Chapter 4 - the dream deity

Was this some sort of deity?

"O, human.listen to these words of mine."

Alistair became uneasy.

His heart started to beat faster, matching the the clouds rolling ominously across the sky.

This unholy abomination before him could only be described with a few words: demonic, evil, and eldritch.

"What do you want from me? Have I done any harm to you?"

"foolish human."

The wind bombarded him in the face.

As if it were telling him to turn back and leave, the wind pushed harder.

But Alistair wasn't going to give up.

not on his world.

not on his friends.

not on the people and place dearest to him.

This is his home.

He may not have been born in this place.

But he feels as though this world was more of a home than his shabby apartment in London.

"I am merely threatening destroying the two worlds to fulfill my never-ending hunger for lies."

both worlds?

"hunger for lies?"

"Yes. You shall understand soon, o human."

A book materializes in front of Alistair.

an old, leather-bound, spell-book-style tome.

"What is this?"

"This is a book written by none other than the information god himself. It is about this universe and its lesser-known secrets."

"Why are you giving it to me?"

"At the end of every less-traveled road lies the wilderness."

"I beg your pardon? What does that mean?"

"That is for you to decide."

"Wait!"

The deity disappears.gone completely from sight.

The skies return to blue.

The clouds slow their movement.

and everything feels... perfect again.

Alistair was left completely baffled.

But he still has the book.

Hopefully, if he studies it, Things will get less baffling.

He told himself he'd have time to study.

But after all these signs.

Alistair knew There wasn't much time left.
