Chapter 27 - Chapter 27: The alien’s identity is exposed?

"Then, is there a possibility that the alien race that invaded New York actually doesn't have such a high level of civilization?"

Iron Man pondered for a moment, then proposed another theory, "Not only that, their level of civilization might be even lower, so low that… they don't even have interception capabilities!"

"Stark, they rendered New York completely defenseless," Nick Fury reminded him. "That doesn't sound like something a low-civilization race could do."

"Strength and level of civilization are not necessarily directly proportional," Iron Man argued confidently. "Captain America uses a shield, the Hulk relies on his fists, and that guy with the cape uses a hammer… these are all very primitive methods, but they aren't necessarily weaker than me in my suit."

Nick Fury realized that Iron Man had a point.

If an alien race is inherently powerful, then they don't need to rely on overly advanced external means to achieve conquest.

Just like the Skrulls who came to Earth more than ten years ago, they didn't even understand basic astrophysics, but that didn't prevent them from having a higher status in the galaxy than Earth.

"Please continue, Stark," Nick Fury urged, looking at Iron Man.

"We saw those fleets inside the wormhole. From their appearance, they look more rugged and primitive, not like a high-tech style."

"Of course, making a judgment based solely on that would be a bit one-sided. So, let's look at their fighting style."

Iron Man spoke eloquently in front of Nick Fury and Black Widow.

"From the footage of my battle with those alien warriors, it can be seen that their combat methods are actually similar to humans, except they are a bit bigger and use an 'energy gun,' that's all."

"And as you can see, several of them couldn't even handle me!"

"But my Iron Man suit is actually only about a decade or so ahead of contemporary technology, that's all."

"This level of technology should be very primitive for a civilization that has mastered space technology."

"But in fact? In my battle with them, not only was I not at a disadvantage, I had an absolute advantage! They had no way to deal with my Iron Man suit."

"From this perspective, I find it hard to believe that their civilization is more advanced than Earth's technology."

Nick Fury and Black Widow exchanged glances, shrugging. They had to admit, Iron Man's words made a lot of sense.

Those aliens couldn't even deal with an Iron Man suit that was only a little over a decade ahead of its time, so it was truly hard to believe their civilization was very advanced.

"But they opened a portal, how do you explain that?" Black Widow immediately pointed out a crucial loophole. "That is indeed a civilization far beyond Earth's."

"Who knows? Maybe they specialized heavily, maybe they had some treasure, or maybe someone else helped them open the portal."

"Right now, the information is indeed too scarce for us to draw more precise conclusions."

Iron Man shook his head and said.

[Please answer the question: Why did Nick Fury first assemble the Avengers?]

[A. To fight the Chitauri invading New York]

[B. To find the stolen Tesseract]

[C. To raid a HYDRA secret military base]

[D. To subdue a rampaging Hulk]

[Friendly reminder: Correct answer will receive the reward of an M1911 Colt with infinite bullets;]

[Incorrect answer will result in a random deduction of one personal attribute, including but not limited to knowledge, experience, skills, possessions, etc...]

The system's voice rang out again, and a new question appeared on the screen in front of them.

Iron Man and the others temporarily stopped their discussion,

and focused their attention on the second question.

"Nick Fury, it seems the Avengers you mentioned earlier have already been assembled," Iron Man said, glancing at Nick Fury.

"Good news, sir," Black Widow said, a little excited.

Currently, the Avengers only consisted of her and Barton. Of course, for a typical special operations team, top-tier agents like Black Widow were entirely sufficient.

But within the kind of high-level team Nick Fury envisioned for the Avengers, these two seemed a bit inadequate.

The current lineup could even be called a makeshift crew.

As a founding member of this organization, Black Widow was naturally very happy to learn that it would grow and get on track in the future.

"It seems my decision to assemble the Avengers was correct! Because only correct things can stand the test of time!"

Nick Fury nodded, also very satisfied.

At this point, he glanced at Iron Man and said, "By the way, Stark, because of Captain's situation, it's been delayed, and I haven't had a chance to inform you, but you are officially a member of the Avengers."

Originally, Nick Fury had indeed planned to observe Iron Man first, but when he saw Iron Man resolutely carrying the nuclear bomb into the space wormhole, Nick Fury changed his mind.

A person who could sacrifice himself to save New York, even with many personality flaws, was absolutely qualified to join the Avengers.

"Indeed, choosing to let me join the Avengers was the most correct thing you've done," Iron Man began to act cocky again, nodding seriously.

"So… Agent, are we colleagues now? Want to grab a drink sometime?" After finishing his cocky remark, Iron Man began to flirt with Black Widow.

"Alright, Stark," Nick Fury interrupted Iron Man with a look of exasperation. "Now, let's focus on answering the question."

With that, Nick Fury began to rest his chin in his hand, gazing at the screen in front of him, his eyes first falling on the first option.

"'The Chitauri invading New York,' are these Chitauri the aliens from the previous question?"

Nick Fury speculated.

Black Widow nodded: "Considering the low probability of New York being invaded twice in a row, those guys should be the Chitauri."

"That name sounds so stupid, just as stupid as the armor they wear!" Iron Man couldn't help but complain.

Everyone basically agreed on the identity of the Chitauri.

"So, Option A refers to the 'Battle of New York.' Would my first assembly of the Avengers be because of the Battle of New York?"

Nick Fury continued his analysis.

"It's possible, sir," Black Widow reminded him. "Do you remember the news Ms. Potts saw on the flight in the previous video?"

"The 'response team' mentioned in the news is most likely the Avengers."

"But they didn't know the name Avengers, only referring to them as the 'response team,' which indicates that the Avengers should have been assembled for the first time."
