Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Back in the Lead!

Chapter 26: Back in the Lead!

In Stevens's office at the FBI's Los Angeles field office, Marcus listened to Stevens's explanation. Could he blame Kyle?

Kyle had only made a mistake that any man would make?

Stevens could tell what Marcus was thinking just by looking at his expression. "Initially, Kyle wasn't with Sarah; he was secretly protecting her."

"Then the Terminator T-800 found Sarah?" Marcus had already guessed the answer.

"Yes," Stevens nodded. "Our rescue was a step behind. It was all thanks to Kyle saving Sarah that they developed feelings for each other. After two or three years of struggling with it, Kyle and Sarah finally got together."

Marcus sighed. "I don't blame him. What about Jackson, Rodriguez, and Williams?"

"They're senior agents in our Los Angeles field office now. We've established the 'Terminator Division' to specifically handle Terminators. The three of them each lead a team of twenty people," Stevens replied.

Marcus nodded slightly. "Over the years, how many Terminators have you dealt with? Have you encountered any different Terminators?"

"We dealt with 41 Terminators in total. 40 of them were exactly the same as the original Terminator T-800. Only one Terminator resembled you, but its internal structure was identical; it was also a Terminator T-800 model," Stevens explained.

"Were they all destroyed?" Marcus pressed.

Stevens shook his head. "No, we followed your original procedure, removing the Terminator T-800's power cells before destroying the other parts."

"So you stored 41 power cells?" Marcus felt a mix of amusement and exasperation.

"Yes, we kept them all for you, in case you need them someday when you return," Stevens affirmed. "Don't worry, all these power cells are sealed; no one has touched them."

Marcus was secretly moved. Even though he wouldn't stay in the Terminator world forever, he didn't treat the people in the Terminator world like NPCs in a game.

The people in the Terminator world also have lives and feelings!

Take Stevens, for example. He knew perfectly well that keeping the Terminator T-800's power cells would be problematic, but even after waiting for ten years and not knowing if Marcus would return, he still saved them for him.

"You're something else..." Marcus sighed.

Stevens interrupted him with a hearty laugh, "What brings you back this time? Has your future changed?"

Marcus hesitated and shook his head, "The future has changed very little! There have been some positive changes, but essentially no difference."

"Huh?" Stevens was taken aback.

Marcus waved his hand, "Don't worry about the future. I've come back to tell you that a big problem is about to arrive."

"A big problem?" Stevens asked, puzzled.

"Yes!" Marcus said confidently, "Skynet is about to send a more advanced and powerful Terminator to assassinate John Connor. As for Sarah and Kyle, I believe they are also targets."

"A more advanced and powerful Terminator?" Stevens hesitated, "Do you know anything about that kind of Terminator?"

"I know. However, time and fate have shifted, and the present and future are constantly changing. I don't know when that more advanced and powerful T-1000 Terminator will appear," Marcus explained.

"How powerful is that T-1000 Terminator?" Stevens focused on the key question.

Marcus quickly explained the T-1000 Terminator. After Marcus finished speaking, Stevens's brows furrowed deeply.

"Is the T-1000 Terminator really that powerful?" Stevens added, "Marcus, are you sure?"

"Do you think I would lie?" Marcus retorted.

Stevens smiled wryly, "If that's the case, it'll be very difficult for us to deal with it!"

"I know," Marcus nodded affirmatively, "but it's not impossible."

"Hmm?" Stevens asked, puzzled.

"The liquid metal Terminator is indeed very powerful; conventional weapons are completely ineffective against it, but that doesn't mean it's utterly invincible. I have a preliminary plan for four methods to neutralize it," Marcus explained.

"Four methods?" Stevens pressed, "Tell me! Then I'll arrange for people to prepare in advance. By the way, Marcus, since you're back this time, I plan to arrange for you to join the Terminator Division. You'll become the head of the Terminator Division, and concurrently serve as the assistant director in charge of field operations."

"Will D.C. agree to that?" Marcus countered.

"Our field office has a high degree of autonomy in personnel management," Stevens replied. "D.C.'s task force is also aware of the crisis posed by Skynet and the Terminator."

Marcus breathed a sigh of relief, "That's good!"

His biggest worry was that humanity in this era was overly ambitious, researching the Terminator T-800 and causing Skynet to appear prematurely.

Marcus added, "According to my plan, there are four ways to deal with the Terminator T-1000. The first is to use liquid nitrogen. With the ultra-low temperature of liquid nitrogen, we can temporarily freeze the Terminator T-1000."

"But that won't completely eliminate it, will it?" Stevens asked doubtfully.

Marcus nodded affirmatively, "If it's just liquid nitrogen, then it's indeed difficult to deal with the Terminator T-1000. That thing's adaptability is too high; it's extremely difficult to completely eliminate it."

"What about the other three methods?" Stevens pressed.

"First, it's still the same method as dealing with the Terminator T-800; the ultra-high temperature of thermite can eliminate it. However, to be on the safe side, we can freeze the Terminator T-1000 with liquid nitrogen, then transport it to a steel mill and put it into the steelmaking furnace," Marcus explained.

This method is the solution from the original Terminator 2.

"The second method is also to use liquid nitrogen to freeze the Terminator T-1000 first, then put it in industrial acid to decompose it," Marcus explained.

This method also seems reliable!

Liquid metal Terminator T-1000 in industrial acid—just thinking about it is quite dramatic!

"The last method is high-voltage electricity. Again, we'll freeze the Terminator T-1000 with liquid nitrogen first, then use high-voltage electricity to destroy it," Marcus stated the third method.

Stevens nodded repeatedly, "These methods are indeed excellent. I'll arrange for people to prepare them immediately."

"Okay," Marcus replied.

"There's another problem. According to you, the Terminator T-1000 can transform into anyone. If we stay inside the field office, given the existence of the Scanner Corridor, the Terminator T-1000 definitely won't be able to get in," Stevens paused slightly.

"But what if we're operating in the field?" Stevens expressed his concern, "What if the Terminator T-1000 transforms into one of us while we're operating outside?"
