Each god represents a force of nature such as love, deception, power, death, etc.
If a god dies, their name is erased from the world permanently.
These gods are in charge of bestowing whatever their name is onto earth (the dream world is their realm)
The gods are all equally powerful and can only create or destroy things that fall under the category of their name.
Humans can apply for a contract with these gods.
(though unlikely, for usually it's the creatures in the dream realm/gods' realm that usually get accepted)
in most contracts, the god grants the select few of accepted people (usually 5 at max) 50% of their power (not taking away from the gods power, just creating new power) in return for 50% of the person's spirit energy (this gives the god a longer life span so they don't die and whatever their name is isn't erased from the world) and sometimes the contract has extra terms for both the Human and god.
These few people known as the contracted become extremely powerful but cannot make another contract in their lifetime (The contract ends when they die).
If the contract gives 100% of the person spirit energy to the God, The person dies, And the God gets their unique power.
Contracts where 100% of the person spirit energy Is given to the God It Highly looked down upon by the other gods, and would spark outrage and ridicule.
Both the god and the human are physically unable to defy the conditions of the contract.
Between the god and human realms lies a relic left behind by the god of the universe who died eons ago.
This relic grants the owner the power of the god of the universe, giving them complete control over the other 99 gods.
Alistair felt as though he was a god.
He had so much knowledge of the universe, that he felt like a divine being.
But he made a vow to himself to only use this knowledge for good.
He will find the relic, and save the two worlds.
Possibly by making a contract with a god that allows him to do so.
Though he didn't know if the god would be willing to make a contract with him for that reason.
