Chapter 4 - ~04

Esmira's POV

I must admit that the King was incredibly handsome. I couldn't put a finger on what his ethnicity was, but he had a strong Spanish accent.

Such thoughts brought me great shame, but i couldn't help it… there was something about him…

Even though he terrified me, butterflies still burst in my stomach once he made eye contact with me.

Once he mentioned why the guards hadn't killed me, I nearly pissed myself from fear. I was very confused as to why he was giving me a room.

Although I was grateful, I was still extremely confused and nervous. Besides- ANYTHING is better than this.

The cell I was in reeked of urine and mildew. Sleeping outside would be more humane than this...

After what seemed like forever, a woman came to the cell that they were keeping me in.

She was an older woman with silver streaks that ran throughout her hair. Her very slender frame complimented her kind eyes.

She seemed to be the most comforting thing ive come across since being here.

She seemed hesitant to approach me at first, but then she spoke. "My name is Sophia, and I am here to help you. The King wants to... house you elsewhere." She trailed off. She was so soft spoken. I almost had to strain my ears to hear her.

I nodded a bit, and she began to unlock the shackles that were around my feet. "So, what's your name?" She looked up at me curiously.

I stayed quiet simply because I wasn't sure if this place was evil or not.

What were they planning to do with me? Negative thoughts ran through my mind. Internally I was freaking out, but I was still trying to keep calm.

Was the King going to bed me? Like the men had mentioned in the woods? Is that why he's giving me a room?

When she led me further through the chambers, the sounds that I heard were disturbing. It sounded like hundreds of people screaming for help.

How big was his place?

It took an eternity to leave the basement of the castle.

Now that i wasn't tied up and being dragged to a dungeon, i was able to take the time to pay a little more attention to detail.

I looked around in awe at the beautiful building.

Enormous glass chandeliers hung from the ceilings. They had to be at least 50 feet high!

Beautiful paintings and décor adorned each room and the most gorgeous marble glass floors covered each one of them. From the fancy furniture to the old portraits of what looked like previous Queens and Kings. It was truly stunning.

We finally made it to the room that the King was giving me. I nearly gasped in shock when she swung the door open.

I instantly made my way into the room and let my eyes run wild. This place was amazing. I've never been able to experience such luxuries!

One of the walls were completely glass. It gave the room a breathtaking view of the forest. The bed was huge and had a tall headboard. The room even came with a bathroom. It had a very pretty vanity that lit up, a shower, and a very deep tub.

It got even better when I saw that the bathroom extended into a walk-in closet.

The closet was bigger than my room back at the cabin. It was very impressive.

I made my way back into the room to see Sophia with her hands clasped together. "I assume that you like?" She smiled.

I gathered my excitement and remained calm on the outside.

I kept my head down as I subtly bowed in gratitude.

I turned from her and looked at the beautiful view.

My smile instantly dropped as I continued to wonder what the hell they were going to do with me.

"Great. Well, if you get hungry there are snacks and drinks inside of the mini fridge beside the bed. And the remote to the TV is in the top left drawer in the dresser."

Am I even a prisoner anymore? I'm so confused...

I bowed in gratitude once more before she left. I was grateful for her kindness. It was something that seemed to be scarce here.

After looking around the room once more, I went to make sure that the door was locked. To my surprise, there was no lock on the door.

I slowly twisted the knob to find that the door was indeed locked, but from the outside.

So I am a prisoner, I thought.

I turned from the door and reflected a bit on the last few hours.

Whoever has the key to the door could come in at any moment. The thought of that made me feel extremely uneasy.

After keeping my guard up for the next few hours, listening for movement in the long halls and staying ready to protect myself. I had concluded that there was no one walking up or down this hall.

I looked around the room and examined some of the amenities.

I can't even remember the last time I watched a TV. The one GrandDaddy had only got four channels, plus the picture was in black and white. I've also never seen a refrigerator so... small!

I pulled myself up to my feet and made my way towards the bathroom. I'd love to take an actual shower so I could cuddle deep into these warm blankets.

Sleep was calling my name.

'When was the last time I even had a blanket this thick?' I thought.

After further inspecting the bed, I found that it even came with a heating pad. This place had a lot of technology that I wasn't used to. Being in the wilderness for so long, It seemed that the simplest things had me enamoured.

I began looking for something new to wear so I could take a shower. The closest thing to a shower I would get in the forest would be a waterfall. It's amazing what some people have at the tips of their fingertips.

I walked into the closet and the only thing that I could find were a few fluffy white robes. There were some towels, towelettes and some slippers.

Perfect, so I guess this room really does have everything.

I turned the shower on and sat on a small bench that was near the vanity. I took my long curly hair out of the bun that it was sitting in and ran my fingers through the tangles. I took my time to detangle it a bit before getting in. I also took my sweet time smelling all the different kinds of soaps, shampoos, and body scrubs that were here.

it felt nice to wash off the blood and dirt. i felt brand new.

After taking a shower and washing my hair. I decided to also take a bath because... why not.

As the water was running, I was able to find a small tray of prepared foods. The tray included fruits, cheese, bread, and a variety of different chocolates. I curiously took a sip out of one of the tall bottles that sat in the fridge.

I instantly regretted it. It was sour and it burned the back of my throat. I gagged a bit. The red liquid brought tears to my eyes. People actually drink this stuff? I put the bottle back inside the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water instead.

I made my way back into the bathroom and set everything up. I even found a book to read in one of the nightstands. It's always nice to read something new.

Once I was finally finished with pampering myself, I dried off my body with the bath towel and quickly slipped on the robe and slippers.

I dried my hair with another one of the towels and massaged my scalp a bit. My type 3 curls tumbled past my breasts. I'm in love with how this product made my hair feel. Plus, it smells amazing!

When I walked out of the bathroom, large clouds of steam entered the room. I grabbed the remote out of the drawer and made myself comfortable in the huge bed.

I flicked the TV on, and it began playing basketball. I pressed the guide button, and a plethora of different channels were options for me to choose from.

Oh my God, this place has cable!

Something I've heard Grandaddy talk about when he was still alive. Of course we never got it because we were poor, but I was amazed with how clear the pictures ran across the screen. It seemed so realistic- like I was actually there with them in the T.V.

I was in awe.

The feeling of guilt filled my chest again, but it quickly went away once I realized I couldn't escape if I wanted to. Zamora was still healing.

Throughout the night, I binge watched all kinds of different movies and series. I looked over at the clock that was hanging over the door, and it read 11:45 pm. It's late.

My eyelids began to get heavy. I didn't bother to fight the sleep that was ready to consume me. I welcomed sleep with open arms. I was so tired I couldn't even bother to turn the T.V off.

I snuggled deeper into the warm weighted blankets while sleep quickly took over my body.
