Veronica's POV
"Do you really want me and Leonardo to split up that badly? Weren't you just playing the devoted brother-in-law earlier?"
My words hit Adrian like a slap, and I watched him practically shrink into himself.
He scrambled to backtrack. "I'm sorry, that's not what I meant. I just heard—"
"Until something's actually decided, I'd suggest you quit jumping to conclusions."
I brushed past him but paused, glancing back. "And while I do enjoy fresh meat, you're nowhere near tender enough. What a shame."
Adrian went rigid. "..."
I saw Leonardo's expression darken instantly as he caught every word. I could practically feel his brooding mood from here.
"Not tender enough?" Adrian clearly didn't consider himself past his prime.
As I started walking away, he lunged forward and grabbed my wrist. "Trinity, I'm younger than Leonardo. I might look seasoned, but I'm actually—"
I cut him off with ice in my voice. "Adrian, you know exactly what I mean. Now get your hands off me."
