Helena's POV
My recovery has been limited to visits from only Victor and Melanie.
Melanie practically lives at my bedside now, and I suspect she's using my condition as a convenient escape from her pack obligations. Not that I'm complaining about having her around.
I've never experienced friendship with someone my own age before.
"Melanie," Victor's commanding voice cuts through our laughter like a blade. "I need to check Helena's injuries."
Melanie shoots me a wistful glance before sliding toward the door. Her sharp tongue might work on everyone else in this pack, but she won't dare cross Victor.
He terrifies her. Actually, I'm beginning to think I might be the only person who doesn't cower in his presence.
