Chapter 396 - Gathering Intelligence

Five minutes passed.

Lex finished his prayer, let out a small sigh, and didn't feel discouraged.

The idea of praying to the Lord of Storms, asking for divine punishment to deal with the three-in-one Beyonder, and even taking down the Rose School of Thought demigod along with it.

He knew from the beginning that the chances of success were slim.

After all, he wasn't a favored one of the Lord of Storms, nor did he have any holy artifacts that could attract the Lord of Storms' attention. If a True God could be connected to simply by a symbolic 'storm emblem', then True Gods would be too worthless.

That was just an attempt. If it succeeded, it would be pure luck, like winning the lottery. If it failed, it was no big deal. Anyway, when he was hypnotizing that Ancient Evil, he already had a vague plan.

Before making this plan concrete, Lex felt he should sort out his thoughts first.

From the information Gabriel provided, that Ancient Evil must have arrived on this Sea Island not long after he left Yedgar.

Thinking about it, it was truly both eerie and terrifying.

Damir Port isn't close to here, yet that thing was able to cross the ocean, persistently coming after him. He really didn't understand what kind of obsession was driving it to do this.

Was it because I opened a hole in its chest last time?

That's too vengeful. I just opened a hole, that's all. Others have done similar things, so why is it only bothering me?

Lex shook his head and continued to deliberate.

When they were in Damir Port, the Lord of Storms brought down divine punishment. Although it's unclear how it escaped, it suffered greatly in that battle.

Putting aside other things, just the part that acted as the 'Gatekeeper', that 'sister' used her undead army to resist the divine punishment.

Lex knew that the 'Gatekeeper' would have its own undead prison within its body. It could provide a good environment for evil spirits, and could also accommodate a certain number of soul bodies, the dead, and natural spirits, thereby gaining various unique abilities and powerful helpers.

Therefore, the 'Gatekeeper's' strength is often linked to the quantity and quality of the undead within its body.

In the battle of Damir Port, that evil creature's energy in this aspect must have been severely depleted, which is why there were so many death incidents after it came ashore.

The spirits of those deceased were probably captured by that Ancient Evil and thrown into the undead prison.

So now, the 'Gatekeeper's' abilities should be somewhat weakened.

After replenishing a certain number of undead, that thing began to search for him, and it found Gabriel probably because the Adventurer had previously come into contact with him.

So it used the 'Rose Bishop's' ability to hide inside Gabriel's body, and then helped the Adventurer escape the dungeon.

Even if the dungeon was guarded by a demigod, that Ancient Evil possessed many strange abilities, so helping Gabriel escape the dungeon was not necessarily that difficult.

Finally, Gabriel ran into him, and it emerged to settle scores with him.

Now it's under hypnotic suggestion, and won't bother me for a short time. And I can, according to my original idea, lure it to the Marshal's Residence, letting it fight with the demigod there.

I myself will seize the opportunity to sneak into the prison and rescue Edward!

"Hmm, that's the general plan, but there are still many details that need to be perfected..." Lex stood up, ran through his upcoming plan several times, and then left the home of the jailer Magian.

On the street, even though it was already night, Soldiers were still moving about.

Yedgar's Soldiers had no epaulets. They used the color of the sweatbands tied on their heads to distinguish ranks and military positions.

Those with white or gray headbands were the lowest-level Soldiers, some of whom were even untrained militiamen. These people couldn't even use rifles, so their weapons were mostly swords and knives.

Their superiors were captains with red headbands. These captains' attire was noticeably more formal; their uniforms were undamaged and appeared clean.

The rifles they used were also more advanced automatic rifles. They were trained and could speak fluent Loenese.

Their overall quality was not comparable to that of the lower-level Soldiers.

In the small square in the city center with the Marshal's statue, Boyle, wearing a red headscarf, threw down his cigarette butt and stepped on it with his military boot. Several nearby Soldiers cast envious glances at the captain's military boots, then looked at their own inferior leather shoes and sighed.

Boyle said in the island's native language, "I'll be gone for a bit, I'll be back soon. You all continue watching here."

He walked into a small alley, intending to relieve himself. There weren't many public restrooms on the Sea Island, so they would find a secluded corner to stand and quickly finish their physiological needs.

After Boyle relieved himself, he fastened his pants. Just as he turned around, he saw a Loenese face.

He was about to exclaim, when he heard the person say in a gentle tone, "Don't panic, have you forgotten, we are friends."

Boyle's mood relaxed. His eyes gradually lost focus, and then he heard the Loenese say, "Friend, what should I call you?"

"You can call me Boyle."

"Okay, Boyle."

"Are you familiar with the Marshal's Residence? If you're not, then if I want to know about the Marshal's Residence, who should I ask, do you have any suggestions?"

Boyle did not resist, saying blankly, "You can go to Officer Osmon. He is responsible for the security of the Marshal's Residence, and he has been working there for over ten years."

"Then where should I go to find Osmon? Also, what are his features?"

"You can go to his house. If there's nothing special, he always goes home at night."

"Officer Osmon is taller than any of us. He's a mixed-blood, I mean, he has ancestry from other places."

"His hair is thick and light yellow, often uncombed, which makes him look like a lion."

"His left eye was once injured and is now completely blind. Although the eye was saved, it looks hazy."

Boyle described Osmon's appearance in detail, and then gave an address, after which he heard the Loenese say, "Very good, Boyle, you are a true friend."

"Now I need you to count to ten silently in your mind. Once you're done counting, you will forget what I just said, and forget everything that happened."

"You can start counting now."

Boyle nodded and began counting silently in his mind. A moment later, his vision refocused. He completely forgot what had just happened and strode back to the square.

And all of this fell into Lex's eyes.

"The timing is just right."

"The time limit for 'Steal Skills' is two hours, and I haven't wasted this skill at all. Speaking of which, I have to thank Richard. If it weren't for his demonstration, I wouldn't have known how to hypnotize."

Lex turned and left, his figure disappearing into the alley.

Time gradually passed, and in a blink, it was already late night.

Lex stood by a window. From here, he could see a brightly lit two-story building opposite. That was Osmon's house, and from here, Lex could also see his bedroom.

At this moment, in the bedroom, a tall man with light yellow, thick hair walked in. He extinguished the lights, burrowed into the warm covers, and a moment later, seemed to have fallen into a dream.

Lex looked at the 'Midnight Dream' on his little finger and said to himself, "Time to get to work."
