The kidnappers couldn't string together a coherent response to the relentless questions. One of them stomped his foot in pure frustration.

"What the hell?" The leader's voice cracked with shock.
"I seriously underestimated those Zach." His jaw clenched tight. "Get the kid. We're getting out of here now!"
His two accomplices didn't hesitate—they grabbed the child immediately.
"Stay close!" The leader snatched weapons from their hidden cache, tossing one to each man before arming himself and bolting toward the exit.
