Chapter 5 - Pilot Part 2

"Alastor! Pleasure to meet you, your majesty! Quite a pleasure! I saw you fiasco on the picture show and I just couldn't resist. I haven't been that entertained since the stock market crash of 1929!..AHAHAHA… So many orphans." He slowly speaks darkly at the end with amusement before a spear is pointed at him by Vaggie.

 "Stop right there! Cabrón hijo de perra! I know your game. And I'm not gonna let you hurt anyone here! You pompous, cheesy, talk show shitlord!" Alastor is seen with a dangerous smile, his sharp fangs on display, and his eyes glowing red. Before, with a laugh, he pushes the spear away and slowly turns monstrous for a brief second before reverting to normal. After indirectly threatening them, he then turns to face Charlie. "No, my dear, I'm here to help!" Charlie looks stunned and confused at his words; meanwhile, Vaggie grows uneasy, and the spider sinner on the couch seems to actually grow slightly concerned but hides it even as their body posture shifts into a more tense one.

"Why?' Charlie asks only for Alastor to laugh and spin, facing her. "Why does anyone do anything? Sheer, absolute boredom!" Alastor expresses exaggeratedly. Charlie seems to loosen her guard slightly as she nervously speaks. "Does getting into a fist fight with a reporter count?" Her nervous body movements cause Vaggie to look at her; meanwhile, Alastor's smile widens before he speaks.

"It's the purest kind, my dear. Reality! True passion! After all, the world is a stage, and a stage is a world of entertainment." Charlie looks still nervous but with a slightly hopeful expression, asks. "So do you believe in redeeming a sinner?" Alastor goes still, his gaze locked on hers, and maybe in another timeline, he would disagree immediately and start laughing in ridicule, but for some reason, a memory resurfaces in his mind from his human life back when he was a young boy with his mama. ("Mama…Do you believe someone can be bad yet turn good if they try?" A young alastor asks as a woman with messy curly hair and dark skin turns from the stove she was cooking at and gives a look of approval. "Of course, Al. Even the worst people can change….they just need to want to do it.") As he recalls that moment, he realizes he has been quiet for quite a while.

"Perhaps, my dear girl. Yet for many down here….they wouldn't even want it if it were proven. Because for some of us, Hell is our Heaven, it's our desired place to end up because in hell we can do whatever we want without any laws to stop, and that freedom is what makes us sinners sin."

Alastor's words cause both Charlie and Vaggie to listen and realize that maybe he does have a point; meanwhile, the spider sinner, almost forgotten about, seems to be in thought, yet a flashback of red eyes and chains causes them to shake their head to get rid of their thoughts. "Well….I guess I never saw it that way. Maybe I am going about this the wrong way, then would you want redemption, Alastor?"

Charlie asks even as Vaggie gives her a look. Alastor actually looks slightly troubled by that, their grin lowering slightly as a flash of warm brown eyes and tasty jambalaya with music and singing flashes across their mind. ("Mama….where do we go when we die?" A slightly older yet still childish Alastor asks as his mother sits on her rocking chair, embroidering before she looks up and smiles at them. "Well, the bible says that when someone does good deeds and lives a virtuous life, they enter heaven, and that's their reward for being good. Meanwhile, when people do bad things and sin, they end up being punished and going to hell. That's what they are given." Alastor looks thoughtful. "Then, Mama, when you die, you'll go to heaven, right?" Alastor says as she sighs and looks at him with motherly love. "Yes, dear, when I die I'll go to heaven and become an angel of the lord….And when your time comes, I'll be there waiting for you with your favorite jambalaya.") He fixes his grin yet inwardly wonders why he is recalling such memories.

{At Heaven's gates}

"I'm sorry, Marianne, your boy isn't here." St.Peter says as a Deer looking angel holding a pot of still hot jambalaya, looks at him with sadness, having come every day for decades, hoping to see their son arrive, and even if some part knows he has long since died, yet hasn't shown up at heaven's gates.

 "I know St.Peter…..My boy was good when I knew him…I just hope one day maybe he will show up and I can finally give him that jambalaya I promised." Her voice sounds both resigned yet sad as she offers some to the gatekeeper, who accepts with regret, knowing that she will just come again tomorrow, yet unable to deny the woman her wishes. After giving him some of the food, Marianne leaves flying with her ears lowered, not even responding to her friends who give her pitying looks, while some others give her a disdainful glance.

Alone in her home, she sets the now cold pot down and slides to the floor sobbing lightly, pulling out a photo of a woman and a young man outside a radio studio with the two smiling brightly. "Oh, Al…..Where did it go wrong, my sweet boy?"

{Back at the Hazbin Hotel}

 Not answering the question, they go to change the subject, yet another knocking is heard as Charlie turns and recalls why she was panicked earlier as she turns and gazes at the dirty lobby and falling apart decorations. "Oh crap, I forgot Evelyn is coming. Vaggie, help!"

Charlie begs her girlfriend as Alastor, seeing the slight chaos, returns to their former facade.

"Well, I suppose I can call for some help. I do have quite a few favors owed."

Alastors offers as he summons shadows and have them start decoration and cleaning meanwhile he heads to the fireplace and with a woosh of flames pulls out a tiny cyclops sinner who clearly died in the 50's based on her outfit who after announcing her name starts rushing to help clean her fast pace and frantic movements startling angel when she picks him up the size difference rather comical. Meanwhile, another sinner, this time a cat, is summoned as they start arguing with Alastor, who merely smiles and offers them cheap booze, which the cat sinner takes with a swipe and chugs.

While all this is going on outside the hotel, a smiling and humming Evelyn waits, wearing a rather sharp-looking black dress suit with a pencil skirt and black tights with heels and glasses, though it's clear they are merely for show as Evelyn adjusts their bun, their pink horns shifted to curl backwards in a spiral similar to a ram's as they wait for the door to open sure that the frantic sounds is her sister trying to make the hotel look better because if her memories of the show was right before the renovation at the end of season 1 it was a dump.
