Rafael's POV
I watched for any reaction, hoping for a clue that Polo's cover had already been exposed. Instead, it seemed they were still completely unaware.
"Are you sure three days are enough?" A sly smile tugged at his lips.
"Take all the time you need, Doc. No rush." He continued with unsettling friendliness. "We're safe here."
I ignored the suspicious remark and walked into the doctors' restricted area.
Several pairs of eyes followed me with guarded confusion.
This wasn't the room assigned to me by the chief surgeon. I only came through because I needed the exit on the other side.
The moment I stepped out, I turned right into a quiet inpatient corridor, glancing over my shoulder every few steps in case Delano's men followed.
Strangely enough, they were cooperating a little too easily.
Six steps ahead, I spotted the emergency stairwell. I strode over and shoved the door open.
Polo and his teammate were sitting on the stairs.
