Spring time arrives and we're starting our football workouts and spring practices. I'm working out with Dre and CJ after school.
Dre speaks up
"Man tomorrow's Friday I can't wait for this weekend, I want to just relax and play the ps4"
"Yeah I feel you, I'm probably gonna just chill with Alexa"
"Oh yeah how's that going?"
"Good we're taking things slow but it's like we're practically dating at this point"
Cj speaks up
"Why don't you just make it official?"
"Yeah Jay, I mean yall already text each other all day and night and go on dates, might as well"
"Yeah I think I'll ask her out this weekend"
While we're continuing our conversation coach Mike comes up to us with a down look on his face
"Jay… can I talk to you in private?"
"Dre and CJ are like my brothers they can listen to whatever coach"
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah… why?"
"Jay…"
He looks away and looks like he's fighting back tears
"Coach?"
"Ummm I just got a call. Your grandpa just passed away"
"Wait… no?!? You're lying!"
"I'm sorry Jay"
"No no no, this ain't real. Stop playing with me coach!"
Dre and CJ grab me and hold onto me. Dre speaks up
"Jay chill man, it's going to be ok"
"Yeah man we got you"
I sit on the bench and tears run down my face, as Dre, CJ and coach console me. I get up and run to the locker room and snap my fingers until Buddy appears
"Jay…"
"BUDDY WHAT THE FUCK!!?!?"
"Calm down.."
"Naw don't tell me to calm down, why the fuck is my grandpa gone! He's still alive in my old life!"
"I already told you Jay… not everything is going to be the same in this new life"
"No! No! NO! you said nothing about anyone losing their life!"
"JAY!!! I warned you from the beginning that the more canon events you change the more things will be different"
"So what did I change?!?? TELL ME!!"
"Everything…. You changed everything since the start of this new life"
"But… why my grandpa?"
"I don't know kid… it just happened"
"Bullshit!!! You're an angel you know exactly what happened! Now tell me what the fuck happened!"
"I really don't know Jay…"
"You know what… fuck you! Fuck this, I don't give a fuck about this timeline anymore. I don't give a fuck if you get your wings, send me back!"
"Jay.."
"SEND ME THE FUCK BACK!!"
"I can't!"
"What do you mean you can't?!?"
"You have to finish out the rest of this until graduation day"
"So I'm just stuck here…"
I slide down the lockers and tears start coming again. Buddy sits in the bench next to me
"I can do one thing"
"What"
"You want to talk to him one last time?"
"But how would that work… he doesn't know that I'm from a different timeline"
"I told him already"
"What???"
"Before I came here I told him everything, he was kind of surprised, but he's glad you're trying to make things better"
"So… where is he?"
Just then my grandpa walks around the corner
"I'm right here"
I stand up and just stare at him
"Grandpa… im sorry"
"Naw don't be sorry, I'm proud of you and what you're doing in this life. You're kicking ass"
I laugh a little
"Yeah even in the afterlife you're still the same"
"You're damn right"
I look down and tears start falling again
"Hey! Stop crying, you still got work to do!"
"But you're not going to be around to see what I do if I continue going down this road"
"Oh I'll be there, don't worry but if you start messing up.. im going to start haunting your ass"
I laugh and wipe my tears away
"I love you grandpa"
"I love you too… now get your ass back to that weight room and finish your workout, Georgia or Ohio state ain't gonna feel sorry for you when they're putting you on your ass next year"
"Alright… I'll see you later grandpa"
"Take care Jay… I'll be watching"
Him and Buddy both disappear, then Dre and CJ bust through the locker room door.
"Jay!"
I get up and walk towards them
Dre looks at me and speaks
"You good?"
"Yeah let's get back to the weight room and finish up"
"But… your grandpa"
"My grandpa would want me to finish that workout, he would want me to finish the job… he's going to be watching over me from here on out"
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah let's go!"
We jog back to the weight room and finish up our workouts and head home. When I get to my room and snap my fingers for buddy
"Buddy…"
"What's up kid?"
"I'm sorry for snapping like that.."
"It's alright you were just hurting"
"Yeah but now that heard that from him… I need to keep moving forward"
"Good"
"Lets jump forward"
"Beginning of senior year?"
"Naw… last day of junior year"
"Why?"
"I got something to do"
Buddy raises an eyebrow
"Annnnd what's that?"
"I'm already preparing for Kate to not be here, so I'm going to see how things go with Alexa"
"Ooooh, well alright then. You ready?"
"Yeah let's go…"
