Racine took a quick jump and a few stomps to check the grip and sturdyness of his new shoes.
"Looks good on you" Carlyn muttered, "Those was my favorite pair. to think i spend so much money to buy them only to never wear them"
The Olympic medalist laughed, "On the process of safe keeping them so they don't became worn down, I find myself unable to even use them"
"Are you an awakened?" Racine changed the subject after all remembering the familiar face smiling back at the advertisment and the figure in front of him make even his heart ache.
Carlyn laughed, "Yes, Yes i am. They gave me a [Hunt] Ability, A skill that could multiply my Agility stat by three"
Racine gupled at the man's response, "Wasn't that supposed to be a secret?"
"What's the point i can't use them anyway" Carlyn tapped his legs that lay limp, "I can't ran anymore" his voice cracking.
Racine's eyes lowered at the thought.
To athletes who had spend so much time just to climb on the top, Only for it to crumble just after brief moments of reaching it.
Carlyn then reached out his hand towards Racine initiating a hand shake, "Take care of those shoes for me"
"I will. after all the one who gave it to me was the most fastest runner i knew"
Racine briefly shook hands with Carlyn, An ache registering on his legs but Racine shrugged it off.
Wearing his gloves back on again, Racine felt uncomfortable while walking away but he couldn't exactly stay like earlier.
He had after all already wasted so much time.
Racine opened the cementery gate having the same thoughts as him he had encountered a few people there.
still none of them talked to each other however a little kid did gave Racine a small basket of flowers.
Racine took it and offered a cracker to the boy in return.
After getting inside Racine locked the gates behind him and scattered the flowers to offer to the graves after that he head upstairs and fixed the tables and chairs there to make a barricade that sealed the entrances.
Racine wrapped around some threads to the baricades, every metal bar and every entrance then he arrange them to a chair where he can visibly see if any movements happened.
Racine hid himself behind two chairs that could serve as small barricade he make sure he can acess the top entrance if he had to make a run for it.
Like that Racine stayed for what's too come.
[Day 1 starts now]
Racine's grip on the clothing pole hook tightened.
...
Carlyn Diaz tossed the final gin bottle he had as his time has come.
He was a burden to his family and friends to keep around.
With the money the only thing that really kept them on not leaving Carlyn completely useless now.
Carlyn was abandoned.
Well its not his first time being abandoned born on the streets Carlyn was actually a snatcher on his youth.
Outrunning the police and the owner of the bags and wallets he steal.
He still remembered it. the hideous past he had and yet the kindness his coach had given him. for a second chance.
And right now his gonna die.
At first Carlyn thought the undead would be zombified limping mess who would attack him but no.
Watching from upstairs of his three story mansion Carlyn saw the undead chase after other people with speed similiar to an average runner.
The confidence that he had gathered by drinking alchohol crumpled when multiple heads snapped all at once at his direction.
Then they ran towards him with the speed one would consider for an athlete.
Locked gates was useless with them jumping and climbing.
Carlyn find himself rushing to push himself forward the third story rather he went splat to the floor that be taken apart by those things.
But before he could do so his chair was thrown backwards the mansion and he find himself sprawled to the floor.
The undead had made their way in before he could even do anything.
'I need to run' Carlyn thought to himself a small seed of survival sprout on his chest.
His whole body screamed for him to run as the undead reach for him.
With his death looming closer snipets of the past entered his mind.
"Carlyn, Come to mama" A memory of his mother who smiled at him as he took his first steps.
"Don't think of anything. Just run, Run till the wind brushed against your face, Run till you see the flashes, RUN TO THE END OF THE LINE!! Because that's your dream wasn't it?" Carlyn remembered his coach saying to him.
Despite knowing it won't work nor listen to him anymore, Carlyn pushed his body forward.
[Activating your ability [Hunt] Sucessful]
With speed he didn't know before Carlyn's body moved leaving behind only his after image in the process.
With looming death behind him, Carlyn ran with a smile.
'Right, Everyone has their own abilities that means there are other who could heal others too' Carlyn thought to himself.
"..after all the one who gave it to me was the most fastest runner i knew"
With tears falling down his face, Carlyn embrased the wind that brushed past his face as he ran barefoot towards the open road.
Multiple undead chase after him awaiting to strike if he had just slow down for a few seconds.
Still Carlyn was happy.
'I won't forget this chance you gave me'
