Chapter 79 - Chapter 79 Captain America picked up Thor's hammer

The group first took Thor out for a meal, then found him some clothes to change into. After a short rest, they finally got down to business with him.

"Thor, why did this happen?"

Nick Fury asked Thor with a serious expression, "Why can't even you lift your own hammer?"

"I've lost my divine power. My father stripped me of my strength!" Thor said dejectedly, "Now I've even lost the right to wield my hammer! Why did this happen!"

Nick Fury and the others finally understood why the mighty God of Thunder had fallen to such a state, even being trapped by a mere hospital.

They exchanged glances. It seemed their previous deductions during the quiz were correct.

Thor had come to Earth involuntarily this time.

"Thor, how long will you be staying on Earth this time?" Black Widow pondered for a moment, then looked at Thor and asked.

"I don't know. Once I retrieve my hammer, I'll return to Asgard," Thor replied truthfully.

"Thor, although the timing isn't ideal, do you mind if we ask you some questions? There are some things we'd like to understand."

After some thought, Nick Fury spoke to Thor again.

"Nick Fury, ask away." Thor didn't refuse.

"Thor, have you heard of Thanos?" Iron Man eagerly asked the question he had been wanting to ask.

"Thanos?" Thor looked bewildered upon hearing the name, shaking his head. "How would I know someone from your Midgard?"

"Thanos is a galactic overlord," Black Widow corrected Thor seriously.

"A galactic overlord?" Thor's face showed disdain. "If he truly were a galactic overlord, I would certainly have heard his name. Since I haven't, it can only mean he's a nobody."

From his reaction, it was clear Thor hadn't heard of Thanos, so they didn't waste any more time on that topic.

Instead, they moved on to other important questions.

"Then... what are the Infinity Stones?" Iron Man asked again in a deep voice.

"You actually know about the Infinity Stones?" Thor's face showed surprise. He hadn't expected the people of Midgard to know so much.

"Thor, could you tell us more about the Infinity Stones?"

Seeing that Thor knew about the Infinity Stones, everyone's spirits lifted. Nick Fury immediately spoke to Thor with emphasis.

"Of course!"

"The Infinity Stones are six elemental crystals formed during the Big Bang. They are the most powerful things in the entire universe, containing the most immense power!"

"There are six Infinity Stones in total, each containing the power of Time, Space, Reality, Power, Soul, and Mind."

As Thor recounted the information, Nick Fury, Iron Man, and Black Widow's expressions became incredibly solemn.

They had already guessed that the Infinity Stones were anything but simple, but they hadn't anticipated their origins to be so extraordinary.

Thanos had already put immense pressure on them, and now, hearing Thor's words, they felt an even greater weight on their chests, as if a mountain had been placed upon them.

"What would happen if someone gathered all six Infinity Stones?" Nick Fury asked again, his face grim, after a moment of contemplation.

"Then he would possess the power to destroy the entire universe," Thor said without thinking, glancing at Nick Fury. "Why are you asking such strange questions?"

"Just asking," Iron Man shrugged, not telling Thor the truth. "These cosmic legends and such are quite interesting."

Nick Fury also didn't offer Thor any further explanation.

Although they were certain Thor would be a future ally,

and from their current interactions, he didn't seem like a bad person, but rather a simple-minded giant.

Nevertheless, they had only known Thor for a few hours and lacked sufficient understanding to share such vital intelligence with him.

"If you like listening, I can tell you more." The simple-minded Thor actually took them seriously.

"That would be wonderful, Thor. Do you know about the Chitauri?" Black Widow continued to ask calmly.

"The Chitauri? They don't belong to any planet, they're somewhat like..." Thor thought carefully, then provided a vivid and descriptive analogy, "interstellar mercenaries. They've worked for many factions."

"How strong are they?"

...Nick Fury, Iron Man, and the others began to inquire about interstellar matters from Thor.

They gathered quite a bit of intelligence.

"Nick Fury, where is it?"

While they were chatting animatedly with Thor, Captain America arrived.

"Captain, you've come at a good time. Let me introduce you, this is Thor, the God of Thunder, from Asgard." Nick Fury formally introduced him to Captain America.

Over the past few days, Nick Fury had informed Captain America about the previous two quiz sessions.

So Captain America knew about Thor and believed in his existence.

"Welcome to Earth, I'm Steve Rogers!" Captain America greeted Thor politely.

"Thank you!" Thor responded politely, then glanced at Nick Fury. "Is he the one you said could lift my hammer? I'm telling you, that's impossible!"

"We'll find out when the time comes." Nick Fury didn't say much more to Thor. Taking Captain America, the group set off again.

Thirty minutes later, everyone stood before Thor's hammer once more.

"Nick Fury, even though you all told me I would lift Thor's hammer in the future, I have no confidence right now." Captain America didn't immediately act, but spoke honestly.

"It's alright, Captain. Just give it a try. Don't overthink it." Nick Fury gestured for Captain America to proceed.

Captain America said no more. He took a deep breath, placed his hand on Thor's hammer, and began to exert force.

"This is ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous!" Thor couldn't help but shake his head repeatedly from the side. "I can't believe I'm humoring you all with this... No! How is this possible!"

But he was only halfway through his sentence when Thor let out a cry, as if struck by lightning.

His face was filled with disbelief.

Because Captain America had actually lifted Thor's hammer!
