Rick was forcefully dragged into the police van as the doors then shut behind him.
"Let me go I'm innocent", screamed Rick but all to no avail.
The van that police men put convicts were usually sound proof meaning that no one could hear the person inside the van.
Rick shifted his focus to the high speeding ambulance that had carried his wife to a hospital.
"I need to see my wife", Rick mumbled with fury in his eyes as he clenched his fists and hit on the glass window.
Thomas was still rooted to the spot dumbfounded at the scene.
There were about three police cars and several police men trying to take control of the whole situation.
He walked up to a police officer and asked,
"What happened here", to this he got no reply to.
He worriedly loiterred around the scene when he spotted Rick at a distance.
He rushed to the vehicle.
"What happened, why have you been arrested".
"It is all a big mistake. They have taken me hostage on account of what I did not do", Rick screamed back at Thomas.
Thomas gestured towards his ears as if saying 'I can't hear you'.
"Yea this is going nowhere", Thomas then mumbled to himself as he slowly left the vehicle.
Mrs. Rick POV
The situation escalated more quickly than an athlete running a hundred metre race.
One second I had slapped Velmont in the face out of frustration and the next, Velmont clenched his fists as if ready to fight.
I would have normally backed away once I saw the change of expression in the eyes of Velmont but I stood firm showing no sign of weakness hoping that it would freak Velmont out of harrasing me.
It didn't work.
He went and grabbed a kitchen knife and before I could even react, he stabbed it in my rib area.
I must have been lucky that he did not kill me at the spot.
I never knew that Velmont could be that cruel.
Everything after that experience was blurry.
I remembered myself screaming in pain. I closed my eyes for a minute and I saw Rick attending to me.
Next thing I know I see blue and red lights flash outside our house.
I knew that the police had arrived.
When I opened my eyes again, I was in a stretcher being escorted to the ambulance mini van.
The moments after appeared like a dream. One minute your in it and the next minute you've forgotten it.
The time then sprung up to 1:00AM and almost everyone in the neighbourhood were awake to see the drama of what had happened.
Neighbours were trying to visit the house to recognise what happened but the police kept halting them.
"Stop right there. Do not cross. Read the signs", was screamed at every corner of the neighbourhood as the scene had turned into an all our brawl.
The police looked in the house for any evidence they could find.
All they could find at the scene of the crime was a first aid kit which they took to holding.
"No luck. Whoever did this attempted murder is very good at hiding his tracks", the lead inspector General said with a grin shown on his face.
"Let's question the neighbourhood. One of them might have a lead".
"Bright idea", the lead inspector retorted back at the police officer with a smirk.
The inspectors than faced the neighbourhood and began questioning, one of whom they questioned was Thomas.
"So where were you when the incident happened", one of the investigators asked Thomas.
"I am not sure when the incident occurred but I believe I was indoors sleeping just like everybody else", Thomas humbly replied.
The investigators didn't have a lead.
The neighbours were sleeping and they had no idea what would have happened to cause the incident.
"So, what really did happen", Thomas then calmly asked one of the investigators who had their eyes fixed on a piece of paper as if about to discover a lead.
The investigator without hesitation explained to him that a woman in the building had been rushed to the hospital on account of a stab on the rib.
Thomas went into disarray once he heard the news.
Never in his life had he ever experienced a situation that requires the police.
He was frozen to the spot after hearing the news until and idea hit him on the head.
He soon remembered that Rick had told him that his union members were coming over for dinner.
They were the next greatest suspects that would have led to the sudden cutting of Mrs. Rick.
"Excuse me, hello! Pls anyone", Thomas waved his arm frantically as he tried to get someone's attention.
Finally, someone attended to him.
"From what I heard, Rick's union members came into his home to have dinner.
Although I don't have anything against them, I believe they should be your next greatest suspects", Thomas obliged to the investigators.
The man who Thomas was talking to is named, Zach.
He is the second in command of the project and one of the best investigators in the neighbourhood.
He considers himself a leader although he was never meant for it.
He was depromoted to second in command due to his lack of leadership qualities.
As soon as Zach heard the news he sprung up to his feet.
He knew that this could change the entire course of the investigation.
He instructed the drivers to take Rick to the police department for questioning and instructed that Thomas be taken as well.
It was at that very moment that a police officer came rushing into the scene.
"I have evidence", the man shouted as he held what seemed to be a kitchen knife covered in dry blood.
The police guard found it a few metres away while on patrol to find any evidence for the crime.
He spotted it, bagged it and took it back to higher authorities.
As suspected, that was the very knife that Velmont had thrown away while they were on the run.
Covered in dry blood, it was clear that this might have well being an attempted murder.
Some investigators were left at the scene while Zach and a few others hopped in a car and drove to the specified department.
It was useful for checking fingerprints and what not.
Thomas and Rick were driven to the police department.
Once they arrived, they were led out of the air conditioned vehicle.
It had turn dusk and the investigation in the neighbourhood had lasted for about an hour or even two.
It was the most entertaining yet dreadful experience, the neighbourhood had ever uncovered.
Rick and Thomas were then led into another well conditioned and ventilated environment with brown walls that had a crusted feel.
The department looked small on the outside but contained lots of separate departments on the inside.
As Rick walked along handcuffed they were suddenly greeted by the head of the department.
"Hello, nice to meet you", Renold assured as he stretched his hand.
Thomas responded by shaking his outstretched hand and slowly began a conversation.
"So what happened here", Renold then told the police that dragged Rick and Thomas along.
"These two have being brought in for questioning on account of what happened in their neighbourhood.
Renold stared at Rick while the police spoke without a word. Rick didn't even flinch after noticing the constant stares of Renold.
To him, Rick looked like his long lost son that went missing a few years back.
The loss of his son was one of the things that motivated Renold to become a police officer.
Rick and Thomas were then led into the questioning room. Two names though, refused to leave Rick's mind: Velmont and Greg.
