back and landing on his naked butt. "W-what are you doing?!"

The angel slowly shook her head. "That was one morbid backstory."

'She can read minds?'

Theron angrily stood up from the gold-plated floors and breathed out a sigh. "Aren't we here for something? Please just reincarnate me, I'm tired of being naked."

He had read about it in countless novels, so he pretty much knew what was happening.

"Alright then… let's get straight to business."

Her tone became slightly more professional, although her jovial nature was still evident. "I am Yennefer, your guardian angel and guide to your new life."

She then went on to explain how the reincarnation process would go.

"First let me check your Karma. If it is high, then you might get a very unique power or buff to help you in the new world."

She floated over to her desk and picked up a crystal glass orb. "The orb will glow with either one of three colours…"

"Black as in cursed. Red as in blessed and Gold as in holy."

"Pfft…" Theron crossed his arms over his chest. At the mention of Karma, he knew that he was bound to live a miserable life.

He had lived with the philosophy of minding his own business, because of this, he rarely interacted with anyone.

There was no way his Karma would be anything—

"What in heaven?? How is it this high?"

The orb in Yennefer's hand was glowing a fierce golden colour, fiery amber light swirling within it.

Theron's eyes widened as he stared at the orb. 'Wait, is this really happening? Is this the power of minding your business?!'

"Yes, let's go!!" He screamed in joy, tears forming in his eyes.

Meanwhile, Yennefer glanced from the orb in her hand to his face and then down his naked body.

"There has to be an error somewhere, this can't possibly be right!"

"You little pervert!"

Yennefer raised her hands in defence. "Hey, I'm an angel in training. It's like calling your doctor a pervert…"

Theron massaged his forehead and tiredly sighed. "So my Karma, is it really that high? There is no fault in the system or something?"

He was still finding it hard to believe that he had been this lucky.

Yennefer was floating upside down, balancing the orb with her feet. Her eyes were closed as she thought it over.

"Hmmm… this has never happened before. Although this is my second time reincarnating anyone…"

'Great, they sent me a novice angel.' Theron thought.

Her eyebrows creased together. "Anyways, since your Karma is so high, it's time for you to spin the wheel of fortune."

With a snap of her finger, the room shifted.

Pristine white walls and gold-plated grounds gave way to an endless darkness. There was a single sun glowing high up in a star-filled sky, multiple coloured celestial bodies roaming from place to place.

Yennefer was floating next to him, staring right in front of them—at a large golden wheel that towered up to the heavens.

Theron could make out a few words written on the wheel.

~ The Divine Blade of Eons

~ The Sacred Chalice

~ Demonic Dragon Bloodline

~ God Devourer Blade

~ Celestial Devourer System

"They are all divine grade items, only those whose Karma burns gold can touch it." Yennefer turned to face him.

"All you have to do is touch it and it will spin… good luck."

Theron swallowed as he stepped up to the wheel. "Please, let me get something good."

He had no intention of living the same slave life that he had lived back on Earth.

Heaving a breath, he touched the wheel. And then it spun—

Whirl!

Rainbow sparks emerged from the wheel, darting from place to place. The atmosphere was filled with static, and the sound of its rotation blotted out every other thing.

After what seemed like hours, the wheel finally slowed down, and then it stopped.

~ The Primordial Collection

Yennefer fell to her knees, a shiver running through her spine as she read the words over again.

The Primordial Collection…

The treasure reserved for the gods.
