Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: A Liar?

Aria

"I hope you won't disappoint me by giving you the role of Angela."

My hands trembled in disbelief when I received the file from the director. Still in disbelief, I opened the file and sure enough, it was the script for the role of Angela.

"Believe me, you haven't made a mistake in choosing me. Thank you for entrusting me with this role," I said, bowing my head, very grateful to them for placing their trust in me.

They just smiled, and a staff member directed me to leave the audition room. I quickly wiped the corners of my eyes to wipe away the tears that had fallen from my eyelids.

I hugged the script to my chest, still unable to believe what I had achieved. However, my joy was interrupted when I left the audition room and was greeted by Rhea's sarcastic insults.

"Look at the loser hoping to be part of this big production. I'm sure she'll go crazy when she finds out how useless she is." Rhea's voice rang out loudly as I pushed open the door.

I received condescending glances as soon as I left the audition room. Everyone there had been influenced by Rhea's words. They thought that there was no way I could get any role in this drama.

"Oh my god, why do I keep hearing dogs barking here?" I walked past the actresses who were still waiting for their turn, waving the script in my hand.

"No way!" Rhea gasped when she saw me walking towards her with a script in my hand.

"What do you mean, no way? You think you're the only one who can act?" I shook my head in annoyance when I saw how Rhea was glaring at me.

"How did you get the part? Someone as talentless and useless as you couldn't possibly get a part!" Rhea snorted rudely, still in disbelief.

Rhea hurriedly walked towards me and quickly grabbed the script from my hand. I let her take the script; I wanted to show her what part I had managed to snatch from her.

Silently, I watched Rhea's face turn pale when she realized what role I had gotten this time.

"No way! How did you get Angela's role..." Rhea's voice was hoarse and soft.

Of course, I was satisfied with her reaction. I even saw her hands clench the script so hard that they trembled, a sign that she was furious at that moment.

"Oh my god, I hope you don't go crazy because I got the role. See you on set, Rhea." I smirked slightly as I took my script back from Rhea's hands.

As I was about to walk away, I felt Rhea's hand grip mine very tightly. I held back from screaming out in pain when she did that to me.

"Don't think you're great just because you got the part. No matter what, Arden is mine now. I managed to steal him from you," Rhea whispered softly in my ear with an evil grin on her face.

I covered my mouth with my hand and chuckled softly, "You can have him. Only trash like you would want a jerk like him."

I glanced at Rhea and saw how she was gritting her teeth to hold back her anger, which was ready to explode.

In one swift motion, I freed my hand from Rhea's grip and walked away towards the lounge where Caleb was waiting for me.

I could feel Rhea staring at my back from behind. If her gaze could kill, I would have been dead already.

I quickly turned the corner ahead, walking swiftly when I saw Caleb waiting on the lounge sofa.

"Caleb!" I ran towards him with a big smile, this time not wasting the opportunity he had given me.

After hearing my voice, Caleb stood up to greet me.

Perhaps because I was too happy with this achievement, I immediately hugged Caleb when I got close to him.

"I got it," I said, trying to share my happiness with him.

Caleb's body tensed when I hugged him, but I didn't notice because I was too happy. Finally, Caleb held my shoulders and pulled me away from him.

"No wonder you got it.

I knew you would get the part," Caleb replied without looking at me.

"Even so, I'm delighted that I was able to make it happen. It's all thanks to you," I replied, still with a big smile on my face.

"Since you got the part, you need an agent to take care of your future work." Suddenly, Caleb started talking about agents.

It made me think that he was right. If I wanted to be a top actress in this industry, then I needed an agent who could help me.

Actually, I could have asked Theo to find an agent for me, but I wanted to find an agency myself. At least they wouldn't see me directly as one of the Lennox family heirs.

"I guess I have to look for one," I replied, nodding my head in agreement.

"You can meet the person whose business card I gave you that time. He can help you," Caleb replied, unexpectedly reminding me of this.

I looked at him curiously, wondering why he kept reminding me about this. But, in the end, I just ignored it, thinking that Caleb was only trying to help me.

"I'll do it later. Where are you going after this?" I immediately asked him this question, because there must be a reason why he was waiting for me here, right?

"Come with me to visit a place. Consider it your thank you for the audition." Caleb's voice sounded cold as usual.

Only now he was looking at me, which was unusual for him. Considering I had nothing else to do after this, there was no harm in following him.

. . .

I didn't know where Caleb was taking me. I was a little suspicious of him because there were only pine trees on the right and left sides of the road they were currently driving on.

'Does he intend to kill me in revenge for leaving him three years ago?' I couldn't help thinking about this.

Rigidly, I turned my head to look at Caleb, who was still focused on driving. He had been driving for almost two hours and still hadn't arrived.

"Where are you taking me? I didn't expect you to take me this far." I plucked up the courage to ask him.

The sky, which had been clear, slowly began to darken, signaling that it would rain soon. This added to the tense atmosphere in the car, and I swallowed hard, trying to get rid of my evil thoughts.

"You'll find out when we get there," Caleb replied without turning to look at me.

But from the side, I could see the corner of his mouth slightly lift as he said that, sending a chill down my spine for some reason.
