Chapter 4: Transition's Investigation
Derek Davidson lived in an apartment in Metropolis, USA.
His apartment wasn't luxurious.
It was filled with files.
Documents.
Photographs.
Government reports.
Everything was connected to one thing.
The mutations.
The projects.
And the different government officials who had been involved.
Derek had spent weeks gathering information.
Some of the people had willingly given him information.
Others had refused.
Those people never got another chance to speak.
Derek didn't care anymore.
He needed answers.
He sat at his desk, going through hundreds of documents.
Then he found something interesting.
Another reference to the secret projects.
Another connection.
Another piece of the puzzle.
Derek leaned back in his chair.
"This goes deeper than I thought."
Later that night, Derek walked through the streets of Metropolis wearing his villain costume.
He had become comfortable with his new identity.
He wasn't hiding from what he was anymore.
He was Transition.
Suddenly—
A massive heart-shaped blast of energy came flying directly toward him.
Derek looked up.
A young female superhero hovered above the street.
She wore a costume with a heart-shaped symbol on it.
Her name was Lily Yarn.
Her superhero name was Sunflower Love.
She immediately fired another enormous heart-shaped energy blast.
Derek simply smiled.
"Really?"
The attack reached him.
Transition.
In an instant, Derek disappeared.
The attack passed through empty space.
He immediately appeared behind Lily.
Before she could react, he transitioned her position and defeated her.
Lily fell back.
Derek looked at her.
"Heroes are weak."
He paused.
"You allow love to control you."
Lily glared at him.
"Shut up, you bully!"
Her voice was surprisingly cute.
"I'll defeat you one day, you maniac!"
She pointed at him.
"You've killed so many government officials!"
"My uncle was one of the people you killed!"
"You're not going to get away with this!"
Derek stared at her.
Then he smiled.
"Your uncle?"
Lily's expression became serious.
"Yes."
Derek raised his hand.
Transition.
Lily suddenly disappeared.
She reappeared in an extremely dangerous volcanic region.
Heat surrounded her.
She immediately realized what Derek had done.
"You're kidding me!"
She activated her powers.
Heart-shaped energy surrounded her body, allowing her to stay airborne and escape the immediate danger.
She flew upward as quickly as possible.
But she had a problem.
She didn't know where she was.
Her surroundings were unfamiliar.
She couldn't simply fly around randomly.
She needed to find her location.
Lily pulled out her GPS.
"Come on..."
The device struggled to determine her position.
She continued using her heart-shaped energy to keep herself in the air.
The heat was becoming unbearable.
She needed to get away from the volcano before it was too late.
Finally, the GPS began giving her a location.
Lily looked at the coordinates.
Her eyes widened.
"This guy..."
She knew exactly who had done this.
Transition.
Meanwhile, Derek was already gone.
He returned to his apartment and continued examining the files.
He didn't care about Lily.
He didn't care about the heroes.
He didn't care about the government.
There was only one thing on his mind.
The mutations.
The secret projects.
And the truth behind them.
Derek opened another file.
His eyes narrowed.
"Cripo Project..."
He stared at the documents.
"Just what are you hiding?"
He continued reading.
Whatever the government had done...
Derek was going to uncover everything.
Even if he had to become the most feared villain in Metropolis to do it.
