Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Unexpected Survivor

The girl under the moonlight was so beautiful. Looking into her eyes, Li Ke took a deep breath, but in the end, he didn't leave.

He gently sat down in the corner, and the girl nestled into his arms, burying her head in Li Ke's chest.

  She was too terrified.

Li Ke gently embraced the girl, letting her lean against him. He could easily feel the warmth of her body and her incredibly alluring fragrance...

Although the smell of blood had replaced some of it, there was no doubt that this smell was also a considerable challenge for him at this moment.

Not to mention that the girl's body was so full and soft that she didn't look like a girl at all; strictly speaking, she looked more like a ripe peach.

"Speaking of which, Food Wars! is an ecchi anime, right? And she's supposed to be a blonde tsundere?"

Li Ke gently stroked the girl's back, comforting her while recalling the story.

If he remembered correctly, the other party was definitely a tsundere, but judging from his encounter with her, she was not a tsundere at all, but a typical delicate young lady.

Although she is a chef, she is indeed a rich young lady, and a rich young lady who rules the food industry in Japan. She is a super rich young lady who can have the young lady of a large meat products group as her follower.

"If I were in her world, I probably wouldn't have any chance to interact with her, right? But speaking of which, I actually prefer the girl named Ikumi..."

The influence of the environment is so astonishing, it can turn a proud person into someone so fragile.

But as Li Ke reminisced about Food Wars!, he suddenly remembered that he preferred the character who was completely obsessed with selling sex appeal, the blonde bombshell who always had something to say about A5 meat.

For no particular reason, it's just that her breasts are large and exposed, which makes people...

  "Hmm..."

Erina Nakiri's exclamation rang out, and Li Ke then remembered that he was holding a beautiful young girl in his arms whose figure was in no way inferior to that of the voluptuous woman, and that her current position was just right so that she could feel the changes in him through the inside of her thighs.

Li Ke coughed awkwardly twice, but to be honest, he was too hot-blooded to be thinking about such things. To his surprise, even after noticing his change, the girl in front of him, who was only wearing a shirt, did not leave.

Like an ostrich, she clung tightly to Li Ke's neck, unwilling to pull her head out and face this cruel world.

Li Ke could only sigh, pull the blanket off the bed, and cover the two of them together, then they fell asleep in each other's arms on the floor.

When dawn broke, Li Ke was still the first to wake up, not for any other reason than his bladder, which was about to explode.

Before Erina Nakiri woke up, Li Ke carried her to bed, while he rushed into his bedroom and relieved himself with a discarded plastic bottle.

But when he put his pants back on and came out, he saw Erina Nakiri wearing only a shirt, leaning against the door frame, looking at him with a slightly flushed face.

When Erina Nakiri was noticed looking over, she instinctively turned her head away and spoke softly.

"It's not like that, I'm... I'm worried something might happen to you..."

Such an arrogant demeanor is truly delightful, especially when another adventure is about to begin.

When Erina Nakiri had finished dressing, Li Ke came over with the leftover food from yesterday and shared a can of luncheon meat with her.

"We're running low on food, so we have to scavenge for some today and try to find a safer place, or maybe find a tire to change in this vehicle."

Li Ke hadn't expected the zombies to be so powerful at night; their speed, strength, and even their detection range had all increased.

Moreover, the wolf packs at night are a major problem. If the zombies hadn't driven the wolves away, the first thing they would have faced today would have been a wolf attack, not anything else.

  "Um."

Erina Nakiri glanced at the dwindling amount of food left and nodded. She naturally knew why there wasn't much food left—it was because of her.

Yesterday, Li Ke clearly looked like he was looking for food, but he stopped because of her. Besides, with her there, the food consumption rate doubled, so she had no objection to looking for food with Li Ke.

"So wait a bit and put on some thick clothes that you can take off quickly but won't restrict your movement too much. I'm worried there might still be a pack of wolves nearby, and wait until I say it's safe before you come down."

Li Ke continued giving orders while eating luncheon meat, and he finally got to see how Erina ate her luncheon meat.

  "good."

Erina took a deep breath, and under Li Ke's gaze, she cut the luncheon meat into delicate small pieces, poured in a large amount of honey, and drank it down like medicine, without any intention of chewing or even wanting too much of it to remain in her mouth.

Compared to Li Ke's slow and careful eating, this behavior was obviously very wasteful. So when she saw Li Ke looking at her eating with curiosity, Erina Nakiri lowered her head uneasy.

"I... I can only eat this way."

Li Ke didn't care about such things. He could feel the girl's resistance when she ate, especially her subconscious vomiting, which was not fake at all.

"It's okay, people always need a period of adjustment."

He smiled, put the last few pieces of luncheon meat into his mouth, then took out the last two bottles of water, handed one to the girl, and poured his own into his honey jar.

Erina held the water level, but for a long time she didn't have the courage to open her mouth, so she spoke with a very low mood.

"Someone like me, burdened with a curse, must be utterly useless, right?"

For the first time, she hated her tongue so much.

If it weren't for it, she would never have been discovered by the zombies so easily, and her encounter with Li Ke would have been much more relaxed, instead of being a complete burden, and a picky one at that.

"Probably. I don't have your tongue, so I can't understand your feelings. Therefore, I have no right to comment on this matter. However, what I do know is that the most important thing for us now is to live well."

Li Ke remained noncommittal; they might not even have a tomorrow now.

Erina Nakiri still didn't understand where Li Ke's calm attitude in the face of despair came from, but she nodded seriously nonetheless.

  "Um."

After Erina Nakiri barely finished eating and the two of them rested for two minutes, they put on the coats they found in the RV and began to work hard for today's food.

"If there are wolves later, protect yourself first, don't worry about me."

Before opening the door, Li Ke took a deep breath. He wasn't sure if there were any remaining zombies outside, nor if there were any wolves, so he had to prepare for the worst.

Holding an axe and carrying a sharp kitchen knife, Erina Nakiri nodded, a serious expression on her face.

"Yes, I will try my best."

  "Okay, let's go!"

Li Ke's heart began to pound. He opened the door and leaped out. The sound of him landing on the ground wasn't loud, but it was enough to alert the zombies.

But the bad thing he had imagined didn't happen. There seemed to be no zombies or wolves around; it was as if they had all left the area.

The two carefully explored the area around the RV and breathed a sigh of relief after finding no zombies or wolves. Li Ke naturally turned his attention to the house next to the RV.

He didn't dare to loot here before, for a simple reason: because of the zombies.

There were several zombies at the entrance of the town, and the densely packed rooms were also full of traces of zombies.

Once a battle breaks out, almost half the zombies in the town will be attracted, and that will be truly disastrous.

But things are different now. Now, most of the zombies inside have been lured away, and Li Ke also needs to verify something.

Most importantly, there's a supermarket very close to the RV, and yesterday's wolf pack also attracted all the zombies inside.

If possible, Li Ke wanted to see if the supermarket had a large amount of supplies.

Li Ke and Erina carefully stepped through the grass and approached the house closest to them. Li Ke peered through the broken window at the decaying floor and surroundings before they entered through the broken door and cautiously began scavenging.

There wasn't much food left in the room; Li Ke and the girl only found some vitamin pills and candy, but they unexpectedly discovered a box of gold bars on the table.

Normally, Li Ke would have been extremely happy, but in this world, gold bars were of no use, so Li Ke simply took one as a souvenir to ensure he didn't leave empty-handed, and then left the room with Erina, heading towards the next room.

The second house went very smoothly again; they didn't encounter any zombies and reaped a great harvest, finding three cans of chicken and some well-preserved ham.

  only...

  "That's strange."

Li Ke looked at the empty bedside tables and various storage cabinets and spoke up speechlessly.

  "What's wrong?"

Erina Nakiri, who was searching for various edible seasonings, looked at Li Ke with some confusion.

"Everyone says that everyone in America carries a gun, so why doesn't that apply to me?"

Li Ke was very puzzled by this. It would be unrealistic to say that they hadn't searched thoroughly; they had opened every drawer in order to find anything useful.

But we've been in two rooms, and we haven't seen a single bullet casing, let alone a pistol!

  This is simply unscientific!

"Perhaps, they're all in the hands of their original owners?"

Erina didn't know what to say, so she could only smile awkwardly and then come up with an explanation.

  "I guess so."

Li Ke shook his head. He really wanted a gun, especially a submachine gun. That way, even if he encountered a large horde of zombies, he wouldn't be without the confidence to fight to the death, and at least he could die with some dignity.

Unfortunately, he hasn't managed to find a single gun yet, which makes him very uneasy.

Although he would never use it, having it and not having it are two different things.

And what if there are other survivors...

Taking a deep breath, Li Ke put these distracting thoughts aside. Last night, when he was holding Erina Nakiri to sleep, he noticed that the girl had started to have a fever, just like him. So, there was a high probability that the two of them didn't need to worry about other survivors.

"Alright, let's go to the next room, and then we'll check out the supermarket one last time..."

He packed the food the girl had prepared into his backpack and turned to leave with her, but at that moment, both he and Erina Nakiri heard an announcement from behind.

  "The store is open!"

Along with the sound, a sound similar to unlocking a door also rang out. Li Ke and Erina looked in astonishment in the direction from which the sound came, and then saw a building with a strange flag fluttering behind the house.

  The sound came from there.

The two looked at each other and then nodded.

If there are other survivors here, that would be the best thing. Since they're open for business, it proves that human order still exists!

As for why the two of them subconsciously thought it was a human broadcasting?

  The reason is simple.

The town has been without power for a long time.

Not to mention this kind of broadcast, even the lights don't turn on!

"Check carefully. If it's a place with timed broadcasts and there are zombies nearby, we should run away as soon as possible."

Li Ke gave instructions in a low voice, and the two of them tiptoed toward the direction of the broadcast. Then they saw a fortress surrounded by countless barbed wire fences and walls, and the gate was obviously reinforced with sturdy materials such as sheet metal. It was a fortress that was very suitable for survival in the apocalypse!

Within the barbed wire fence, inside a tin-roofed house with railings, a woman with a stethoscope around her neck stood quietly behind a counter! Not only was there no sign of decay on her body, but she was also breathing normally.

The reason Li Ke was so certain was because she was big!

With each breath, the thing in her chest was swaying!

And most importantly, there was no trace of zombies inside!

  "A living person!"

A look of surprise flashed in Li Ke's and Erina's eyes. The next moment, the two of them headed towards the place where there were living people.

As Li Ke approached the store, he made a point of checking the building for any zombies hiding behind doors, but there were none. In fact, there wasn't a single other person there!

However, Li Ke also noticed something was amiss.

  The merchant inside.

  seems...didn't noticed them?
