Cherreads

Chapter 17 - just a dream ?

I found myself standing in the forgotten temple of the fallen—but not as a child, not as the trembling creature begging for mercy, not even as the dying thing Adam last saw.

I stood there as Corruption.

And the world opened itself to me like a wound.

The sky bled darkness.Clouds twisted violently, sinking deeper and deeper into black.Rain stabbed the earth like arrows. The wind tore roofs and trees into dust.Children screamed. Mothers prayed. Priests begged.

Somehow I saw everything.Every country. Every dying face. Every prayer that would never be answered.

And yet I understood nothing.

Priests cried God's name until their throats tore open.Monks chanted holy verses until their voices broke.Everyone begged for mercy.

But mercy wasn't coming.

Because the one responsible…was God.

Then the sky cracked.

Seven holes ripped open—no, seven wounds —vomiting pillars of white, angelic light so pure it scorched the underworld itself.

Each one opened above a different land. The first over Palestine. Then Japan, Russia, Egypt, Norway—each one spreading like a curse, consuming everything it touched.

And the ninth tore open above the temple.

No one knew the reason. Not humans. Not demons. Not even us, the fallen.

Priests whispered "the promised hour,"believing the pure would be spared, that God would shelter His faithful.

But they were wrong.

There was no purity left anywhere. Not on earth. Not in hell. Not even in heaven.

Fire fell—not demonic flames, but angelic flames that burn sin itself.

The priests thought they were safe. The fire devoured them first.

Their screams ripped through my mind.Through my bones.Through my damn existence. And for the first time, even I—Corruption—felt sick.

The vision snapped back to the temple. It didn't help. The place was collapsing.

Wrath grabbed Jester by the collar and screamed,

"If you laugh one more time, I SWEAR I'll kill you before they do!"

Jester only grinned, eyes wide like a prophet seeing the end of the world.

"It's finally happening."

Lust hid behind Pride.Gluttony shivered in starvation.Sloth was awake—just that alone meant something was horribly wrong.Lucifer's eyes bled red with wrath.

And me?I just… stared.

Because the vision wasn't mine to control. It came and went like a divine heartbeat, forcing me to watch,to feel,to drown in a future I couldn't stop.

I felt like a powerless god trapped behind a window—forced to witness humanity burning, unable to move a single finger.

And even though I hated humans,this wasn't holy.This wasn't justice.

This was slaughter. This was divine madness.

Then everything stopped.

The roaring wind silenced. The burning sky froze. The sun swallowed the moon whole.

And from each wound in the sky…

They descended.

Nine figures.Nine riders.Light bursting from their bodies like dying stars.Black horses stomping across the air.Their presence alone could shatter a mortal mind.

Not angels.Not demons.Not gods.

Humans once.

Now something far, far worse.

My vision tore open—my eyes burned—my chest twisted—and—

I heard it.

A scream.

A scream so rawso brokenso full of painthat heaven, hell, and the underworld trembled together.

A scream begging for help.

My eyes flew open.

I was back in Jester's bed, soaked in sweat, limbs shaking, eyes stained in black and red.

"It… it was just a dream?"

But that voice—that scream—it was impossible.

Jester killed him.His soul should have been erased.

So how…

how was Adam screaming?
