Under Jin's simple introduction,
Kevin roughly understood what 'Qi' was, and its more accurate term when in use—'Nen'.
Every living being has Qi within them. This is the form expressed by life energy.
However, not all living beings can control and use this flowing life energy; only through rigorous training and comprehension can one manipulate and utilize it.
Such individuals are called Nen Users.
Kevin found this term strange, thinking, "Shouldn't they be called Qigong Masters or Qi Refiners or something similar?"
When he was about to inquire further, Jin refused him.
"It's not that I don't want to tell you, but I roughly understand your current situation," Jin pointed at him and explained simply, "Your current situation is very special, and I believe you understand that yourself. You should already know that the original 'you' was also a Nen User. Given your situation, the best approach is a combination of explanation and rehabilitation simultaneously; that way, it will be more efficient."
Kevin couldn't help but nod, because Jin was right. He really wanted to say, 'Then why don't we start now?'
But he found it hard to speak, as in a sense, Jin didn't owe him anything; rather, he owed Jin quite a lot.
However, Jin's words interrupted his thoughts. "It's not that I don't want to teach you." He shook his phone, "It's that I have important matters right now, and they've been delayed quite a bit because of you. Explaining is not simple, and the time required for rehabilitation means it won't be over in just a day or two."
With that, he stood up, sighed with a hint of melancholy, and looked at Kevin with an almost lingering gaze. "To be honest, I'd be very happy to provide you with some training and guidance, but unfortunately, I have more important things to do. If you trust me, I'll find a teacher for you, and I'll come find you when I'm free later. How about that?"
He asked.
Kevin didn't know Jin well, after all, he had only spent a day with him.
He could only simply judge that the other party might not be a bad person and was extremely interested in his situation. Without spending too much time thinking, Kevin nodded.
"Thank you."
Jin smiled and shook his head, "Don't worry about it. You don't consider me a friend, and I feel the same. However, when it comes to fulfilling a transaction, as a Hunter, I am trustworthy in that regard." With that, he immediately took action, opened his phone, and dialed a number.
"Hello."
— — — — — —
The petite girl looked at the disconnected phone, a thoughtful expression on her face.
"Teaching assignment? Strange."
She had just received a mercenary mission from a very well-known Nen User—Jin.
As a famous Hunter, she had, of course, heard that name. After all, he was quite renowned, though she didn't have much interaction with him. It was more about his actions and the praises she had heard from her old man.
To be honest, she hadn't really wanted to take on this mission, even if the other party was the famous Jin.
However, as a well-known Gem Hunter, he offered a price that was enough to make her take action. Not to mention, she was actually quite suited to take on this mission right now.
She put away the handsome men's magazine covering her legs, jumped off the stool, and shouted towards another training room, "Yun Gu, we're going out."
"Ah? Yes!"
From the lounge came a vibrant voice. A tall, bespectacled young man walked out, wearing a martial arts uniform that looked like it was for some kind of judo training.
"Even during daily training, you must maintain your posture!" the girl said in dissatisfaction.
"Ah? Sorry! Sorry!" The young man nodded repeatedly in apology, straightening his ill-fitting uniform.
...
"This should be your previous campsite. You can search thoroughly here to see if you can recall more memories," Jin said, then took out a stack of documents and handed them to Kevin. "This is what I found about you, including your registered address and property."
After speaking, he decisively drove away in a jeep, leaving Kevin alone in the simple campsite.
"Whew!"
Taking a deep breath, Kevin calmed his emotions.
"Alone now, in a strange world... sigh, since I'm here, I might as well make the best of it."
Comforting himself with strange words, Kevin cheered up and looked at the campsite.
This should be the predecessor's campsite, with a black jeep covered in fallen leaves parked nearby.
The campsite was very simple, just a pitched tent. He had gone inside and found nothing but a sleeping bag.
Clearly, his original self didn't seem to want to stay here long.
After a quick tidy-up, he got into the car, picked up his belongings, and started the ignition.
Fortunately, the vehicle's layout seemed no different from his previous life, and the operating logic was identical. The only thing that was hard to accept was the phone; it was still a bulky device with no touchscreen, let alone navigation.
He studied the map while driving forward.
It wasn't until near nightfall that he finally drove out of the nature reserve.
The guards on the road didn't stop him, and he drove smoothly into the city, finding a hotel to book a room.
After dinner, he sat on the balcony, looking at the brightly lit city below. It looked no different from his previous life. However, he knew in his heart that it was no longer the same world.
His mind couldn't help but start thinking about his future life.
He had just gone to an internet cafe to learn more and had also wandered the streets for a long time.
What was certain was that his combat strength should be invincible among ordinary people, provided they didn't use guns, but he also had one. This at least gave him some confidence and a sense of security.
First, he definitely needed to fully understand 'himself': his name, identity, and relationships.
Then, he would leave this city and take transportation back to his 'home'.
He would learn about this world and wait for his teacher to arrive. Well, the teacher arranged by Jin should be a very reliable person.
As for money, to be honest, he felt he wouldn't be short of it in the short term.
He had checked at the bank, and his bank cards combined held thirty-seven million jenny.
The purchasing power of this currency called jenny was roughly equivalent to the Japanese yen in his previous life. He could only rely on this conversion to understand and integrate into his life faster.
This amount was definitely enough for him in the short term and was a source of great reassurance.
