After the contract was signed and Mr. Steven left the villa, Annabelle excused herself, and now, Cassian was left alone.
He sat holding the signed contract, a deep furrow between his brows. He was relieved that she signed it, but he felt bad having to keep secrets from her now.
She was his wife now, and those who wished him gone would target her as well. But that was also one of the reasons he accepted the bond despite her being a human.
The longer she stayed by his side, the more likely she'll be noticed and to protect her, this was the best thing to do. Marrying her and having all of his people protecting her without complaint because it would've become their duty to do so.
The phone in his pocket vibrated, immediately followed by the mild ringtone that successfully pulled him out of his thoughts.
He checked it and found a message from his father. He sighed and opened it. It read,
"Be here in two days. The council is meeting then."
