Chapter 3 - The Transmigrators’ Group Chat

Ding! Confirmation complete. Invitation in progress… Invitation successful. Welcome to the Multiverse Group Chat. Detected world: "Minecraft." You have been assigned the tag [Super Block Man].

Ding! [Super Block Man] has joined the Transmigrators' Group Chat.

Ding! [Boiling Alive] has joined the Transmigrators' Group Chat.

Ding! [Starving Platform] has joined the Transmigrators' Group Chat.

[Freezing Cold]: Oh thank god! Finally, some newcomers.

[Freezing Cold]: I've been in the group for over two months. The apocalypse started ages ago, and we're only now getting new people.

[Freezing Cold]: My name before transmigrating was Molly Miaomiao. You can just call me Molly.

[Freezing Cold]: I assume all of you are transmigrators from the Blue Star, right? I wonder what worlds you all transmigrated to.

[Boiling Alive]: I'm so thirsty… Can someone please give me some water? I'm about to die of thirst.

[Starving Platform]: I can kinda lick moisture from between the wall cracks, but I can't collect it. Even if I did, I wouldn't know how to send it to you.

[Super Block Man]: I don't have any water here for now either.

[Freezing Cold]: I've got water, but how do I even give it to you?

[Ding... Detected Five members in the group. Red Packet function unlocked. Traversal function unlocked.] (T/N: Five??!!)

[Note: Red Packets sent via the Red Packet function will experience varying degrees of loss. Red Packet items can be stored in the Group Space. The Transmigration function requires different point payments depending on the transmigrator's energy level. Points can be obtained by selling items to the chat group.]

In her frozen world, Molly's heart surged with emotion at the group notification—but she quickly calmed herself. It was more important to help others first. These were the people she would rely on from now on.

She initially wanted to melt some snow into water and send it out in a cup.

But the group notice warned of potential item loss. If the cup broke, [Boiling Alive] might never get to drink.

Fortunately, she had hauled back a ton of ice yesterday. Some blocks, stored far from her heat source, hadn't melted yet.

[Freezing Cold] sent red packets to [Boiling Alive], [Starving Platform], and [Super Block Man].

[Freezing Cold]: Everyone, I don't have many containers right now. To be safe, I can only send you some ice blocks for now. You can use this ice for an emergency, and I'll go out and get more later.

Molly's world had been thrown into a new Ice Age, triggered by a supernova explosion several dozen light-years away. The entire planet was covered in ice. Where she was, outdoor temperatures had dropped to –50°C.

Just looking at the number might not seem too terrifying; she had briefly seen news reports of minus fifty or sixty degrees in Russia a few times.

However, she had to remember that her current location corresponded to the central plains region before she transmigrated. What was even more terrifying was that it was currently June, almost the hottest time of the year.

Despite all her preparations and thermal gear, Molly hadn't stepped outside once.

The collected ice was planned to last for a week, but if her group members needed it, she decided to brave the wind and snow in a couple of days to gather more ice and snow.

[Boiling Alive] has received a red packet.

[Starving Platform] has received a red packet.

[Super Block Man] has received a red packet.

[Super Block Man]: Thanks.

[Starving Platform]: Thank you.

[Boiling Alive]: Thank you, thank you so much! Sob, sob, sob. Just being able to lick some ice in this heat… even if I die, it's worth it.

[Freezing Cold]: Don't give up! (。•̀ᴗ-)✧ Take these for now. I'll send more later—I've still got a bunch left.

[Boiling Alive]: Seriously, thank you. If you ever need anything, just ask. If I hesitate to help you, I swear I'll call myself a cowardly bastard.

[Boiling Alive] sent a red packet to [Freezing Cold].

[Boiling Alive]: I don't have much to offer yet. From your name tag, it seems you're in a freezing place. The rocks here are scorching. I'm sending you some now. Once I find somewhere safe, I'll look for more stuff.

[Boiling Alive]: By the way, I'm Felix Hong. Just call me Felix.

[Starving Platform]: I'm Leo Jian. You can just call me Leo.

[Super Block Man]: I'm Ian.

[Freezing Cold]: Got it. Felix, don't worry. Just stay safe. I don't need anything at the moment.

Suddenly, Molly looked at the shelf where she stored her supplies.

[Freezing Cold]: Oh, I also have some basic supplies. If you need anything, just let me know.

[Freezing Cold] sent a red packet to [Boiling Alive], [Starving Platform], and [Super Block Man].

[Freezing Cold]: Inside the Red Packet are some Chocolate energy bars. They focus more on high energy and long shelf life, and they don't taste as good as normal chocolate. Try them out.(T/N: normal chocolate this tome or…? XD)

[Starving Platform]: Truly grateful.

[Starving Platform] has received a red packet.

[Freezing Cold]: @Starving Platform, did you transmigrate into the movie The Platform? I think I've seen a summary or something. Rings a bell.

[Starving Platform]: The Chocolate energy bars are a huge help. I am indeed trapped on level 120 of the Platform, but I'm afraid the world I transmigrated to isn't as simple as just the Platform. The group chat shows my world as the "Slasher World".

[Starving Platform]: Still, the immediate problem is survival. The slasher part can wait.

[Starving Platform]: I've seen the movie The Platform. I vaguely recall that if the upper-level people don't spontaneously maintain order and share, there should be no food left below level 100. If I'm unlucky, I might not even be able to lick a plate clean.

[Starving Platform]: The only slightly good news is that my cellmate's gaze is still… relatively sane. For now.

[Freezing Cold]: Sounds even worse than mine. Why are all our worlds so terrible?

[Freezing Cold]: @Super Block Man, what's your world like? The name sounds familiar, but I can't quite place it.

[Starving Platform]: Probably a game world. I've seen people play it—there are zombies, skeletons. Might be a bit better than The Platform, but it's definitely not peaceful.

[Freezing Cold]: Sobs. Why are things so awful for everyone? Why are we even called the Transmigrators' Group Chat? They should've just named it Apocalypse Survivors Group Chat.

[Freezing Cold]: And the guy who joined the group with me hasn't said a word. Hope nothing bad happened to him already…

Ian paused his work and let out a sigh. All that crafting and grinding had completely worn him out. He shoved some dried kelp into his mouth, refilled his hunger bar—but his body still felt drained.

During the chat, he had already pulled out the "Chocolate Generator" and a bunch of kelp from the transmutation tablet, powered through the stink, and went full grind-mode to reverse entropy. His EMC balance was now looking great.

Though the cost…

Looking at the dozen or so Redstone Dust in his inventory, and feeling the burning sensation on his backside, Ian felt conflicted, unsure whether to be happy or sad. (T/N: How did he get the redstone, you might ask. Let me explain: in the "Chocolate" mod, he can use the Chocolate like bone meal on the dirt, then a Chocolate sapling appears, apply Chocolate to it to grow, then it drops materials. After that, he used the Philosopher's Stone function.)

At least he had redstone now. No need to rely on that soul-crushing method again.

Whatever. Let's check on the others. Time to be a hero for these suffering souls.

Just as he opened the chat, someone had tagged him.

He skimmed the message history and scratched his head awkwardly.

'Damn… Everyone here's got it rough. Is the risk of transmigrating really this high?'

Then he thought, if he hadn't pulled the Ultimate Transmutation Tablet, his early game probably would've been hell too.

'Whew… Thank you, my dearest golden SSR—Transmutation Tablet. Mwah!'

Reading a bit more of the chat log, Ian sighed again.

'The worlds might suck, but the people seem pretty nice. Might as well help out.'

[Super Block Man] has received the red packet (Chocolate Energy Bar).

[Super Block Man]: Sorry everyone, I was tied up just now. My situation's a bit complicated, but I won't be short on supplies. If you need anything, just let me know.

After that, Ian opened the transmutation tablet again, took out a ton of ice, chocolate, and kelp, divided them into five parts, and sent them to all the members.

As for item loss?

'What's a little wear and tear to me?' he thought.

'I can just squat a few more times. A little sacrifice for the greater good.'
