Even though the day off had felt busy from start to finish, when he looked back, Aos Qin realized he hadn't actually done much at all. So that night, after entering the Omnipotent Library, he immediately searched for the cultivation technique from his memory — one that even beasts could practice.
After carefully noting down the soul power circulation route, Aos Qin decided that tomorrow he would start using soul power to help Cowan regulate his body according to that route. He wanted to see if this method could evolve Cowan from an ordinary animal into a Soul Beast. If that worked, he could one day have his own mount — a high-class advantage for any fighter.
To Aos Qin's surprise, while browsing through the shelves, he stumbled upon a book he had previously overlooked — Five-Animal Exercises (Wu Qin Xi). Created by the legendary divine physician Hua Tuo, this health-preserving technique possessed unimaginable benefits for strengthening the body.
According to the Omnipotent Library's description, the Five-Animal Exercises mimicked five creatures — the Tiger, Deer, Bear, Ape, and Bird.
When practicing this technique, the key wasn't only to perform the movements correctly but to visualize the spirit of those five beasts within one's mind — embodying not only their form but also their essence. This synchronization of movement and spirit harmonized one's vital energy, breath, and willpower, unlocking the body's full potential.
If that were all, the Five-Animal Exercises would simply be a form of physical enhancement. However, the book further explained that prolonged visualization of the Five Beasts could subtly increase one's spiritual power over time.
Aos Qin hadn't yet discovered any other way to strengthen his spiritual power, and from what he remembered, this attribute became crucial for high-level Soul Masters. The Five-Animal Exercises perfectly filled this gap — it was truly a gift in time of need.
"What a pleasant surprise," Aos Qin thought. "Looks like I've got another training routine to add to my nights in the Omnipotent Library."
He practiced inside the Omnipotent Library to avoid being seen by others — not because he was unwilling to share the technique, nor out of fear of explaining its origin.
In truth, Aos Qin had no objection to teaching this to others, especially his parents. The Five-Animal Exercises didn't involve soul power cultivation; it was purely a physical and spiritual training method that ordinary people could also practice.
However, the key lay in the visualization diagrams of the five beasts — something Aos Qin could only access within the Library, not in reality. If he tried to teach it now, others could only imitate the movements superficially without true effect. So, he decided to master the technique himself first before passing it on.
Having discovered such a valuable method, Aos Qin wasted no time and began practicing immediately.
Yet, the difficulty of the Five-Animal Exercises far exceeded his expectations. Just completing the Tiger Form left him drenched in sweat. Even his usually excellent body control struggled to meet the precise requirements — many movements were nearly impossible to execute perfectly.
Despite the challenge, Aos Qin couldn't help but feel excited. "The harder it is, the greater its value once mastered," he thought, smiling bitterly.
After an hour, his stamina was almost depleted, so he wisely decided to stop. He knew that overtraining could do more harm than good. There was no need to rush — he had plenty of time ahead.
Since he wasn't in the right condition to forge Soul Guidance Devices, Aos Qin shifted his focus to planning what kinds of equipment he should make for himself.
Knowing that future Soul Guidance Technology would evolve toward mecha systems, Aos Qin naturally designed his plans with that direction in mind.
Of course, creating a fully functional mecha was currently impossible — not only were many of the rare metals unavailable on Douluo Continent (they could only be found on Sun Moon Continent), but even if he had the resources, his current Level 13 Soul Power was far too weak to build or control such machinery.
So, he decided to abandon the idea of "one leap to completion" and instead aim for modular battle armor — Dou Kai — constructed piece by piece.
He began listing his requirements:
Defense — "Only within a sturdy fortress can one safely strike back."
Speed — The essence of kiting tactics: "My range is greater, and you can't catch me."
Offense — Divided into two primary types:
Energy-condensing ranged weapons that release beams.
Costly Fixed-Mount Soul Guidance Devices, relying on powerful, single-use ammunition.
For fixed-mount weapons, the destructive power lay mostly in the shells or bullets, which were consumable items. To maximize their effect, even these small projectiles had to be inscribed with multiple soul arrays — acceleration, armor-piercing, explosion, and control, among others.
If he were to make higher-grade bullets, they might even include tracking arrays or elemental attack formations.
But realistically, Aos Qin knew — "I probably won't be able to make even a fifty-meter-range bullet this year."
Accepting that, he decided to prioritize energy-based Soul Guidance Devices, occasionally crafting a few RPG-like launchers when funds allowed.
On paper, he began sketching each piece of the Dou Kai Armor:
Helmet: Must provide critical head protection. It would include an activation-type Soul Defensive Barrier, sound isolation and amplification, and take the form of a sleek metallic headband that transformed into a helmet upon soul power activation.
Visor: Integrated systems for zooming, rangefinding, infrared, night vision, and sound modulation, capable of filtering toxic air through an internal breathing mechanism.
Chestplate: Containing an energy cannon, a full-body defense barrier, and acceleration modules.
Shoulder Guards: Equipped with soul-powered cutting ray weapons.
Gauntlets: Left arm — energy shield; right arm — shockwave emitter; forearm — scorching ray projector.
Backplate: Four acceleration thrusters for mobility.
Boots: Acceleration thrusters along the soles and heels for high-speed movement.
He decided to omit the leg armor for now — even just these components would already keep him busy for months. Still, with a full design plan, Aos Qin could better manage his time and resources, making every step count.
At dawn, he and Oscar set out for the city. Since they were carrying a lot of materials, the twins pulled a cart loaded with Kongming Iron ore, Blue Jade, prepared medicinal herbs, cultivation fluid, and of course, Cowan.
The little puppy had grown especially attached to Aos Qin, which annoyed Oscar — especially since he'd also worked hard to save it yesterday.
But who could've guessed that this little one would open its eyes this morning — right when Aos Qin was channeling soul power into its body! The first person Cowan saw was Aos Qin, not Oscar. Though it recognized Oscar's scent, its attachment had already formed.
After arriving at Shrek Academy, the brothers attended Teacher Shao Xin's cultural lesson as usual. But today's schedule changed afterward — instead of only the two brothers working in the blacksmith workshop, now all seven academy members had gathered.
"Hmm, now that I think about it," Aos Qin thought, "it's kind of sad — only seven people total, teachers included. It's a miracle this academy hasn't gone bankrupt yet."
Upon entering the workshop, he was impressed. Even the least physically skilled among them — their Food-type Soul Emperor, Teacher Shao Xin — could now skillfully refine metal. Yesterday, they could only take turns wielding the forging hammers, but now they were improving rapidly.
In just half an hour, Aos Qin forged refined-iron hammers for every teacher, then began purifying the Kongming Iron ore. Out of one kilogram of ore, only about six hundred grams of refined material remained after Spirit Forging, enough for two cores.
If he used all six hundred grams for one core, it would slightly increase the storage space of the Storage Soul Guidance Device, but he calculated that it wasn't worth it.
His current level only allowed him to inscribe Level 1 Storage Arrays, which could perfectly resonate with three hundred grams of refined Kongming Iron — maximizing spatial potential.
If the core exceeded that weight, the unused portion's space energy would go to waste. So, a six-hundred-gram single core would only produce maybe one extra cubic meter — not worth the effort.
From a profit perspective, two smaller devices sold better than one slightly larger one — since both three-cubic-meter and four-cubic-meter versions were in the same price tier.
He also noted the scaling pattern:
Level 1 core – 300g refined Kongming Iron
Level 2 core – 900g refined Kongming Iron
Level 3 core – 2700g refined Kongming Iron
That's why Level 3 and above devices usually didn't use Kongming Iron — they were simply too heavy. Wealthier craftsmen used Marrow Jade, while those with less money used Heart-Copper as a transitional material for mid-tier devices.
"I still don't know what grade that storage belt I picked up really is…" Aos Qin thought, once again drifting off into fantasy.
