Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Distant Frontier

"Whoosh—"

A biting cold wind howled from outside, seeping through the window cracks into the carriage.

"So cold..."

Draconis, still in a daze, was immediately awakened by the cold wind.

This was the interior of a lavishly decorated, classical carriage. The wheels creaked, and the carriage seemed to be slowly moving across a snowy landscape.

Draconis paused, subtly observing the unfamiliar surroundings.

Had he transmigrated?

As a flood of unfamiliar memories rushed into his mind, he quickly understood his situation.

Good news: he had transmigrated to the wonderful Pokémon world.

Bad news: he had transmigrated to the Pokémon world several millennia ago, still in the Middle Ages... In this era, Pokémon had not yet integrated into human life as they did in anime and games. Humans here were filled with fear towards Pokémon, even calling them 'demonic beasts.'

And the original owner, whom he had transmigrated into, was a sixteen-year-old prince.

The original owner's name was also Draconis, originally the Third Prince of the Eindoak Kingdom. However, in recent years, the Old King's health had gradually declined, and Draconis's two older brothers had begun to contend for the throne.

Since ancient times, the struggle for the throne had been exceptionally cruel. Brothers vied for power, with the victor becoming king and the vanquished falling. Fratricide and patricide were common occurrences.

To protect his somewhat incapable youngest son, the Old King, knowing his lack of ability, directly granted him a relatively fertile territory, arranging for him to be far from the royal city to live out his days peacefully in his own domain.

However, the Old King did not anticipate that they would be delayed on their way to the territory due to an attack by wild Pokémon, causing them to not reach their destination even after winter had set in.

Under the influence of a Blizzard, Draconis's group became lost in the vast snowy plains.

The original Draconis, unable to endure the freezing cold, unfortunately passed away.

After organizing the memories in his mind, Draconis felt a mix of emotions.

Eindoak... wasn't this the location from the movie "Victini and the Black Hero Zekrom and Reshiram"?

This meant that his two 'convenient' brothers were the ones chosen by the Legendary Pokémon Zekrom and Reshiram?

Draconis was momentarily at a loss for words.

But he quickly calmed down.

"At least I know my current location is the ancient Unova region from several millennia ago, and not some even more dangerous world..." Draconis thought silently.

He pondered his current predicament in silence.

But just then, Draconis suddenly noticed something moving beneath the royal velvet blanket with classical patterns beside him.

Draconis was slightly startled. He tentatively reached out and lifted the blanket. The next second, he saw a mysterious creature, snake-like in appearance, slender, covered in pale blue scales, with a bright white underside.

It had a pair of purple, gem-like eyes, a small white protrusion on its forehead that was a developing horn, white fins on either side of its head, and a large, round, white nose on its face.

At this moment, this mysterious creature was looking over piteously with its large, watery eyes.

It was snowing heavily outside the carriage, and the temperature inside was not high. This mysterious creature was shivering from the cold.

The moment Draconis clearly saw its appearance, he froze in place.

This was... a Dratini?!

The juvenile form of Dragonite, a pseudo-legendary Pokémon!

How could it be here?!

Draconis was quite shocked and tried to search for relevant memories in his mind.

Soon, he found the answer.

It turned out to be a gift from the Old King to keep him entertained before he departed.

Dratini did not exist in the Unova region. This Dratini was a precious tribute from a foreign country.

Because of its weak strength and gentle nature, without the aggressive desires of other demonic beasts, it was very suitable as a pet.

And this Dratini was the "gift" the Old King had given him to alleviate boredom.

"Woo..."

Having lost its blanket, the Dratini couldn't help but shiver, emitting pitiful whimpers.

Draconis: "..."

Right.

As a Dragon-type Pokémon, Dratini was naturally afraid of cold and ice.

He re-covered the Dratini with the blanket.

Just then, the slowly moving carriage suddenly stopped.

Accompanied by a rustling of footsteps approaching from a distance, the carriage curtain was pulled back, and a young man, approximately twenty-five years old, wearing medieval armor and a helmet, appeared outside.

The moment the curtain was opened, a biting cold wind blew in from outside. Draconis looked out and saw a thick layer of snow covering the ground, and many people standing on the vast snowy plains.

According to the original owner's memories, those people were the retainers and subjects arranged by the Old King to accompany him to his territory.

The young man then spoke anxiously: "Prince Draconis, many people in the group have developed high fevers. If they don't receive timely treatment and rest, I'm afraid they won't be able to continue!"

Hearing this, Draconis looked at the people outside.

Having inherited the original owner's memories, he knew that these people were the subjects accompanying him to his territory.

Their group originally consisted of over five hundred people. The original owner's father, fearing his youngest son would suffer hardships outside, had arranged a large number of retainers for him.

These included butlers, guards, knights, maids, carpenters, blacksmiths, gardeners, landscapers, barbers, chefs, and so on.

But currently, fewer than a hundred remained.

Due to attacks by wild Pokémon and a terrible Blizzard, many people had been lost, and many others had been separated from the main group.

The Pokémon world was vast and sparsely populated, especially in this era where human combat power was limited, and Pokémon were regarded as terrifying demonic beasts. As a result, most humans could only huddle within their settlements, rarely venturing out.

Under the influence of various factors, those who had been separated from the main group were likely to have little chance of survival.

Draconis's expression was somewhat grim.

He looked at those people.

The people outside the carriage were also looking at him.

Women holding children, girls with frozen red cheeks, guards with frostbite on their ears... Some people had ashen faces, their eyes revealing despair. Many had lost friends and family in the terrible Blizzard, feeling their lives were hopeless.

But at this moment, seeing Draconis emerge, they still couldn't help but cast glances filled with a hint of anticipation and hope, placing their hopes on this noble and important figure.

Draconis: "..."

Without sufficient food or shelter, not just them, but even Draconis felt that his life was over.

In such extreme weather, they simply couldn't endure and reach their destination!

But just as Draconis's gaze lingered on the group of people, a panel suddenly appeared before his eyes.

Draconis immediately froze in place.

Was this... his Cheat?

"Prince Draconis..." Seeing Draconis in a daze, the young knight in front of him couldn't help but call out.

He was unwilling to die in vain in this desolate place, but he could no longer think of any solutions, so he could only place his last hope on the Prince he had always protected.

Hearing the other party's call, Draconis snapped back to attention. He shifted his focus from the Cheat, looked at the crowd before him, and carefully considered his current predicament.

They had already lost their way, and given their current condition, they clearly couldn't continue to advance aimlessly.

In such weather, they would likely freeze to death on the road.

It was freezing cold, and it was winter. The most important thing now was to find a place to shelter from the wind and snow.

But staying in this vicinity was clearly not a wise choice.

Draconis cast his gaze into the distance. Not far away, at the end of this plain, snow-covered mountains and forests could vaguely be seen.

Clean water, ample food, and enough timber to build shelters, as long as they could survive this cold winter.

The only fortunate thing was that, thanks to the Old King's generosity, the convoy had brought a wealth of supplies, including food, clean drinking water, various daily necessities, tools, and even various crop seeds.

But it was December now, and it would be at least two more months until this cold winter passed.

Draconis mentally calculated the food reserves. According to the current number of people, the food was roughly enough for them to last through the winter.

The food problem didn't need to be worried about for now. Draconis pondered briefly, then looked up, scanned the crowd outside, and then turned to the knight named Ryan before him, saying:

"Temporarily halt our advance, Ryan. I need you to scout the mountains ahead and try to find some caves or places with natural cover."

Ryan was startled, but he quickly reacted and immediately responded: "Yes, Prince Draconis!"
