Chapter 20 - A Splash of Chaos

Luanna's POV:

"Let me in! Open the door!" someone was screaming. I cracked open my eyes and saw a just-woken-up Josh walking toward the door. Outside the door stood an angry Louis and Harry.

"What's wrong with your hair?" Josh started howling with laughter.

"Look in the mirror and ask yourself the same question," one of them retorted angrily, and Josh ran to the mirror in terror. I'm not lying. He started screaming.

"My hair! Who did this?! Who could do such a thing?!" He collapsed onto the floor, clutching his hair.

"I think we can answer that," Louis said and turned to me. Thank God I closed my eyes in time. Immediately, more voices and screams about hair could be heard. Lesson learned.

"She did this to everyone?" Zayn snarled.

"I'm sure this is revenge," Niall said, who didn't sound upset. "I quite like it. It suits me."

"It's fine for you, but now we can do the same to her," someone suggested.

"But her hair is already dyed, you dope," Jake snorted, and I couldn't help but snort too. I started laughing out loud.

"Oh," I wiped a fake tear of laughter. "Are we going to the beach, or are you guys going to stand around here?"

"Why would you do this to us?" Harry whimpered.

"Because you wouldn't let me have dinner. Now you'll know better," I shrugged, sitting up.

"Seriously, where were you last night?" Jake asked.

"Looking for new friends? Like in Ohio," I replied.

"Did you find any?" he raised an eyebrow.

"One good one yesterday, and today he's introducing me to another."

"Last question," Josh began. "Why did you only dye Niall's tips?"

"Because I thought it would suit him, he almost helped me yesterday, and... I ran out of dye."

"Now can we go to the beach because we slept through breakfast," Louis muttered.

"And where are El and Beth?" I asked.

"Those two have been getting ready to go swimming for a while now," he sighed.

"Insane," I mumbled. "Five minutes is enough."

"Exactly," Harry replied. "Alright, we're going. See you downstairs?" I gave them a thumbs-up, and they left.

We all started getting ready, and only now did I realize that I was stuck living on the sofa because the other rooms were taken. That means someone really wanted to save money and ordered one room for five and the other for two. I won't blame them for that because it's a good idea.

In the bathroom, I changed into my swimsuit and walked over to my suitcase. I quickly put on a loose tunic, grabbed my bag, and packed what I might need. Towel, phone, money, headphones, sunscreen (which I never use), a few hair ties, a brush, and I immediately put on my sunglasses. I turned around, and the guys were already ready and waiting for me.

"Honestly, I didn't think she'd be ready so fast," Liam was surprised.

I just pulled a face and walked out the door, with them following me. We met the others in the lobby, and we all headed outside. The heat hit us, and I realized the air conditioning inside was working perfectly. I walked right through the middle of the pink-haired guys, with the other girls at the back. We were one big line.

I took a sunbed under an umbrella because I don't like to tan, and I had only just taken off my tunic and glasses when I was lifted off the ground.

"That's for the hair," Josh said, and the other guys from my room laughed and did nothing. When we were deep enough, and he was about to throw me, I stopped him.

"Wait!" I shrieked, and slowly stood up onto his shoulders, stretching out to my full height. Finally, I dove headfirst into the water and surfaced. "Againnn!"

"I was trying to get revenge, not make you happy," Josh whined. "Don't look at me. I won't help."

"Come on. Someone," I made puppy dog eyes.

"Fine," Niall sighed. I quickly swam to him and started clambering onto his back. With his help, I climbed on and dove into the water again. Eventually, I got dizzy, so I just swam and dove, acting silly.

"Aren't you coming back? We've been here for over half an hour," Jake called out to me.

"Never!" I replied and dove underwater.

"Suit yourself," he said and left. I was left alone, but that's no problem. I loved swimming, both as a child and now. My record is five hours without getting out of the water. Time just seems to fly faster here.

I splashed and rolled around in the water happily until someone called out to me.

"Luanna, get out! You've been there for two hours!" Niall shouted.

"Never!" I yelled back, floating on my back.

"Come on, you'll miss lunch!"

"It's fine, I have money! I'll eat somewhere else!" I shouted.

"Jake, she's not moving," I heard voices from the shore. "Help," and then both guys started moving toward me. I was too lazy to do anything, so I just stayed put. They reached me and carried me to the shore like a log on their shoulders.

"Bow down to the Queen of this land," I said, sitting only on Niall's shoulders now. Everyone around me started snickering. "How dare you! A curse will follow you for the rest of your lives!" I pretended to be offended. Everyone around, as well as my friends, was howling, and I maintained the act. "Take me somewhere else," I declared. "I will not lie next to such atrocious, ill-mannered, useless teenagers," I said disgustedly, making everyone laugh even harder. "Faster, servant, I am forbidden to be near common peasants. Take me there," I pointed to a sunbed next to two guys who were laughing at me.

"As you wish," Niall replied. I couldn't help but giggle but immediately returned to the role.

I lay down elegantly and felt the guys' eyes fixed on me. All the guys except Louis and Harry. I'm not complaining. I needed the attention.

"Water!" I declared, and the funniest thing was that one of the strangers gave me a bottle. I drank and tossed it aside. "The sun is shining in my eyes! Cover them! Now!"

Honestly, I liked this role; everyone did everything for me and obeyed me. Finally, I couldn't hold it anymore and started roaring with laughter. I got up from my spot, and one of the guys slipped something into my hand. Deciding to check it out once I sat down properly, I headed toward my actual sunbed. Stopping in what could be called the middle of the circle of people who were lying nearby, I bowed and received applause. "Thank you! That was Luanna Perez!" I bowed and returned to my own group, who were howling with laughter. "And there you have a lesson on how you make yourself memorable and famous in one city after another."

"Did you do the same thing in Ohio?" Beth snorted.

"That's a far cry from Ohio," I said, dreaming about that time. "A very long way. By the way, what about lunch?"

"Well, we're going to eat and then come back, so the question is—are you with us or staying?" El asked.

"I... I'll stay. If I get hungry, I'll buy something at a store, or maybe I'll get something for free, just as I am. Just eat for me. Eat until you can't walk," I winked and started tying my hair into a bun.

"Alright," they said their goodbyes. "Just don't die without us," Jake chuckled.

"Don't worry, I'm sure you'd die without me," I laughed. They left, and I looked at my hand. There was a slip of paper. I unfolded it, and it had a number and a name written on it: Ryan. "Another friend," I thought.
