Chapter 41 - CHAPTER 41: illness

window.

Her face was adorned with the makeup Emily had just designed for her, and she wore a simple white dress that fluttered gracefully, making her look like a celestial being descending to earth. Even though Lenn prided himself on having seen countless beautiful women, nothing could compare to the shock of seeing her like this.

Ella circled around Lennox twice.

"What is this... poison? I can't believe I didn't notice you had lingering effects before."

Lenn looked at Ella in surprise.

"I'm even more curious about how you figured it out."

Ella gave him a mysterious smile and placed her right hand on Lenn's chest.

The rhythmic sound of his heartbeat echoed in the air, and Ella could clearly feel the thumping beneath her palm.

"It's been a long time; it might be hard to treat. You'll probably need to take a lot of medication," Elae Grant said as she sniffed around, precisely locating where Mary Johnson kept the medicine.

"This stuff is almost gone, and you can still find it?" Lenn Pei's sharp eyes glinted with a hint of danger. How did Ella know so much?

Noticing the intensity in Lenn's gaze, Ella reassured him, "Seventh Master, I'm here to help you."

Ella had been looking for a chance to show Lenn her skills, and now she had it.

Lenn regarded her warily. "You want to help me? How? Even doctors abroad are at a loss with my illness. What can you do?"

Ella disdainfully tossed the medicine bottle aside. "I'm far better than them. Don't compare me to those doctors."

"I can cure your illness."

Lenn's eyes suddenly brightened, only to dim slowly afterward. "Don't joke around, Miss Grant. If you just want to repay me, there are other ways to do it."

"My illness has been around for too long; how could it possibly be cured?"

Ella Grant firmly grasped Lenn Pei's hand.

"Trust me! Your condition is indeed serious, but it's not beyond treatment. If you wait any longer, you'll be stuck living with this heart palpitations for the rest of your life. Are you okay with that?"

"Believe me, within a month, you'll be free from the pain of palpitations for good."

Ella looked seriously into Lenn's eyes.

"This is my promise to you, Ella Grant."

The warmth of her hand was so intense that Lenn had never felt anything like it before.

A young girl was holding his hand, earnestly making a promise to him. What was even more surprising was that Lennox actually wanted to believe her.

He gazed into her clear and determined eyes and couldn't help but smile.

"Alright then, tell me, how are you going to treat it?"
