Chapter 2 - System

"Four empty slots with a stacking capacity of fifty..."

"Not bad..."

"And million copper coins..."

"I wonder how much I can achieve with all that...?"

Johnny signed at the huge amount of copper coins,as he wondered how valuable the copper coins were since from his quick comparison,it seemed that one gold coin was equivalent to a hundred silver coins and one silver coin was equivalent to ten thousand copper coins.

From this,he understood that as in his previous world, gold was a metal of high value, while copper though valuable than iron,it rank lowest in monetary value.

"A million copper coins may not be much, but if their circulation is low..."

Johnny thoughts were cut short by the servant girl, who had returned with some weird looking fluid on a small copper jar.

"Forgive me young master, but the physician insisted that I bring you your medicine..."

The servant girl said with a bow.

"Fine..."

Johnny said as he sat back, waiting for the servant girl to pour him the medicine.

"Damn...!"

Johnny exclaimed as he spat the mouthful of medicine he had drank.

"What the hell is this...!"

He inquired as he handed the servant girl the ceramic mug.

Johnny did not know how to describe the taste of the medicine,it was sour, bitter, hot and disgusting, all at the same time, while its viscosity was as thick as mucus and its smelt like rotten eggs and dead rats.

"Take it back..."

Johnny said to the confused servant girl.

"But..."

The servant girl was not sure of what to say.

For years, the young master had tolerated the potion's disgusting taste, but today was different. She wondered wether the physician had changed the potion.

"Tell the physician that I will not be drinking that slime anymore..."

And with that, Johnny went back to viewing the transparent blue system screen that was only visible to him.

"Slime..."

The servant girl did not what to say or do. She quietly left the tent, dreading the scolding she would be receiving from the Creed of Three.

The Creed of Three was a nickname the servants, slaves and militia assigned to the young master, used to refer to the butler, the physician and the militia captain.

Amongst the whole entourage, the scribe was an exemption. Though he wilded more power than the servants, the militia and the slaves,he was a humble person and treated everyone equally and just, unlike the Creed of Three.

"I bet the medicine is what making me sick...!"

Johnny mentally grunted,he pitied Xclaimer for having endured all those years taking the potion.

"Let's see what kind of territory is Millville..."

"Pathetic...!"

Johnny mentally exclaimed.

The state of his new fief was no different than nothing. There were not even a single town.

"Am doomed..."

Johnny's shoulders dropped as he went through the territory panel a few more times.

"At least trade levels are high..."

He wondered wether the mining was the reason,as it could not be agriculture. He deduced that with the practically non-existent agriculture,Millville had to trade the iron mined for foodstuffs.

As for craftsmanship,it must have been a result of the demand for mining tools.

"And what with that low security percentage...?"

"So little fame...!"

""Pathetic..."

Johnny sighed once more as he moved on to the quest panel.

What he did not understand was that Millville, despite being at the furthest reach of the kingdom,it was well known, spoken of in noble balls and the noble courts, but not a single noble would dare apply to have it assigned to them.

This was simply because of Millville high level of insecurity.

Millville was famous for three things.

Firstly,it was for its vast and hundreds of iron mines. Secondly, for its hidden pockets of refined iron, and thirdly, was the high level of insecurity.

Many from the noble households had been sent over only for them to return as ghosts and memories.

The mining, smelting and trade of iron in Millville was under the control of various factions, most of them being bandits, thugs or gangs.

All this, Johnny would come to learn very soon, making him realize that his assignment to the territory of Millville was more of a death sentence. A death sentence from his father,Duke of Windstream, who had requested the King to assign him this God forsaken and dangerous territory.

In his father's mind, this was not a death sentence, but rather a father's act of love.

The Duke had received word, from the team of physicians that watched over his son,of his imminent demise in at most half an year.

It pained him to know that his most and favourite son was going to pass, and as a father,he wanted nothing but to spend every single second they still had together. But he did not want his son to be remembered as he were. A sick, weak and pathetic duke's son,he wanted his son's name to be sung by ballads and stories of his bravery told to all.

He had consulted with his advisors and the only path forward was to have him die in battle, but Chulu Kingdom had been at peace with its neighbors for decades.

That's when the first born daughter of his,who had happened to have been visiting his family suggested they send him over to Millville.

She had married into the Skytower Duchess household,as to strength their bond between the two dukedoms. Her husband's seventh brother had ventured to Millville as its new Baron, only for him and his entourage to never return.

His was an entourage of two hundred servants, slaves, diplomats, professionals and a small army of three hundred, all killed by the local factions of Millville.

Since then, this seventh son of the duchess had his name sung and stories of his courage into venturing where no noble dared were told to all.

This idea had been well received by the duke's court, and do the application letter was sent to the King.

To the masses,it was Xclaimer Windstream, the sickly son of the Duke who had personally requested to be assigned to the Millville Territory.

Though he was weak, the dukedom's habitats loved him as he was one of the kindest soul and also a great scholar.

They pitied the fact that the gods had cursed him with a weak body.
