Zarek kept his eyes locked on her, waiting.
"I lied to you," Eliora whispered and looked down at her hands, unable to meet his gaze anymore. "The pills. My father didn't send them to help my skin. That was a lie."
She took a deep breath and looked back at him. "I requested for them myself."
Zarek sat up straight in the bed and rested against the headboard, his eyes narrowing as he stared down at her.
"What are they for, Eliora?" he asked. His voice was low and flat, but there was an edge hiding underneath it.
Eliora felt panic creep up her spine, her hands twisting together on her lap. "Please just listen to me. Let me explain the whole thing."
She opened her mouth, but the words got stuck in her throat.
"They..." she started, her voice shaking so badly she could barely speak. "... they are..."
A line appeared on Zarek's forehead as he demanded, his voice growing sharp. "They are for what, Eliora?"
