Chapter 1 - "My reason to live"

January, 1 2022, It was way past the sun-lit day, as along the thick Anatolian forest trails, under the grey kissed sky, rolled along a car. It was a Zafiro Tunica. Grey yet timeless. The driver to that was a tour guide. Sharp, buttoned up. His eyes flickered to the front. The rain-mixed mud made it even harder for the vehicle move--though that didn't bother him nor did it worry the couple who sat at the back.

Because at the back was Deniz Nur Hakan. The multi-billionaire, Hakan enterprise's heir. The son whom Emre Yousef Hakan--the well known tech-tyrant of Istanbul, cherished. He entrusted him with estate keys as Nur Hakan is a simply an obeying son. He was made to rise, believed by his father. So, he enrolled him in the most elite, tech & engineering school of Ankara where he surpassed the school's board minimum.

So you see... Life outside studying was basically non-existent for the 23-year-old. And of course, a relationship was out of the question. Though this was when everything changed. The rumors of a new transfer student spread. Nur Hakan didn't pay a thought as this had been prior to the finals which were in few months.

One evening at the library--the door clung. A smooth, velvety voice--undeniably feminine fell. Nur Hakan adjusted his glasses, just for a second, his head rose. There he saw her--Eylul Duru Aksoy. The transfer surrounded by other students. And... my God, she looked stunning. From her curly, golden locks that cascaded her nimble face and the smile on her rose lips. She stood there, poised like a porcelain doll. His mouth parted unknowingly--though he looked away before she could. Just few minutes later, she approached him. Her friends side-eyed each other. Nur's head snapped back up when she let out a cough.

"So you are Nur Hakan?"... her brows raised. He gives her a rigid nod. Never really looking at her, "Why...yes"... She tilts her head. People had said right, Nur Hakan was absolutely striking. From the little white patch of hair on the carved jaw of his. She smiles, "Very nice to meet you"... Nur panics when he saw her extending her hand. He rubbed the back of his head and got up, I... uh... her brows furrowed. "What is it Nur Hakan?" He looks away, hands trembling behind his back, "I cannot... give you a handshake"... She tilts her head, "Why can't you?... germs?" What-yes! ... he gives an awkward smile, I am sorry... he murmured and quickly leaves the area.

Eylul frowns at the weirdness of the entire situation. Weeks passed. Nothing changed other than the little timid glances he gave. Yet every time she looked, he would look away. So, she also began to avoid his eyes. Though that didn't last long as they were to be a partners in a project.

When reading out the partners, they both gave each other a surprised glance. Later in the same library they met and began to work on the project. Surrounded by others. They sat across from each other. The awkwardness soon melted as Eylul chuckles at his jokes. Oh stop... she hid her face, suppressing her laughter. She then tilts her head in awe, "I don't understand how you are still not in a relationship"... she murmurs, absent-mindedly. Nur's brows shot up, "What do you mean by that?" he asks. "Well... she looks to the ceiling light, "You are wickedly smart, good-looking and insanely rich" his lips curled in amusement "What about yourself Eylul?"... Her eyes snapped to his, "And...what about me? I am still exploring my choices" The blonde take a thread of her lock as she then twirled it around her finger, "I Want someone who can make me feel... like their everything" Nur listens in. "Someone who will...cherish me not just for my body... but me" She lets out a dreamy sigh. "Though, it seems that... that is quite impossible" She then smiles at the roof.

He tilts his head, "Not really... actually, it is very much possible" She shot him a look, "You think so" her eyes were slightly wide. He hums, "Yeah"... silence fell. She gets up, "Great working with you Hakan, I will take my leave" her fingers clutching around her bag, See you"... Nur nods. "See you"...

The following months were like that, polite conversations fueled by assignments. The more and more they work together--a tiny spark ignited. So tiny that it was barely there. Yet, she noticed it first and how it started to slowly grow. The awkward conversations that followed by both of them looking away or when other boys who tries to talk to her getting a death glare from him. He was falling for her and harder.

Finally with the arrival of graduation, Nur Hakan confesses his love to her. He asked for her father's number and soon they met. The family was ecstatic and welcomed him in. Nur contacted his father, though he couldn't reach him. That is when, Ali Demir, his father's right hand man contacted him. He told him that, he must return to the estate at once as his father knows about his situation. When Nur did. He was met with an mad, Emre Hakan. His own father.

In the grand hall of Hakan estate. Unlike other times, it now seemed gloomy, perhaps a little too much as only the chandelier above provided some sort of light. Emre Yousef Hakan stood, his hands clenched,

"I never permitted you to marry her"... he says without looking at him. Nur Hakan's eyes fell then he looks to his mother. Her face was unreadable, she clasped her hands tight and looked away. Nur's jaw ticked, "Father... I have always obeyed you... I studied as you liked and never even dared... he shakes his head, to speak unless spoken to"... "Everything that I ever done was to satisfy you"... "I have never... disobeyed you--BUT YOU DID! NOW YOU DID! Emre turns to him. His jaw clenching like time, "HOW DARE YOU GO YOUR WAY AND TRY TO MARRY INTO FILTH! his chests heaved as he ran a hand through his hair. His mother, Mrs. Hakan's hands hovered over her husband's back. Her voice came out panicked, "Honey... take a breath, Please--though he shrugged of her hands.

"How... can I when my own son, betrays me?" He looks at him with great fury. Nur gives back the same, "Betray? he inches in closer, I betrayed you?" "Oh yes, you did!" Emre spat. Nur looks to the ground, "If loving Eylul meant, to betray you... he sweeps his gaze up, ocean-blue eyes staring on to a pair of a more commanding ones. "Then.. I like to remain your traitor"... his voice came out low, hoarse.

Sen hasta boksun! (You sick bastard) Emre's voice sizzled. He took him by his collar, breath hot against his face, Tüm bu zaman ve yılları senin sonunda böyle biriyle olman için harcamadım! (I didn't put all these time and years for you to end up with a _Profanity_ ) A muscle in Nur's jaw flexed, "How... dare you...?" His mother gasps. Nur...! she hisses. Emre Yousef's eyes darkened, this was his son. His own flesh, drawing sword against him "Go, now" he ordered. Nur stood there without a flinch. "GO, BEFORE I DO SOMETHING THAT I WILL REGRET!"

Nur nods, still having his eyes on him, he then turned and walked out like a storm. Leaving the place, leaving everything. Now only the sobs of his mother and anger of his father was there. Emre gives a cutting glare of Nur's trail.

The following months passed as Nur Hakan & Eylul Duru Aksoy's wedding took place. Her family and only his mother were present. The sheikh said his prayers. The whole time they both smiled, gazing at each other with a sort of excitement and endless love.

After the ceremony, his mother made her way to Eylul, her now step-daughter. She looked at her with motherly love. "Ah... kizim" (My daughter) Eylul smiles. "May you always smile, may your touch turn into gold" Nur clasped his hands. She looks at him, "Nur... even if a drop of tear were to fall from her eyes, I will blame you" He nods, lips curling as he gave Eylul a look. "That mother... you do not have to worry" Mrs. Hakan pats his back.

Few months passed. Eylul grew weaker. Nur too noticed it. He saw how she pressed her lips when the nausea hit her. How her rosy face grew paler. He insisted on taking her to the hospital yet each time she rejected it. Then the inevitable happened. Eylul in the washroom. Two fingers clutching on a pregnancy test. She stared at the two red stripes. It was as if they were staying back at her. Her breath shuddered, slightly.

Later in his study. Nur Hakan sat by the rolling chair. His jacket draping over the leather as he skimmed through the documentations. His credentials. He was preparing for work all while trying to built his own. He has a wife now. Although she may not depend on him--he wanted to provide for her.

Just then--the door opened. Nur's eyes flickered up, there she was, Eylul. She clasped her hands, the light illuminated her nimble frame. She looked the same he saw her the first time. His lips curled in an absent-minded manner though they faded once he noticed her face. Her eyes were low as she gritted her lips. She was hiding something.

Nur rose to his feet, "Eylul"... a murmur. She lowers her head, "Nur"... Every step of his falling with a thud as he then finally stood in front of her. He clasped her face, eyes softening. "Eylul...?" he whispers. Her eyes were anywhere but his. "Look... at... me" she did. He gazed on to her emerald-orbs. The lamp's glow further softened her features.

"Nur... I am not sure how to say this"... her voice trailed off. "What is it? tell me... Eylul, you are making me worry" He urged. From her behind, she brings the test upfront. The crease on his brows vanishing as he stared at it. His mouth parting. Then--the night hit him. Where he hadn't been himself. Where he lost even the little thread of control he had. After seeing her, that small, so vulnerable. His lips curled in a victorious grin.

Eylul looked to the ground, anxiously. "Y-You are...?" She nods slowly. "Listen... I understand if you do not want to--He quickly wrapped his arms around her waist. Pressing her against his chest. "Eylul"... a muffled whisper left his lip. Her breath caught as she felt his pulse. How they quickened with every breath. Hot tears pooled over Nur's eyes, they clung on to the bush-like lashes of his. "So y-you are not angry?" The hold of his tightened as he scoffed, "Why would I ever be... silly?" they parted, just a bit. He pressed his forehead against her. Looking on to her. "You made me so happy"... his voice, deep. She smiles graciously when he pressed a peck on her cheek. His lips traveled to her jaw as he then left peppered kisses. Making her legs weak. With a hold of her waist, he swept her up the ground--earning a soft gasp from her. He nuzzled his face against hers, fervently. She giggles freely as the small spikes of his bear grazed her. He then turned to the door. Upon opening it, he strode to the master bedroom. He gives the door a little tug and it was open.

Nur set her on the bed, "Rest, it will take some time for me to sleep"... He turned to leave, just by the door. Then--"Nur"... her voice came out. He glanced at her from above his shoulder. "I love you"... He smiles, "I love you as well"

The following months moved in that same peaceful rhythm. The pair were then on their honeymoon to Cappadocia. The few days together were lovely as Eylul's pregnancy also progressed. The mornings were like this. Her waking up with his tender, kisses. A stroll at the Cappadocian land. Sight-seeing the magnificent, magenta sky and the hot air balloons.

This was when they took a ride through the forests with a rental car. They sat at the back, completely oblivious to the rain and the mud slowing them down.

Nur...!

Eylul, playfully swatted at her husband's defined chest. Though he only gazed at her with a curl of his lips, hands finding her back, slyly as he pressed her against his shoulder blade. "Oh come on"... he murmured, "You are too composed, after all... he arched his head back, "We are on our honeymoon"... The emerald-eyed women smiles to that, her hands grazing at the growing bump on her belly. "Eh ya... I just wish...this could end sooner" a sinful grin spread across Nur's mouth. "Why aren't you saying anything?"... she shot him a look--only to meet his face. A quiet understanding passes by them. "Nurrr"... her voice drags as she buried her face on his chest, delicate fingers clutching at the crisp edge of his collar.

The pad of his palm found her stomach. Feeling in the life beneath her. His blood & Flesh, their own child. He gazed at her, lovingly. She had changed him, she really did. He remembered that once fiery, sophomore girl who stole his sleep. She owned him and still do.

A low chuckle then came from him. "What else could I have done, Eylul...? he tucks a blonde thread of her hair in her veil, "When you marry to the most beautiful woman... which man will just watch her?"... his fingers now circling her cheek before letting it drop to her lips, "Wouldn't he become mad like me for you...? hmm? you tell me?" he pouted, teasing. she looks to the ground, her face turning a bright shade of scarlet.

He then took her by her chin, "eyes on me sweetheart"... she shot him a look-- the blue sapphire like orbs of his, bored on to her with that same fire. With the same burning passion. Her fingers then shot up, almost instinctively. Tilting her head as she grazed the sharp edges of his jaw.

"Your father didn't approve of this did he?"... Nur looks away, his hands leaving hers as he then stared outside the drenched-soil. Eylul's eyes dropped, a sort of coldness pricked at her since he took his hands away. "Nur... I didn't mean to--What...? Eylul? his jaw hardens along with his striking face, "Weather my father approve of this or not... I wanted you"... Her breath hitches. The blues of his eyes flicking, "So... I have you" She hums, "Okay...okay... I am sorry--for what? he asks, still not looking at her. For making you angry... his brows shot up, "Well... you did, there is no going back" he states. He then watches her from the corner of his lashes, she puckered at her lips.

"Though, you could do something to change that" she gives him a rare glare, "You know... sometimes you are beyond infuriating"... The corner of his lips twitched yet he suppressed it. She then sighs and clasped his face, "Such a baby"... a murmur. He gives her a feral smirk, "Well... they do get lots of kisses"... She let out a soft chuckle. "Perhaps you got more... a murmur. "More... than any infant" He melted at her words. "What if I want even more?" They then leaned in almost in sync, heads tilting as if to breath in each other's form. She giggles. "Then... I must say, you are a little too greedy" "Yes, I am and you may pay for it" he smirks. Just as their noses grazed--the engine came to an abrupt halt. The driver's eyes darted between gears and the front. "What happened?" Nur questions him as Eylul's attention was also steered to the front. "I am not sure, Mr. Hakan, I guess there is a little problem, I will step out and check"...

The driver went outside. Nur also turned to the door, he squeezed her hands, "Wait here"... "But Nur... her mouth parted. "Eylul... please, don't argue, you are pregnant and I do not want you accidently slipping and hurting yourself and the baby" she gazes at him for a second or two then nods. Nur pressed a lingering kiss to her temple as he then, clutching on a jacket, stepped out.

As soon as he did--the rain instantly soaked him. Little droplet's clung to his curly locks as he strode to the front of the car. Though when he did make it to the front--the driver was nowhere. Nur's brows furrowed, his head turning to the car's window. Inside Eylul watched him, fingers clasping her pearl necklace.

Nur's lips curled, he then rolled up his sleeve and began to work on the part self. His eyes yet flickered to her from time and time as unease settled in him. Eylul sighed though she wanted him to get back in. Her eyes searched for the driver from both her sides, who now gone missing.

Just as he was about to close the hood--an ear-piercing shot went out. Then followed by multiple. Nur's body involuntarily arched as the bullet pierced through his back. It was hot and oozed blood. His eyes widened, breath shuddering from the impact as to her horror, his knees gave up.

"NUR!" a cry. she leapt from her seat, hands clenching around the door handle as she got out. As soon as she stepped foot on the sturdy, mud. Her own body weighed her down. Still she supported her self. One hands being at her back and the other on her stomach.

"Ahh"... a trembling breath. Her lips quivered as the cold hit her. The rain instantly soaked her to the bones. "N-Nur"... His eyes went to her, "STAY INSIDE!" he ordered her. Yet she continued to make her way to him. With little steps.

Nur arched his head back in pain, G-God... he looked at her again, at Eylul. How her chest rose and fell with every step and how her palm was glued to her stomach.

From within the bushes, Cenk--an agent of Emre stood by. He gazed at the pair to his front. His eyes then went to Emre, "Boss"... Emre didn't look at him, his eyes were fixated to Nur Hakan, His son. Then to the women, his wife. "I warned him"... a beat, "Drop it" he commanded. "B-But, boss"... He gave Cenk a glare. "As you wish"... he then lowered the weapon from aiming at her.

N-Nuur... she dropped beside him on the ground. The rain mixed-scent of her made him awake. She took his head to her lap. Fragile fingers grazing his face in a repeated manner, "N-Nur... a trembling whisper. His eyes shot open, he looked at her in a dazed manner. "Eylul"... he grunted when the pain of the fresh wound on his leg hit him. Her eyes flickered to it, she then without a thought tore her veil and wrapped it securely around him. "N-Nur"... little droplets that clung to her hair fell on him. "Eylul... w-why didn't you leave?" She looks away, sighing. Though he pressed, "Eylul...! leave...! he ordered. She shot him a look, face tear-streamed, "Where Nur...? how can I, when the father of my child is fighting for his life?" she shakes her head. "H-How c-could I even t-think about m-myself...?"

His hands shot up to her face, clasping it, "Eyluul... go... he urged. She shook her head. "At least think about our baby! go, now!"... "Whoever is doing this-they want me"...

Cenk gazed at his boss, though Emre stood there like stone. His jaw hardened. He then made his way out as Cenk followed him behind with two other men.

E-Eylul... leave... though she held him even with his protests. Nur's hands then clenched around the soil as he rose. Her hands still hovered above his back. She got up, cradling the swell of her belly all while still clutching his shoulder as he got up.

Nur... slowly... she murmured. He gazed at her then at their surroundings. Though only vast Anatolian forest laid head. The soil around their turned a shade of copper--probably a result of his blood and rain. Eylul's hands stayed fixed to his, her breath faltering with every passing minute as he turned to her. He clasped her face, forcing her to look at him.

Eylul... a low, murmur. She didn't look at him. Not immediately. Tears clung her lashes. He grazed at her damp hair, leaning in, "Hey... its okay"... He then pressed her fragile body against him. His siren-blue eyes squinting as he looked from afar. Because from afar stepped out.

B-Baba...? (Father) Eylul shot him a look then seeing his face, she turned slightly to see the men walking towards them in no hurry. She then felt him shake her. "E-Eylul... she glanced up at him. Seeing the terror on his face, a bitter feeling settled in her. "Eylul"... he murmured once again. Though, she didn't reply. Looking at them, it was if someone lodged a stick in her throat.

Nur then quickly took her hands--"c-come on"... he says and began to sprint. His father's men ran after them. With Emre only walking. His face the whole time didn't change.

Hah... hah... hah... their breath faltered--though didn't dare to stop. They were soon in the very middle of the forest. Anywhere they saw. Only trees and the build-up fog that enveloped their surroundings.

Just then--her hands shot up to her stomach. For a second she paused. Nur gave her a glance, "Eylul...come on!" she gazed at him, her lips parting ever so slightly. "Eylul...?" She let her eyes drop to her belly as Nur did the same. "I-Is it happening?"... she shook her head, "I-It hurts"... Ah G-God... his eyes flickered up then down. He clasped her hands, "You can do it, we are only a little far away from getting out of this area" She shakes her head, lips gritting, "I Don't know how long though"...

Just as they were--a man from behind grabbed Nur and shoved him to the ground. "NUR!"... Eylul's eyes widened, her chest tightened. "EYLUL!"... he shouted back. As another man grasped her arms. Nur wasn't to be suppressed by just one man as another also came and held him to the ground. They made the both of them kneel. Nur gazed at her then at Emre who walked towards them.

His jaw hardened, his hands clenching as he shot up with a grunt--though the two men who held him bought him down.

"YOU...!" his voice broke the barrier. Chest heaving rapidly. Though Emre only watched. He strode to him slow steps, hands clasped behind his back. "You know... seeing you like this... his voice seethed, "Joys me"... Nur's jaw ticked. "After all... you deserve it!" "You deserve every single thing that happened to you" Emre fisted his hands, "You know after you left... all I can think was--FROM WHERE DID YOU FIND THE COURAGE TO GO AGAINST ME?" he ran a hand through his hair. Nur didn't respond, he just watched. His eyes burned through him. "Look here... Nur" Emre gives Eylul a glance. "I can either give you something... or simply take it way" He points to her. Nur's gaze went to followed, his eyes widened. He shook his head. Eylul's head was facing the ground, the pain increasing by every second.

"D-Don't you dare do anything to her"... he warned. "K-Kill me, take me!" He shook his head, lip trembling, "B-But leave her"... Emre only looked at his men. He gave them a nod. Nur shot up to his knees once again--though his men held him back.

Cenk bought the dagger to forth. As Eylul looks up. "NO! FATHER! I BEG YOU! FATHER!! FATHER!! I BEG YOU!! TAKE ME! KILL ME AS YOU LIKE!! Nur cried out. Though Emre only stood there. Cold, calculated. Cenk then hands it to Eylul. The weapon was sharpened to pierce through at once. Her lips quivered as her shoulders moved in little sobs.

He watched her clutching on to it. "You bought this one your own... Eylul shook with a broken sob. "End it with your own hands... maybe that will teach my son to obey me and me only"... Nur shook his head, No... no... Eylul, look at me... LOOK AT ME!! she did. There she saw a broken, Nur Hakan. Kneeling into the floor, begging pleading. Barely restrained. Then at the tyrant. Emre Yousef Hakan. How he didn't once move. He only watched. Eylul Gazed at her stomach, she palmed the curve of her expectant belly.

"Eylul... Eylul Aksoy... He gazes at her, head tilting, "Don't do it"... he shook his head. His arms clenching like time, showing of the prominent veins. Though, even admits his request, she brought the dagger up her collar bone. "NO! no... ah* no... The green of her eyes flickered up, "Forgive me, God"... she then gazed at him, "Deniz Nur" her lips forms a smile, though tears still clung her eyes. "You came into my life like a stranger" He drops his head, tear swelling in his eyes as they clung to the bridge of his nose before falling on the soil.

"Now I leave as your wife" she chuckles, "I wanted to give you a child, your own flesh & blood, though... God didn't permit me to do so"... "What a shame...?" She looks at Emre, her jaw clenching in that instant, "What a shame... Nur looks up. The dagger was extremely close to the vein. She then brought it up even closer, murmuring a prayer.

"Nur... he didn't look at her-not immediately. "Eylul...!" He yelled. "D-Do you regret marrying me? do you regret wasting your time with a coward such as me?" She smiled, "Not even for a second" "May you be happy, Nur... He shook his head* "Wherever and whenever, may you never frown"

With that--she connected the weapon to her throat. Piercing through the soft flesh. A sharp pain shot through her as blood sprung out.

"EYLUL!!" Emre gives his men a look. They let go of him. Nur crawled towards her. Her head dropped to her sides, eyes rolling back. Just as her body met the ground--He caught her. He placed her head on his lap.

EYLUL...! EYLUL...! E-EYLUL...? Eylul... he wrapped his arms around her as he then bought her face to his chest. He cried out. Every inch of his muscle ached. He then cupped her face, "E-Eylul"... a broken whisper. His lips trembled. She was long gone. Even in death, she looked so beautiful. Her eyes were wide opened. A mesmerizing green. Her cheeks were still that shade of pink. She was an angel, she was his angel. Nur brushed his hands against her stomach. The life beneath her? gone.

Tears clung his eyes, they clouded his vision. "Ah... I-I l-love you... I-I love you so much" he murmured repeatedly. The past months have been like a fairy tale. A beautifully written one--though was erased. Like it had never happened. Like they had never kissed. Like she had never...been? Now he sits in the pool of their own blood. With the men and his father leaving the place. Nur Hakan's tired eyes began to shut as he found himself passing out.
