Chapter 3 - Millville

But the news of him leaving for Millville had shocked them. They all knew that he would not be coming back, but his act of courage had further warmed their hearts, and most had gathered to see him off, only to be surprised by the small entourage that were to accompany him, there was not even a single soldier or warrior amongst them.

The professionals that he had picked to accompany him were of the lowest rank,an intermediate physician,a low ranked butler and apprentice scribe.

After asking around, they learnt that Xclaimer Windstream had refused his father's aid, insisting that the entourage he had picked was enough.

He argued that as a man,he had to proof his worth and capability through his own strength and means, and not by his father's hand.

This had worn the commoners hearts, but what they did not know was that all that were rumours and propagandas spread by the duke's court. Xclaimer Windstream had received the news of his assignment calmly,as a scholar,he had understood his father's view, and agreed to it, though it pained him to die a lie.

His father had offered him an army of a thousand men,but he could not let so many die for him,and so he insisted on a small entourage.

His plan was simple,he would let them leave the moment they reached the borders of Millville territory, granting them their freedom. To Xclaimer,he could not stomach the guilt of having even his slaves die for him. Unfortunately,he had died before he could grant them their freedom. As for his body,it had been inhabited by a man who had grown to look at troubles, challenges, obstacles and impossibilities in the eye before fucking them over.

This man was a lieutenant, Lieutenant Johnny Davis, known to his enemies as the their nightmares nightmare.

Though he had received more than a hundred promotions in ranks,he had declined all, insisting on keeping his small squad.

In a period of three years, his squad had killed more terrorist than the army itself, rescued hundreds of hostages and assassinated tens of drug lords.

In short, they had made the world a better place,by choosing to bloody their hands and scar their souls from all the killings. This was a sacrifice they had to leave with, for their country. A country that had deemed them a threat.

If Johnny were to learn that their deaths were the act of his superiors,he would fight the gods to transmigrate him back so he could rain havoc on all involved. Luckily for those superiors, the gods had a different plan for Johnny, who was currently going through the quest panel.

As for transport, they had twelve horse drawn carriages that made up his traveling caravan.

"Am really doomed..."

Johnny thought after he went through the notifications.

"Hope the system shop has something good.

Johnny thought as he went through the system shop a couple more times, thankfully, the system had decided to start him off with a free a hundred points.

"Now that I know my cards, let's see how large this territory is..."

He retrieved the map of Millville from his inventory, unfurling it,the first thing that shocked him was the size of the fief.

Millville,a distant backwater territory was the size of a small country in his previous world.

"Panama must be a one gigantic world..."

Johnny thought as he went through the map.

He noticed that Millville's topography was dynamic, but most regions, actually about two thirds of it was what one could call mountainous, hilly, rocky and barren, while the remaining regions were either planes or massive tracts of forest.

The Cone Valley they were camped in actually connected with the Millville's forest at the west.

"These must be the settlements..."

On the map were sixty small huts, with most congregating on the barren and mountainous region.

"These must be where most of the mines are..."

Johnny thought.
