My heart's on a binding vow

Season 1 – Episode 1

Demonic Realm

The sky burned.

Not with fire alone—but with hatred, despair, and endless war.

A vast demonic realm stretched beyond sight, its land torn apart by countless clashes. Armies of demons, monstrous beasts, armored warriors, and twisted entities collided in an apocalyptic battlefield. Roars shook the heavens. Blades screamed through the air. Magic tore mountains apart. Blood—black, red, and unnatural—soaked the cracked ground.

At the heart of the chaos, two demons stood apart from the rest.

One was clearly losing.

His breaths were heavy, uneven. Dark veins spread across his body, poison eating away at his strength. His once-overwhelming aura flickered like a dying flame.

The other demon stood tall and unshaken.

Cold eyes looked down at the weakened one with nothing but contempt.

"Fuga… weak."

The stronger demon stepped forward and raised his sword. There was no hesitation. No mercy.

The blade pierced straight through Fuga's chest—through his heart.

Fuga gasped, his body trembling. Pain surged through him, but his eyes remained sharp. With the last of his strength, he slammed his hand against the ground. A dark portal opened beneath him, swirling violently.

His body fell backward into the void.

The portal snapped shut.

The victorious demon watched silently, his expression unchanged.

"It's over," he said calmly.

"Everything is mine now."

The Mortal Realm

The world shifted.

Kingdom of Cristal de Frost

Towering ice walls surrounded the kingdom, shimmering under a pale sky. Crystalline structures rose proudly—until screams shattered the illusion of peace.

Monsters flooded the streets.

Fire clashed against ice. Beasts tore through buildings. Entire homes collapsed as citizens ran for their lives.

Among them was Yowai Sato.

A young commoner, breathing hard, sprinting through the chaos with fear in his eyes—but also determination.

He tried to help.

He dragged people away from danger. He shouted warnings. He picked up a fallen weapon with shaking hands.

But he was weak.

Too weak.

Monsters surrounded him. A heavy blow sent him crashing into the ground. Claws tore into his body. Pain exploded through his limbs as he cried out.

Just as darkness began to creep into his vision—

Royal soldiers stormed in.

Blades flashed. Magic erupted. The monsters were driven back, forced to retreat.

One soldier turned toward Yowai, eyes filled with irritation rather than concern.

"Why did you come out again?" the soldier snapped.

"You know you're weak. Go back inside, peasant."

Without waiting for a response, they pulled Yowai up and escorted him away.

Yowai's Home

Yowai lay on a bed, his body wrapped in bandages.

Every breath hurt.

Standing over him was Nasuya Sato, his mother—the capital's head doctor. Her face was calm, but her clenched fists betrayed her anger and fear.

"Why do you keep doing this?" she demanded.

"Everyone told you to stay inside. Even me. You have no strength. You're only going to kill yourself."

Yowai turned his head slightly, voice weak.

"I'm sorry… I just wanted to protect our home. Like Dad did."

Her expression hardened.

"You're not him," she said sharply.

"Don't follow someone else's footsteps. Recover. I don't want to see you like this again."

She turned and left the room.

The door closed.

The Neighborhood

Later that day, Yowai stepped outside.

Whispers followed him.

Then laughter.

"Did you hear what happened to him?"

"He thinks he can be like his father."

A boy stepped forward, shoving Yowai hard.

"He was a hero," the bully sneered.

"You're just a loser."

Yowai fell to the ground.

"I'm sorry…" he muttered.

"I'm sorry…"

Suddenly—

Everything froze.

The wind stopped. Voices died. Even time itself seemed to hold its breath.

A crushing aura flooded the street.

A dark portal opened.

From it stepped a cloaked figure, tall and unnatural. A staff rested in his hand, and death radiated from his presence.

"Your time is near," the cloaked demon said.

"The Gates of the Afterlight call your names."

Villagers trembled, unable to move.

"Monsters from a realm beyond hell will descend," he continued.

"One beast will destroy half this kingdom. Then the rest will follow—until your world falls."

Another portal opened.

A massive beast emerged.

It began destroying everything.

The attack lasted for hours.

When it finally ended, the beast returned through the portal.

Silence followed.

Only ruins remained.

The Royal Palace

The king, queen, and counselors gathered in panic.

"What do we do?" a counselor cried.

"Should we ask other kingdoms for help?"

The general clenched his fists.

"If we couldn't stop that thing," he said grimly,

"then it's hopeless."

Fear spread like a disease.

The Forest

Yowai limped through the forest alone.

His body hurt. His heart felt heavier.

"Is this the end?" he thought.

"Will everyone die?"

His legs gave out.

He collapsed.

When he looked up—

A demon stood before him.

Wounded. Broken.

Yet terrifying.

It was Fuga.

"I can help you get what you want," Fuga said,

"if you help me get what I want."

Yowai swallowed.

"How?"

"I'll give you my power," Fuga replied.

"I can no longer use it."

"But there are conditions."

"I can never take my power back."

"I will be reborn within your consciousness."

"You will obey every command I give—or suffer a penalty."

"This is a binding vow."

Yowai clenched his fists.

This is the only way…

"…I accept."

The Binding Vow

Blood flowed from both of them.

Fuga began to chant.

"Black heart to red heart.

Fill this being with black craft, power, and dominion over the other world.

Let him be my successor."

Yowai rose into the air.

His eyes turned white.

"Arise, mortal," Fuga said.

"And be immortal."

Darkness consumed everything.
