Watching the nearly infinite, awe-inspiring lightning strike towards her, Ororo closed her eyes. Facing death, she appeared remarkably calm. Perhaps when she attacked Magneto, she had prepared for death.
Maybe in another world, she could be with the person she loved and possess him forever. In the moment before death, this thought flickered through her mind. The power of love was truly incredible, enough to make one forget the fear of death.
However, Ororo waited for a long time, but death did not arrive. What rushed towards her was a familiar warmth and heat. She opened her eyes and found the most unbelievable thing before her.
A giant bird, its entire body burning with Golden Flame, spread its enormous wings and stood before her. The endless lightning struck its golden feathers, but only produced tiny sparks. The huge body did not tremble in the slightest under this terrifying attack. Its three sharp claws firmly grasped the Eiffel Tower, and its raised head almost touched the giant ball of lightning in the air, as if it were wearing a crown. Majesty and grace were its most truthful depictions, but beneath this majestic appearance, Ororo saw a pair of gentle golden eyes.
"Three-legged Golden Crow? Yi?" Seeing such a familiar mythological creature appear before her, Ororo couldn't help but ask.
In response to Ororo's question, the Three-legged Golden Crow let out a cry that shook the sky. Its huge wings slowly closed, and warm, golden light radiated from its body, which was almost as big as the Eiffel Tower. This light dispersed all the lightning and frost, comforting the hearts and pains of everyone.
As the warm and gentle light dispersed, the iron spear cage was rapidly turned into ashes. Ororo, gaining her freedom, also felt the wounds on her body begin to heal quickly, and the giant Golden Crow before her began to shrink rapidly.
Soon, a man surrounded by Golden Flame appeared before her. The familiar appearance and figure told her clearly that this was her lover.
She threw herself at him with all her might, and a pair of strong arms caught her soft body. The two of them embraced tightly for a moment. Then, Ororo reached out to touch his face, which was radiating a warm glow, and asked cautiously, "Yi, what happened to you? Are you alive?"
"Of course, I'm alive." Yi smiled and held her trembling hand, transferring his body heat to her. "You know, I don't have any clothes on right now. If I didn't look like this, someone might accuse me of being indecent!"
Ororo instinctively lowered her head, her cheeks immediately flushed. But this time, she refused to let go. One separation of life and death was enough for her to let go of some of the grudges in her heart. And it was the same for Yi. For these women who loved him, he would only hold them tighter.
The figure shrouded in Golden Flame stunned Ororo, and it also stunned Magneto, Erik. He hesitated as he looked at this unfamiliar guy and asked, "Who are you?"
"Mr. Erik, if you're not suffering from Alzheimer's, you should remember the person who was just standing here accepting the bet. That's me, the Dawn Knight. I'm here to accept my victory," Yi said calmly.
In this bet, he had already won the final victory.
"That's impossible. No one can survive in that situation. No one! You are not the Dawn Knight. You are just a fraud!" Magneto's face showed disbelief, which quickly turned into a ferocious and sinister expression. He couldn't accept his failure, or rather, he couldn't accept that the Mutant Era he had dreamed of would be ended before it even began.
The shattering of dreams is enough to breed malice in anyone's heart. Especially when Magneto was never a good man to begin with.
Endless magnetic storm lightning began to roar, and Magneto, with his last bit of strength, launched an attack against the two people before him.
Controlling the International Space Station in orbit and tearing apart the Earth's Geomagnetic Defense Field had already consumed most of his power. The remaining power he had could only maintain the Magnetic Shield and control the Magnetic Storm Coil beneath his feet. This power was still almost godlike for some ordinary people, but in front of the newly reborn Yi, this power was no longer worth mentioning.
Facing the endless thunderstorm, he simply reached out his hand. The surging Golden Flame instantly transformed into a Flame Hurricane that swept everything away. The lightning was torn to shreds within this golden hurricane, completely losing its former momentum. And the golden hurricane, its momentum undiminished, surged towards Magneto in a sweeping wave.
"Fool, you nameless guy. I am protected by the Power of the Earth, your attacks can't touch me at all." Facing the sweeping Flame Hurricane, Magneto spread his arms in an embrace. The earth was his most solid backing; he didn't believe this mere flame could pierce the earth. It was because of this that he could be so fearless.
However, the reality far exceeded his imagination. The Golden Flame struck his Magnetic Shield, and instead of being blocked outside as he had expected, it gradually penetrated. Soon, these rushing flames completely breached his vaunted defenses and rushed before him. And he could do nothing.
Facing the flames that had already reached him, Magneto finally revealed a look of fear. At this moment, death had smiled at him.
The towering Flame Hurricane erupted directly from the top of the Eiffel Tower. The dazzling flames almost dyed the entire sky golden. Under this golden sky, a Flame Hurricane, like the spear of a giant god, pierced through heaven and earth. The magnificent sight could be clearly seen even from dozens of miles away.
But for Paris, it was already commonplace. The torment of near-death experiences within two hours had made the Parisians' spirits exceptionally resilient. After the Dawn Knight's return and the great reversal, their only reaction to the Flame Hurricane was, "Heh! Nice one."
For them, Magneto had definitely become a detested villain. In contrast, the Dawn Knight, a hero who had almost sacrificed his life for them, instantly gained countless supporters. Even though this hero had destroyed a lot of people's property in the recent battle. But for the romantic Parisians, who cared? They were there to support the hero. After all, life was more precious than property.
The Golden Flame hurricane began to dissipate, and Magneto's figure had disappeared from where he stood. Many people thought Magneto was dead, including Ororo. But Yi knew he wasn't dead; someone had saved him.
He stared at a corner not far away and said calmly, "Hiding in a corner trembling isn't a pleasant feeling, don't you think? Mr. Erik, and your companion?"
A Silver Shadow flashed, and a man named Peter appeared in front of him and Ororo, supporting Magneto. Logically, after Yi had displayed such power, anyone on the opposing side would show him enough respect. This was the benefit of power; it made the weak revere the strong, regardless of their status.
But this man didn't show the slightest bit of reverence, instead retorting with considerable indifference.
"First of all, I want to tell you. This old man doesn't have the habit of trembling. Failure isn't uncommon for him, so there's nothing he can't accept. Also, I'm not his accomplice. If I had to say, I'm a third party. Just lending a hand."
"Helping to save my enemy, then you, the so-called third party, are also my enemy!"
"Oh, oh, oh! Are you threatening me? Or do you really think you can threaten me?" The guy called Peter chuckled, holding onto Magneto and wearing a smug grin. "We'll see when you can catch me!"
With that, the silver figure began to flicker, vanishing from Yi's sight in an instant. Though Yi's enhanced vision could still track him, he wasn't confident in catching him.
That guy's speed reached a staggering Twenty-seven Mach; he disappeared from Paris in the blink of an eye. Of course, Magneto, the great villain, disappeared with him.
Their disappearance startled Ororo, who couldn't help but ask, "My God, where did they go?"
"Over there, in the suburbs of Paris. I'm afraid we can't catch up to them. What an astonishing speed, with no physical effects from such high velocities. It's unbelievable!" Yi lamented, while simultaneously manipulating his power to tear open Rogue's cage. Since Magneto had been defeated by him, Rogue was naturally granted her freedom.
And upon gaining her freedom, Rogue threw herself at Yi. The situation had been too stimulating for her; a near-death experience wasn't something a child could easily handle. She desperately needed an embrace to vent her emotions. And the Dawn Knight, who had suffered so much for her, was undoubtedly one of the best choices.
Rogue was venting her pent-up stress, but what she didn't realize was that her ability became the final straw that broke Yi's mental state.
After several life-and-death battles, Yi's physical and mental energy were nearing depletion. Even awakening Divinity couldn't change that. His previous display of power was entirely due to the awakening of Divinity and the absorbed Solar Storm. His true condition had reached its limit long ago.
And when Rogue threw herself at him, her touch instantly overwhelmed him. Her power was uncontrollable. As his own strength was absorbed by her ability, he could no longer stay conscious, and he fainted, collapsing into the arms of the two women. And, well, he was in a rather ahem… unclad state.
This situation naturally caused the two women to blush and panic. But the person who was even more agitated was Commander Hill, who was thirty thousand feet in the air, on the other side of the ocean.
She hadn't expected the final scene of the hero's return to be such an R-rated one, and she immediately turned her face away, starting to curse inwardly. This scene might seem normal to most people, but for Coulson, who was always watching her, it was far from normal.
Commander Hill was a woman who perfectly adhered to the rules of being a spy. In terms of being a spy, she was absolutely the best. Her level proved that. Level Nine, second only to Director Nick Fury, and even above him.
But this excellent agent always had problems when facing the Dawn Knight, just like now. It was just a naked situation, something any qualified agent would have seen, and there was no need to show such an expression. Furthermore, there was even a very subtle smile. This was simply world-shattering for Coulson. Could it be that the commander was also falling in love? The difficulty of that was too great.
Watching the images transmitted by the satellite of the two women carefully supporting Yi away, he sighed deeply. As an agent, he should report this matter to prevent any accidents. But as a friend, he also had to keep this matter in his heart, at least until Commander Hill's work went wrong. This difficult balance made things very hard for him. He even suspected that his hairline would recede a little further because of this.
Commander Hill didn't know his current complex state of mind. After watching Yi being safely escorted away by the two mutants, she revealed her usual icy expression and said to Coulson.
"We should discuss the aftermath of the incident in Paris."
"Of course, it's a huge mess." Coulson shrugged, pushing all his thoughts to the back of his mind for the moment.
