Chapter 26 -  [26] Ron's Reckoning

Ron snatched the textbook that Argus had placed on the ground.

Riding on a flying broomstick, he had a smug expression on his face.

It was as if taking something from Argus was something to be proud of.

"Mr. Weasley, I advise you to put your things down."

"Otherwise, I guarantee you'll regret what you've done!"

Argus's cold voice rang out.

He didn't want to stoop to the level of a child, but the other person kept taking advantage of his kindness.

Don't blame him for being impolite!

Ron shuddered and shrank back in fear.

But the thought of so many people watching him made him grit his teeth and bear it for the sake of his pride.

"A tattered book, who cares!"

"Come and get it yourself if you dare!"

After saying that, he immediately rode his broom and flew away into the distance.

"Weasley, stop right there!"

Draco grabbed a broom and chased after him.

Fueled by his inner rage, and with Draco's superior flying talent compared to Ron's, he quickly caught up.

Even though he was a step behind, he quickly caught up with Ron.

"Weasley, you have brought shame upon your family!"

"Shut up, Malfoy! Your father was a Death Eater, and you'll definitely be one too! You're just as disgusting as your friend!"

"What did you say! Say it again if you dare!"

"A dark wizard's friend is also a dark wizard! None of you are good people!"

Draco's face flushed red with rage, and he charged toward Ron without regard for anything else.

The two chased each other, completely forgetting Mrs. Hooch's earlier instructions.

They flew higher and higher, already well beyond the castle!

But Draco's flying talent far surpasses Ron's; among his classmates, only Harry can outshine him.

Before long, Draco caught up with Ron.

He reached out and grabbed his shoulder.

"Weasley, stop right now!"

Ron struggled fiercely, and the two were locked in a stalemate, with both brooms teetering on the brink of collapse.

The students below gasped in surprise.

"Argus, will they be alright?"

Daphne, Draco's future sister-in-law, looked worriedly at the two people in mid-air.

Argus' eyes were cold, and his tone was filled with strong confidence.

"With me here, nothing will happen."

Actually, he didn't have a bad impression of the Weasley family.

In the original story, the Weasley family members are considered perfect in terms of both talent and strength.

Charlie raises a dragon, Molly kills Bella with three silent spells, and Percy defeats the puppet minister of the Ministry of Magic...

Apart from Ron, almost the entire family consists of top talents.

Ron's talent wasn't bad, but it was somewhat inferior to that of his siblings.

Otherwise, he would never have become the prefect of Gryffindor.

Unfortunately, he was too jealous.

This can be seen from the fact that he had a falling out with Harry because he was jealous that Harry could participate in the Triwizard Tournament.

"I can't control whether you're jealous of Harry. But you dare mess with me? If I don't teach you a lesson, you'll really think I'm a pushover?"

Argus used the wide sleeves of his wizard's robe to quietly conceal the wand he had taken out.

His gaze was fixed on Draco and the other person on the flying broomstick.

...

High in the sky.

Ron twisted and turned, trying to shake off Draco.

Draco seemed glued to him; instead of widening the distance, they were getting closer and closer.

Ron, having just enrolled, dared not disobey Madam Hooch's orders.

Especially when points had already been deducted that morning.

He could only wander aimlessly around the castle, trying his best to evade Draco's pursuit.

"Evil Slytherin!"

"Don't give me a chance, or else..."

"Weasley, do you think you can escape!"

While Ron was still rambling on, Draco came chasing after him from below the castle.

A loud shout startled Ron, who nearly slipped off the broom.

By the time he regained his balance on the broom, Draco was right in front of him.

The two shuttled back and forth in mid-air.

Seeing that he couldn't shake off Draco, Ron simply threw Argus's book far away.

It hovered in mid-air, as if looking defiantly at Draco.

"Go ahead and chase it! If you're so capable, keep chasing it!"

"Asshole!"

Draco glanced at the book that had been blown about by the wind, glared at Ron, and then turned and chased after the book.

Draco's astonishing talent was on full display as his green robes transformed into a streak of light, even though Hogwarts' brooms were outdated after many years.

Just as Draco was about to grab it!

Suddenly, a soft sound came from the flying broom!

It turned out that...

The brooms at Hogwarts had been used by countless generations of students and were now old and worn out.

How could it withstand such intense flight!

The broom broke in the middle!

Draco plummeted straight down!

The speed was getting faster and faster!

On the lawn, countless people were in a state of panic.

At that speed, if it were to make direct contact with the ground, anyone with a brain could tell the consequences!

It's either death or serious injury!

"Transfiguration Spell!"

At the critical moment, Argus's spell was released in time.

Bang!

At the last moment, the grass on the ground turned into mattresses.

The impact was mitigated before Draco landed.

Even so, Draco was still completely disoriented from the fall.

Argus's eyes were icy as he stared intently at Ron in mid-air.

While retrieving his wand, he cast the spell again.

"Finite Incantatem!"

The incantation was soft, a force that broke spells by removing any binding on the body.

There was no sound or light.

It hit Ron's flying broomstick directly!

Whoosh!

Ron's flying broomstick seemed to suddenly malfunction, and he fell straight down from the sky.

Unlike Draco, he didn't have Argus to help mitigate the impact.

Bang!

A cloud of dust rose as Ron collapsed to the ground, his arms and forearms contorted in a bizarre shape.

A painful wail!

Argus sneered, not even glancing at him.

He came to Draco's side.

"How are you feeling?"

"Don't move. I'll take you to Madam Pomfrey!"

Draco looked up in confusion, saw Argus, and smiled.

He reached out and handed over the book he was tightly holding in his arms.

"Argus, your book!"

"You..."

Argus wanted to get angry, but looking at Draco's battered body, he couldn't bring himself to say anything to scold him.

He is also a human being; he needs friends and can be moved.

He glanced at Draco with a complicated expression.

"Don't do that again. It's just a book; you can just throw it away."

"I'm glad you're alright."

"Merlin's beard, can anyone tell me what happened?!"

When Madam Hooch arrived late and saw the scene before her, she let out a sharp exclamation!

She almost fainted.

After learning what had happened from the other students, Madam Hooch completely lost her temper.

"Mr. Weasley, are you ignoring what I said?!"

"Disobeying classroom rules, being jealous of or insulting classmates, and stealing classmates' textbooks!"

"For your despicable behavior, Gryffindor, deduct fifty points!"

Gryffindor erupted in groans, and everyone glared at Ron with disgust.

They were simply at odds with Slytherin, but that didn't mean they were incapable of distinguishing right from wrong.

Ron's actions had crossed their line!

As the Quidditch referee at Hogwarts, Madam Hooch was an extremely fair person.

She couldn't tolerate even the slightest imperfection.

She stared intently into Ron's eyes and spoke each word carefully.

"I will tell Professor McGonagall the truth about what happened today!"

"Also, from now on, bad kids like you won't be welcome in my classes!"

In one sentence, Ron's reputation at Hogwarts plummeted.

This also sealed Ron's fate in Quidditch.

She turned to look at Argus, her tone tinged with apology.

"I'm very sorry, Mr. Grindelwald."

"Due to my negligence, you were treated unfairly in my class."

"Once Mr. Weasley has recovered, I will personally bring him to apologize to you."

"Madam Hooch, you couldn't have foreseen everything, so there's no need to blame yourself for it," Argus gently shook his head.

"This is not your fault."

"Besides, I didn't lose anything."

"A tolerant gentleman!" A smile finally appeared on Madam Hooch's face.

"Your courageous act of saving your classmate earns you ten points for Slytherin!"
