Chapter 5 - 2.2

The Plan

Three days.

That's all we gave ourselves.

Daniel, still shaken from the attack on his mom, sat beside me in his original body, tapping his foot anxiously.

"H-how are we supposed to deal with a gang in three days…?"

"We're not fighting them," I said calmly.

"We're removing them."

Daniel blinked.

"Without fighting?"

I nodded.

"By using something gangs fear more than fists."

He swallowed.

"What's that?"

"Loss."

I unfolded the plan on the table: cheap printer paper, scribbles, arrows, circles.

PHASE 1 — Information

PHASE 2 — Starvation

PHASE 3 — Collapse

Daniel stared at the page like it was a bomb.

"…Explain?"

I took a deep breath.

"R.K. gang survives on three things:

Money

Territory

Pride"

Daniel nodded slowly.

"We will take all three."

"How?" he whispered.

I pointed to the first circle.

2. PHASE 1 — Information (Soojin's Role)

I met Soojin the next evening behind the convenience store.

He leaned against the wall, reading a newspaper he clearly didn't care about.

"You want to cripple a gang?" he asked, smirking.

"You're bolder than I expected."

"Can you find their weaknesses?"

He shook the newspaper once.

"Already did."

Daniel's eyes widened.

"What?!"

Soojin handed me a folded sheet.

I opened it—and Daniel gasped.

Inside was everything about the R.K. gang:

Their hideout

Their money flow

Their stolen scooters

The teachers they bribed

The three kids who wanted to quit

The leader's real name and home address

Daniel stared.

"S-So much… how?"

Soojin shrugged.

"When you listen long enough, people tell you everything."

He took out a lollipop, tossed it into his mouth.

"I'm not helping you fight them," he said quietly.

"But I don't like trash that threatens families."

Then he leaned closer.

"And Daniel Park?

Your mother deserves better."

Daniel's fists tightened—but with determination, not anger.

"…Thank you," he whispered.

Soojin waved it off.

"Make sure you win. I hate wasting good intel."

With that, he vanished once again into the night.

3. PHASE 2 — Starvation (Business Growth)

To starve the gang, we needed to grow the business — so Daniel could cut off their income sources.

The next morning, Daniel and I woke early to prepare lunchboxes.

His mother watched us with soft but trembling eyes.

"You two boys… you don't have to work so hard…"

I smiled gently.

"Daniel wants you to rest more. Let us handle the heavy work."

Daniel nodded firmly.

"Yeah, Mom. Trust us."

She slowly nodded, still shaken from the attack — but proud.

We worked in silence, chopping, frying, packing.

Daniel gained confidence as he worked.

He tasted the soup he made himself.

"T-this tastes good…"

I nodded.

"You made it."

Daniel smiled for the first time in days.

We set out on deliveries in both bodies.

That's when Daniel realized something—

People liked his food.

Really liked it.

One office worker said:

"I switched from R.K.'s lunch mafia to yours. Their food was terrible anyway."

Another said:

"You're so polite! And the food is cleaner than theirs!"

A third:

"Tell your mother she's amazing."

Daniel's face turned red.

"W-we should charge less… or more… or should we—?"

I laughed.

"Relax. You're doing great."

For the first time, Daniel stood tall.

He believed.

4. PHASE 3 — Silent Assistance (Vasco, Zack, Jay)

We didn't ask for help.

But they came anyway.

— Vasco (Protection Without Violence)

Vasco followed us secretly — though he thought he was invisible.

Every time a suspicious guy approached our cart, Vasco "coincidentally" appeared doing push-ups or stretches.

Daniel whispered:

"He thinks he's hiding…"

"Let him. He means well."

And Vasco made Daniel feel safe.

— Zack (Territorial Control)

Zack didn't show up physically at first.

But each alley we passed through suddenly became empty.

No loitering.

No thugs.

No R.K. members.

Daniel frowned.

"Huh… this alley is usually full of trouble…"

Behind a corner, I spotted Zack leaning against a wall, arms crossed, pretending to check his phone.

He looked up for a second, nodded at me, then looked away.

"I owe you one," I mouthed silently.

Zack smirked.

— Jay (Brand Image)

The next day, Jay approached silently and handed Daniel a stack of papers.

Daniel blinked.

"These are… drawings?"

Beautiful, clean, stylish drawings of our food, the business name, and a small chibi mascot of Daniel smiling awkwardly.

He even wrote a tagline:

"Park's Homemade — Made with Love"

Daniel's eyes filled with tears.

"Jay… you… drew all these… for me?"

Jay nodded once, as if it was obvious.

He then took out a stapler and calmly began hanging the posters around school.

Daniel looked like he might cry.

"…I didn't know I had this many people supporting me…"

I placed a hand on his shoulder.

"You earned it."

5. The Three-Day Execution

Day 1 — Cut Their Income

Jay's posters + our improved food quality =

People stopped buying from R.K.'s lunch racket.

Daniel's business had doubled.

R.K.'s had halved.

Day 2 — Take Their Territory

Zack made sure dangerous alleys were clear.

Vasco made sure no one intimidated Daniel's customers.

More delivery routes → more customers.

R.K.'s stolen scooters were confiscated after Soojin leaked intel anonymously.

Day 3 — Collapse the Gang from Inside

Using Soojin's info, Daniel offered jobs to the three R.K. members who wanted to quit.

They accepted.

R.K.'s internal structure began to fall apart.

Their leader, Jinho (the real name Soojin gave us), panicked.

He sent more threats.

But we expected this.

We were ready.

6. Daniel's Growing Confidence

That evening, Daniel looked at the sales count.

His hands trembled.

"W-we… actually did it."

His mother's hospital bills…

Her medicine…

Her rent…

We could cover them.

Not completely.

Not for long.

But for the first time in his life, Daniel felt strong enough to help her.

His voice cracked.

"I can take care of her…

I'm doing something real…

I'm not useless…"

I patted his shoulder.

"You're not just getting stronger, Daniel.

You're changing your world."

Daniel wiped tears with his sleeve and stood straighter.

"I want to keep going," he said firmly.

"Not just for Mom.

But for me."

I smiled.

"That's the spirit."

7. The Storm Approaches

Our plan worked.

Maybe too well.

Because while Daniel celebrated his small victory, I sensed something.

A shift.

A presence.

The R.K. gang wasn't defeated.

They were cornered.

And cornered animals bite the hardest.

ARC 2: Daniel Park's First Business

Chapter 6 — "The Retaliation Night"

Long, slow, canon-style development with emotional weight

1. Warning Signs

The morning after the business boom felt… wrong.

Too quiet.

Too peaceful.

Daniel hummed while preparing the soup, unaware of the shift in the air. His mother smiled more today — the first genuine smile since the attack.

"Daniel, I'm proud of you," she said softly.

Daniel blushed so hard he nearly dropped the bowl.

"M-mom… please…"

I watched, grateful for her happiness — but my instincts screamed.

Something was coming.

A message buzzed on my burner phone.

Unknown number.

"They're moving tonight.

Be ready. — K.S."

Soojin.

I sighed.

So it begins.

2. Daniel's Mother Sees His Growth

We delivered lunchboxes in both bodies — Daniel in his original, me in the second.

Every customer praised him.

"Your son is hardworking."

"Your food is the best around here!"

"You're raising a great kid!"

When we returned for the midday batch, Daniel's mother stood waiting by the kitchen.

"Daniel," she said gently.

"Come here."

He froze.

"Y-yes?"

She touched his cheek.

"You're growing up."

Her voice trembled.

"You're doing this for me… but you're becoming someone stronger."

Daniel's eyes shifted, shimmering.

"Mom… I'm just trying—"

"No," she interrupted, smiling warmly.

"Before, you always looked down.

Now you look ahead."

Daniel bit his lip, tears threatening.

"I want to help you," he whispered.

She hugged him tight.

"You already are."

I looked away, trying not to intrude — but the moment seared itself into me.

This was why we fought.

3. The Gang Reacts

By afternoon, customers told us something strange:

"The R.K. boys aren't at school today."

"They usually wander around here…"

"Heard they got really pissed lately."

Daniel shivered.

"T-they're planning something, aren't they?"

I nodded.

"Most likely."

The business had damaged them.

We took their customers.

Their money.

Their pride.

A gang cornered like that would not fade quietly.

Daniel swallowed.

"What do we do?"

"Stick to the plan.

Stay close.

Observe.

Adapt."

His original body nodded.

But his second body — me — felt eyes on us the entire day.

Dark.

Patient.

Waiting.

Gapryong's agent.

4. Shadows Move — Silent Protectors

While we delivered the next route, our allies appeared silently.

• Vasco

Pretending to "exercise," but clearly patrolling.

Every time we crossed a dangerous area:

He was there.

Watching.

Guarding.

• Zack

Every alley was cleaned out.

Every route safe.

No thugs.

No dealers.

No R.K.

He was removing obstacles before Daniel even saw them.

• Jay

He followed without making a sound.

When he saw a suspicious man, he immediately stepped between Daniel and danger.

No words.

Just protection.

Daniel didn't notice most of it.

But I did.

And I felt gratitude burning deep.

He has people… real friends…

I won't let him lose them.

5. Night Falls — Retaliation Begins

We ended delivery late.

Daniel's mother kissed his forehead before bed.

"Tomorrow, let's try making a new recipe together," she said softly.

Daniel brightened instantly.

"Y-yeah!"

After Daniel fell asleep in his original body, I took the second body outside to take out the trash.

But the alley was pitch black.

Too dark.

Too quiet.

Then—

Clink.

A piece of metal rolled at my feet.

A lighter.

I grabbed it, scanning.

Five shadows stepped out.

The R.K. gang, bruised and bandaged — but eyes burning.

Their leader, Jinho, spat blood.

"You think you can embarrass us…

take our customers…

steal our members…?"

I raised an eyebrow.

"You did that to yourselves."

He snarled.

"You're dead."

They rushed.

6. The Fight Begins

Jinho's first punch was sloppy.

Desperate.

Angry.

I sidestepped, grabbed his collar, and slammed him into the wall.

Two others came from behind.

I ducked.

Elbowed.

Twisted.

Dropped them.

But they kept coming.

Not giving up.

They wanted to prove something — anything.

One grabbed a pipe.

Another a broken bottle.

I blocked the pipe with my forearm, grabbed it, snapped it across my knee, and used the pieces to trip another.

They fell like dominoes.

But I wasn't calm.

I was furious.

Not because they attacked me…

…but because they threatened Daniel's home again.

"You should've learned," I said quietly.

Jinho spat.

"We learned something!"

He grinned madly.

"You're always with Daniel!"

I froze.

My heart dropped.

He pointed behind me.

"Which means…

the other Daniel is alone."

Daniel's original body.

Inside the apartment.

With his mother.

My blood ran cold.

7. Sprint

I didn't finish the fight.

I didn't need to.

I left them crawling in the alley and ran.

Fast.

Faster.

Upstairs.

Through the hallway.

Past terrified neighbors—

I kicked the apartment door open.

Daniel was awake.

Terrified.

Two R.K. members stood inside — one near Daniel, the other holding his mother.

Daniel's voice cracked.

"S-someone banged the door… I opened it and—"

The one holding his mother pressed a knife to her neck.

"Move and she bleeds."

Something inside me snapped.

8. The Second Body Arrives

I stepped forward slowly.

Daniel trembled.

His mother sobbed quietly.

The thug hissed:

"Stay right there!

We just want the other kid.

The strong one."

I smiled coldly.

"I'm right here."

He didn't understand.

He didn't know Daniel had two bodies.

But Daniel did.

His eyes widened.

"Y-you came…"

The thug yelled:

"I SAID DON'T MOVE—"

Too late.

I lunged.

A blur.

A twist.

A knee to the stomach.

A wrist lock.

The knife dropped harmlessly.

The second one tried to grab Daniel—

I elbowed him in the throat.

Both collapsed.

Daniel's mother fell to her knees, tears streaming.

"You… saved us…"

Daniel ran to her, hugging her tightly.

"M-mom!

We're safe now…

we're safe…"

I checked the hallway.

No more incoming threats.

But I felt it again.

That presence.

Cold.

Silent.

Watching.

Gapryong's agent stood at the end of the corridor, hands in pockets.

He spoke softly:

"You reacted fast.

Too fast."

I clenched my fists.

He tilted his head.

"Interesting.

Daniel is changing quicker than predicted."

Then he smiled thinly.

"Keep going.

Let him struggle more.

Let him suffer more.

It will shape him nicely."

He walked away.

Daniel didn't see him.

His mother didn't see him.

Only I did.

And I hated him.

9. Aftermath

Daniel carried his mother to the couch.

She cried silently into his shoulder.

"I-I can't… I can't lose you…"

"You won't," Daniel whispered, shaking.

"I promise.

I'll protect you.

Both of us… we'll protect you."

She looked up.

"Both…?"

Daniel froze.

I stepped closer.

"In a way… yes.

He's not alone."

She didn't question.

She was too relieved.

But Daniel looked at me, trembling, terrified, grateful.

"You came for us," he whispered.

I nodded.

"Always."

10. The Turning Point

As the police took the R.K. members away, Daniel stood beside me in the hallway.

His hands still shook.

But his voice was steady.

"I don't want to be protected anymore," he said.

"I want to be someone who protects."

I smiled slowly.

"You will."

He stared at his hands.

"I want to get stronger…

strong enough to protect Mom…

strong enough to protect everyone…

strong enough to protect myself."

He clenched his fists.

"And with you…

I think I can."

I looked into his eyes.

Determined.

Resolute.

Growing.

"No, Daniel," I said softly.

"We'll do it together."
