Elena's POV
Guilt crashed over me as I watched Dorian disappear down the hospital hallway. Maybe I didn't need to snap at him like that, but what choice did I have?
He could never see Oliver. Ever.
I turned toward Minnie and the guy standing next to her.
"That was brutal," Minnie murmured.
My cheeks burned. "Yeah. Sorry about that."
The memory of being in Dorian's car flooded back, making my blush deepen. I coughed, trying to shake it off.
"I need to handle Oliver's stuff," I told Minnie, deliberately avoiding eye contact with her companion.
"Sure. I'll be right here," Minnie said.
I nodded and headed for the doctor's office.
Perfect timing—someone had just walked out. I knocked and waited.
"Come in," came the doctor's voice. When I stepped inside, he half-stood. "Hello, ma'am."
"Hi Doctor," I said with a smile. "I'm ready to pay, and thanks again. You saved my boy."
His face brightened as he settled back down. "My pleasure, ma'am. Just doing what I'm trained for."
