Chapter 9 - Hope

-------------------------------------------------------

'I'm famous outside the kingdom?' Alastor thought confused for a bit not realizing how his abilities had already started making his fame grow larger each day.

From his monstrous learning ability, Prodigal combat talent, becoming the youngest Forgemaster in just 2 years, his pre-natural growth and his legendary physical and mental abilities had presented Alastor as almost a mythic figure.

Antonidas was amused seeing the young man's clueless expression inwardly pleased he did not seem like a arrogant or vain person like many others become with just a fraction of his skills.

"The reason I'm here is a bit selfish as well, since I already heard of you and your exploits"

"Your father here had sent a message to the Kirin Tor for you to attend Dalaran's academy of magic and hopefully procure a high level mentor for you, I thought it would be best to come and examine the new hopeful myself considering we don't have special cases like you often"

Alastor's eyes widened as he gave his father Llane a look who gave him a reassuring nod which simply meant 'Don't worry he knows since we told him'

------------------------------------------------------

All of them now found themselves in the large private castle gardens as Antonidas and Alastor stood facing each other while Llane, Taria and Varian sat on one of the garden's Patios.

"Your parents had already given me a summary of your special powers especially your so called Psionics, first I would like you to demonstrate it"

Alastor nodded "Understood Lord Archmage".

Alastor concentrated and drew energy from his inner "well" which he dubbed Psionic energy as his hands were covered in a blue aura much to the astonishment of Antonidas who truly didn't feel any power being drawn from the Aether.

Looking at three large boulders around him Alastor raised his hands and the boulders now also covered in a outline of his light blue aura levitated off the ground for at least a few meters.

Dropping two of the boulders, Alastor gathered Telekinetic energy in his hands and blasted a blue telekinetic blast at the last floating boulder causing it to immediately shatter and break.

Antonidas nodded pleased and amazed but not at the destructive output but at how he was able to draw power separately from the Aether. "Can you draw from the Aether as well?"

Alastor hesitated for a bit, truth be told despite knowing of the true risks of the Warp he did experiment with it when in isolation and had found a very pleasant side effect.

But knowing that it would most likely come up and with this he could increase his already high value in front of Antonidas he decided to reveal it maybe he could even get a Archmage from the Kirin Tor as a mentor from the start.

"I can" Alastor closed his eyes and opened his soul to the Warp or as it's called in Azeroth the Aether and felt the never ending tides of power and emotions as he allowed it to flow from his soul into his body.

Antonidas kept his eyes on Alastor and was pleasantly surprised at how much energy he could draw in this stage another indicator of his arcane potential.

But then his magical perception caught something that almost made him drop his staff in shock and incredulity. "This is--!?"

In a burst of speed which seemed very unlike for someone like him to possess he closed the distance and kept his senses peeled even ignoring surprise of the Wrynn royal family who almost got up thinking something was wrong.

Soon Antonidas expression went from incredulity to denial to acceptance and finally to utter amazement. "You're actually filtering--No! you're purifying the Aether's energy!?"

And indeed that was what Alastor was doing he discovered that by using his Psionic energy as a filter around his soul he could purify the Warp's energy he draws in through his soul before letting it flow through his body.

Purifying it and turning it into a state similar to what it once was before the ancient War in Heaven making it safe and easy to use not only magic but also in conjunction with his Psionic powers.

Even if he knew that as a Primarch most of the Warp harm would be negated due to his powerful soul and body even if he drew it in unfiltered as long as it wasn't more than he could handle.

Alastor found he preferred this way instead sure he could at a time only draw in enough Warp power that he could handle and purify it which he could use only for a limited time but at least in that time he would know that it was safe to use.

And he was still training and intended to not only increase the capacity of Warp energy he could pull in his body to be purified but become more efficient in wielding it not only alone but also alongside his Psionics.

Alastor's eyes turned into a glowing shade of blue along with a similar shroud of aura covering his body but unlike the normal feeling of dread and danger that comes when Psykers use their powers.

Alastor's instead elicited a comfortable feeling of protection and hope, Antonidas, Llane, Taria and Varian felt their minds becoming clear and all negative thoughts and sensations being peeled of from their body and souls.

Their very beings felt wrapped up in a warm blanket near a cozy fireplace and their souls uplifted in ways they didn't think possible.

Finally Alastor allowed the purified Warp energy to disperse causing the grass, trees and flowers to be infused with great amounts of vitality causing the already beautiful garden to look even more beautiful and vibrant.

Not to mention for a moment he almost felt someone joyfully say 'Thank you!'

When Alastor opened his eyes he looked confused as the dazed but comfortable expression on Antonidas, Llane, Taria and Varian faces.

Since this was the first time he used his purified Warp energy in front of others and cause of that he did not know what effect it had on others.

Eventually they snapped out of it as Llane, Taria and Varian looked at Alastor wryly at his newest "miracle"....again.

Thankfully they were growing used to it or maybe they were trying to convince themselves.

Antonidas on the other hand looked at Alastor with an almost manic expression.

"Alastor would you like be my apprentice!"

Alastor likewise gave a reply befitting of a Primarch.

"Huh?"
