I had barely taken a few steps toward the court when a familiar voice called out behind me.
"Seraphina!"
I paused, glancing slightly over my shoulder as the sound of hurried footsteps approached. The tone alone told me everything I needed to know.
[Host, is today a reunion gathering or have you offended everyone in the palace in the span of a week?]
I almost laughed.
No. But I suspect I am in trouble.
Maribel appeared a moment later, her expression sharp, her pace quick as she closed the distance between us. The moment she reached me, she stopped directly in front of me, arms crossing as she looked at me with clear disapproval.
"Seraphina, what is your problem?"
I opened my mouth to respond, but she raised a hand immediately.
"No. Do not even start."
Her glare sharpened.
"You were supposed to wait for me. Why do you insist on wandering off on your own?"
I exhaled quietly, though I could not quite suppress the small smile tugging at my lips.
