Max said he took care of the hunter but then who was this?
Heather snarled inside my head. "There were two hunters in this trial!"
My hands balled into fists. This was a complete disaster. Trials always had surprises but not like this. Dawn was breaking and this hunter was determined to live up to his reputation.
Max and the hunter moved like deadly shadows, all claws and raw violence.
I could barely track their movements as my eyes struggled to follow the lethal dance happening before me. Every time I thought I glimpsed one strike, another came from somewhere else entirely. Faster. Sharper. More precise than should be possible. The sounds made my stomach turn - bone crashing against bone, air whistling around claws that could slice through flesh and spirit, and those deep growls rumbling from both their chests.
