Chapter 17 - CHAPTER 17: BAIT

"I am going to tell you about two kinds of lycan; the ordinaries and the black lycan", Hewlett announces as we follow the three rail line after resting in the night. "Werewolves and ordinary lycans share the same weakness of silver", He stops. "Almost forgot", Hewlett takes out his Ichikota and pulls out a grey robe.

"What's that for?", He could've changed earlier. Wait why is he handing it to...Oh no, no, no, no. Am I still wearing my torn clothes from earlier?! "Uhhghh...".

"Seems like you forgot that you were walking around....", He then looks at me in the most judgmental way he could muster, "like that".

"I knew what I was doing!", Look at me trying to help myself. "I meant, I knew my clothes are torn but-

Hewlett bursts out laughing. "Wow!", he says wiping his eyes of tears, "You really have a way for saying things you do not mean Yori", How does he know about that? Whatever, I take the robe and try it while Hewlett keeps going. "Where was I...?".

I think I remember, "You were-

"Ahh right! I was talking about the ordinaries", I catch to him as he tells me about how the ordinary lycans are the cause of werewolves and that black lycans can't make werewolves at all and the only way to get a black lycan is from two black ones. Ugghh reminds of my mom...But what stuck with me was a black lycans weakness, my weakness, gold. It is kinda rare out here but that doesn't mean most large groups don't have it.

The Faith most definitely has some. I can see how my kind would be a problem enough for them to stack up on it after fighting Benson. He nearly killed Hewlett and me. I notice my hands shivering and try my best hide it. Hewlett says I'm strong enough to fight Benson if I put my mind to it but I still can't beat him, and that he's about an even match for him so we should be good since we're both gonna give it all we've got. I hope.

Something strong hits my nose..., food! Sweet, delicious non-bread food! "We're here?!".

"What?", Hewlett asks as if he was in his own thoughts before I said a word, "Yeah, we have entered the borders of Omach town". The words 'Welcome to Omach' are plastered on a tall large metallic bill board on the side of the road the rail line crosses. We begin to follow the road as the scent of amazing food earlier is getting way stronger. Motorcycles leave and enter the town alongside buses all filled with people. This all feels so, big.

"I don't sense Benson", I let Hewlett know. There's too many things I'm picking up and focusing right now might give me a headache.

Hewlett answers with, "There is a larger number of people here than you have ever seen and it will only get worse from here onwards", Worse than this! Master Dell should have told me about this. I don't know, maybe he did. "Towns like this one are so self absorbed that they would not believe you if you told them you are a werewolf, let alone a lycan", Hewlett continues as if noticing my climbing anxiety.

"How will we find him though now and won't the other members of The Faith here notice me?", There is so much that could go wrong, I can feel my heart beat going through the roof. I am severely out of my element here. Why did I think it was a good idea to come here?

"I can tell you are beginning to judge the weight of this plan", Hewlett waves his hand looking behind me. I look back and its a bus that's pulled over behind me. "Come", Hewlett tells me as he walks to the bus.

"Wait!", He stops before the bus door and looks back. It would be rude if I assumed anything. I run to him and whisper, "I don't have the kind of cash to get on that bus, truth be told, I don't have any cash at all".

"It was on me to begin with", Hewlett whispers back. I'm glad he did. I don't need an entire bus of strangers hearing how poor I am.

"Ah-ah", The driver lets out, stunned after seeing us from the little mirror, top center at the front of the bus. "We have members of The Faith with us, this will be a good day for us", He says in a sunny tone.

The bus felt unbearably hot inside every time it stopped and when it moved really fast the fresh air would make me occasionally doze off. Hewlett didn't say anything about the plan. Its not like I can ask him on this bus. I should be careful too.

The more time that passes in the bus, the larger the buildings get. We reach the tar covered roads in about an hour. I tap Hewlett on his knee, "You really were right! There's too much to hear and smell!", There goes my dignity again. In a bus this time.

Hewlett returns a faint giggle. Even before we reach the station, I hear the sound of bus conductors shouting destinations I don't recognize at passer byes.

The bus finally arrives at a station. "This is our stop", Hewlett says with a tap on my shoulder. We step out of the bus and sit on a free bench under the shade of a tree.

"I know you have been waiting for an answer to your quarries", He stretches out his arms and legs. "This city has more members of The Faith too. That's the main reason it has a transport Ichikota but as long as you are next to me, you will not be hunted down".

"That's nice to know but how will we know where to find Benson?", The people here might still be in danger. It's the job of The Faith members here to protect them but I'm not okay with the idea of Benson being here because of me.

Hewlett must have been cooking up an amazing plan-"You'll be bait".

"How did I not see this coming?".

Hewlett answers, "Do not worry, the black lycan is already here somewhere", I flinch. "We will find him when it is night time. Which is give or take an hour from now".

"Cool", I quickly answer. My nerves have gotten the best of me. I've never hunted a werewolf before. Let alone a black lycan. I'll use everything Master Dell told me and the tips from Hewlett. Tonight.
