Chapter 2 - My name is,

Who? Joshua Foley that name was so familiar, but I can't seem to place where I've heard it before. It's been on my mind since I heard my name. I am 100% sure I've heard it before, maybe in another life's memories I could find it there. The problem is, where to look? It's not like I have google in my head.

It has been 16 years since I found out my name, and growing up in New York has been interesting to say the least. New York would have been exciting to live in even in my past life. My parents are quite wealthy and I've taken full advantage of it. Everything from learnkng skills like martial arts, musical instruments, and even private tutoring. The best part is all the diverse food I've gotten to eat!

There's one of the downside to this life. I am currently in a cult like meeting. I don't want to be in it, hell I tried to get out of it by citing homework, it is too bad my parents insisted I come. I'm currently just focused on the food. One good thing about these meetings, the bbq is good. If I have to be here I'm going to eat all the food and maybe put a dent in their wallets.

"...and with the attack on Culver University it's obvious these freaks are everywhere. Our greatest hope wasn't given to one of our brothers but that n****r . What the hell was Stark thinking. I say we march on Washington and show them we are here, we have the numbers, and we can take back control of the country and beat freaks like that green thing that attacked Culver."

"How many have already agreed? When eould we march?"

"Well we are just starting to gather people up and coordinating between states.".

"Besides what we really need to worry about are those freaks that are good at hiding. Like that boxer who had steel skin under his gloves."

Oof it seems like this going to be a while. Might as well help myself to a second plate. I start heading over and see s gorgeous blone woman, she looks exactly like vice-captain of a sci-fi series I loved what was it called again? Orwell? ( Note It's The Orville and actress Adrianne Palicki I found her character premise there funny. Plays the ex of the captain beatdriends with the actor that is her real lofe ex.) It is really a shame to a beauty liie her in this group. I just mind my business and start grabbing more food.

"Hey kid seems like you're here for the food? Not interested in the meeting?" She whispers to me.

"Hey lady," I intentionally mirrored back if she was going to be rude I will be too."I'm just hungry and a little stressed about all the homework I have to finish. Besides I'm here with my parents."

I start walking over to my spot at an empty table outside the circle of adults. I notice that she's following me. I look at her quizically, and was about to ask when she whispers.

"I'm in the same boat you are. Here for the food, stressing about work, here with my husband," as she pointedly looks at a man closest to us. The man looks like a more rugged version of an actor in a facoritedark comedy of mine in another life, Say My Name. I never knew the actor's name as I think that was the only place I saw him.

"Besides he'll fill me in on any important details. You didn't really answer my question, what do you think of the meeting?"

"Not much to think about. Like I said thinking about homework. The bit I caught? The big green? I don't know what a protest is supposed to do? Maybe stop government experiments?"

"What government experiments? We are talking about people with superpowers needing to be registered. Also the second iron man."

"Oh, yeah i only caught the Culver University part and marching on Washington. That guy screamed government experiment. How else were the army there right when it happened? It seems like they were hunting it. Maybe it got loose or something."

Her moutch twithed just a bit, at that statement. Interesting she knows something about it. I vaguely remember that green guy, but she seems connected to it? Some sort of military intelligence officer? Ugh why are my memories so hazy.

"Look no offense, but I just want to est and try and relax as much as possible. Can we leave it at that please?"

"Alright"

The meeting took another couple of hours.

"Hey nom, Can I head over to the McEwens? I can ask James for some help with homework he's pretty good with Physics and Math."

"You're still habging out with that boy? You guys aren't going to go hang out with those yellow monkeys again are you? It worries me whenever you fom"

"No mom we're not going to Chinatown. I just need help designong this experiment so I can head over to the University tomorrow to finish the assignment."

"Okay just be back before 10"

'Got it mom, thanks!"

With that I parted ways with my parents. They would probably linger around before heading back to Flushings. My mom was right though, James would probably drag me to Chinatown once I got there. I had texted him this morning about Hooke's Law and he told me to come over and he'd help. He's weird, but my best friend in this life. He loves going to Chinatown, his parents even swear that he spoke Chinese without any lessons. I texted James that I was finally on my way over before taking out my iPod an listening to some tunes. Primo Victoria by Sabaton came on as I waited the train to Harlem.
