Reed's POV
Lorelei released a gentle chuckle and shook her head before turning to study me. "Mr. Zach, I think you've got the wrong idea. I'm simply wondering how someone in your position came to know Jenifer. There's obviously some connection between you two."
I found myself equally curious about how Jenifer had crossed paths with someone like Kolton Zach.
"You certainly enjoy meddling in affairs that don't concern you, including mine." Kolton had already discovered that Lorelei was my mistress, so he felt no obligation to show her courtesy.
"Mr. Zach, Lorelei meant no harm. Please don't involve someone who's done nothing wrong," I replied, displeased by Kolton's harsh tone and automatically moving to shield her.
"Oh? So quick to come to her rescue—what is she, your spouse?" Kolton's eyes sparkled with amusement.
"Mind your language, Mr. Zach. I'm a married man who adores his wife deeply." My expression hardened.
Kolton couldn't contain himself and broke into laughter.
