Chapter 24 - 24: The Invincible Spirit Form?

"After a thousand years… I have finally returned."

A hoarse yet regal voice echoed as the black mist surged and coalesced around Veronica's body.

Her once dull eyes now glowed a deep, ominous gold — Morgana, the Sealed Dark Witch, had awakened.

"Such a familiar scent…" Her gaze swept across Damon, Madison, and Yurenka, confusion flickering in her eyes. "Maxim? No… who are you?"

Her voice was old and commanding — even weakened, her arrogance was undeniable.

Damon smiled politely. "Isn't it obvious? We're your rescuers."

Behind his calm tone, his fingers flickered with hidden gestures. The structures around them — skyscrapers of mirrored glass — began to twist and reform like metal beasts, slowly encircling Morgana from behind.

"Rescuers?" Morgana frowned. "Was it Maxim who sent you?"

She was still adjusting to her new body. This wasn't her true vessel — Veronica's soul still lingered inside, tangled with hers, restricting her power. Her perception and control were incomplete; she couldn't sense the danger closing in.

"Who knows?" Damon's tone was light, mocking. "Maybe he's too busy flirting with his favorite apprentice."

Madison and Yurenka both fought to keep straight faces.

Madison had acting experience, and Yurenka — though barely ten — was a natural at it. Neither dared look at the 'steel dragon' forming behind Morgana.

"Pathetic," Morgana muttered in disdain. "I expected more from him."

She raised her chin, eyes gleaming with superiority. "No matter. Since you released me, you shall serve me. From this day forth, you are my disciples — and together, we shall claim dominion over this new world."

She said it as if granting them a divine favor.

Damon's lips curved upward in a faint, perfectly timed smile. "To serve you… may I make a small request first?"

"Speak," Morgana said, half-distracted, waving dismissively. "What do you desire?"

Damon's eyes glinted. "You."

"...What?" Morgana froze.

She quickly understood what he meant — he wasn't referring to her spirit, but the body she had just possessed: Veronica's.

That body was already hers by conquest — flawless and graceful, worthy of a queen. There was no way she'd let another claim it.

"Choose another. This one's mine," she said coldly.

Damon chuckled softly, his tone dropping to a chilling whisper. "Then I'll just… take it myself."

Before she could react, the sky darkened.

Morgana turned sharply — and saw an enormous steel-and-concrete dragon, formed from a skyscraper itself, crashing down from above!

She thrust out her hand, summoning an invisible force field ten meters wide. The air distorted under the immense pressure as she barely managed to hold the dragon's weight. Her knees trembled, her soul blazing with effort.

Even Damon was impressed. As expected of someone who once battled Merlin himself. That kind of reflex alone puts her above most Avengers-level threats.

But…

"You can stop one building," Damon's eyes narrowed, "but what about ten?"

All across the mirrored skyline, more towers began to shudder and awaken, their steel frames twisting into monstrous forms under Damon's map editor control.

Morgana's expression finally shifted from arrogance to alarm. In her weakened state, she couldn't endure the force of a million tons bearing down at once.

So she made a decision — one she thought was clever.

She abandoned the body.

Veronica collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath, as Morgana's soul flared free — a blazing wraith of golden energy that rose into the sky, glaring down at Damon.

"Flesh is weakness. The soul endures!"

Even without her body, Morgana's spiritual power was monstrous — roughly eighty percent of her prime. And worse, in this form, she possessed a terrifying trait:

Elementalization.

As a pure spirit, she could phase through any physical matter within the Mirror Dimension — immune to conventional attacks.

"You insolent mortal!" she shrieked. "You dare anger me?!"

Several orbs of condensed lightning, each the size of a basketball, burst from her hands and flew in unpredictable arcs toward everyone present — including Veronica herself.

Damon's palm slammed down. Jagged stone pillars erupted from the ground, forming a dome of rock that enveloped the group.

Then he teleported to Veronica's side in a blink, shielding her inside his barrier.

The orbs exploded harmlessly against the stone.

Earth counters lightning. Basic element theory checks out.

He smirked. Shame I don't have any lightning crystals; a reactive shield combo would've been fun.

"...Thank you," Veronica murmured softly, cheeks flushed. She looked down — realizing where Damon's hand was.

"Uh, could you maybe… move that?"

Damon didn't respond — his gaze remained fixed skyward, deadly serious.

Morgana saw the gesture and her fury flared to new heights.

"Flirting—? In front of me?!"

Her expression twisted in rage. The magic around her exploded like a storm, her power boiling the air. A vast pentagram of blinding light formed in the sky — a resurrection seal designed to reawaken her global undead legion.

But as she tried to channel the souls of the dead, confusion struck her.

Nothing answered.

The circle flickered.

"Where are the souls…?" she gasped, eyes widening. Then realization dawned.

"This… this is the Mirror Dimension!"

Her composure shattered. Of course she knew of such a realm — she even had her own mirror-based spells — but turning the entire Mirror Dimension into a battlefield? That was beyond even her knowledge.

This wasn't just space manipulation. It was dimensional architecture — a higher-level magic system.

She was outmatched.

"Retreat!" Morgana hissed, thrusting up her hand. A curtain of rippling water materialized — a dimensional gate.

"Don't let her escape!" Veronica cried. "If she gets out, she'll destroy the world!"

Damon nodded calmly. "Relax. She's not going anywhere."

He wasn't Dave, that bumbling apprentice from The Sorcerer's Apprentice. He didn't need a Faraday cage to trap a witch — he had far more elegant options.

Spirit form or not, Morgana still had weaknesses.

If she were struck by a high-frequency barrage of lightning in a short time, her spirit body would destabilize and disintegrate, unable to maintain cohesion.

Damon opened his Map Editor interface, scrolling through his stored skill database.

Lightning Storm — Warcraft

Heavenly Thunder Array — Storm Riders

Kirin — Naruto

Lightning Bolt — Legend of Mir

Wrath of Thunder — Honor of Kings

200 Million Volt: Thunder God — One Piece

Six thunder-based skills. All charged, all ready.

Damon grinned, eyes gleaming like an executioner's blade.

"Morgana… surprised? You should be."

The witch had barely escaped the Mirror Dimension when she froze midair, staring at the sprawling skyline of New York below.

For a heartbeat, she hesitated — considering whether to wait and ambush him when he followed.

That moment of doubt was all it took.

The heavens above the city split open —

and the sky itself roared in anger.

The Wrath of the Heavens had begun.
