Chapter 36 - The Bond Awakens

Where did this little wolf pup come from?

"Sir, please hurry! I can't hold it in anymore!" Jared's small hands gripped the fabric of Elliot's pants, his little face flushed with urgency and innocence. My wolf senses flared immediately every instinct in me recognized the urgency, the helplessness, and the unspoken trust he placed in this Alpha before him.

Elliot's voice rumbled low, calm yet commanding. "Alright, I'll take you there." Even in his measured tone, there was an unmistakable pull of dominance, a pack instinct that told the boy he was safe.

The elevator doors slid open with a soft ding. Elliot bent smoothly, lifting Jared into his arms as though the boy weighed nothing, his stride confident, full of Alpha energy that made even the air around him tense with authority. I could feel it reverberating in my chest the primal presence of the pack Alpha, steady and protective.

Inside the bathroom, Elliot crouched, keeping a vigilant watch as Jared relieved himself. Every muscle in Elliot's body radiated control and protection; even a predator in the wild could learn something about guarding its own from this stance.

When Jared finished, he straightened and finally remembered manners, his small voice clear and polite. "Thank you, Sir."

Elliot's curiosity, always tinged with pack awareness, surfaced. "What's your name? Why are you here?"

"My name is Jared Tillman, and I came to accompany my mommy to work," he answered without hesitation, his voice carrying the confidence and clarity of a young wolf born into the bloodline of a strong pack.

Elliot's dark eyes narrowed thoughtfully. "Is your mother Anastasia Tillman?" His tone was careful, testing the currents of the pack instinct that stirred faintly between them.

"Do you know my mommy, Sir?" The question, innocent as it seemed, carried subtle confidence. A child who spoke with such clarity often had instincts sharper than many adults.

Elliot didn't answer immediately. His Alpha mind cataloged every detail the boy's stance, his energy, the quiet strength that even a child could exude. Anastasia's son, carrying her bloodline, radiated hints of power even in this small form.

Jared ran to wash his hands, glancing at the tall man's reflection in the mirror. "Sir, we look like each other!" His voice rang with the kind of unfiltered observation only a child with keen pack instincts could have.

Elliot froze. For the first time, the Alpha allowed himself to scrutinize the child's features, and a silent recognition ignited in his senses. The resemblance was undeniable eyes, eyebrows, nose, lips, even the subtle curve of the jaw. This was no ordinary child; his blood carried a reflection of Elliot himself.

"Sir, are you single? Do you have a girlfriend?" Jared tilted his small head, eyes shining with curiosity and expectation, as though testing the pack bonds between them.

Elliot observed, reading every intention behind those large, sincere eyes. He understood exactly what the little wolf was thinking: this child wanted a strong protector for his pack, a mate for his mother, and a stable Alpha to command their lives. Despite knowing the child's intentions, Elliot spoke honestly, his deep voice steady. "Yes, I'm single. I don't have a girlfriend."

Jared's little face lit up with determination. "Then will you consider my mommy? She's young, beautiful, has a good figure, and she's kind. She cooks well too." His tiny chest puffed out with pride, advertising his mother as if presenting a mate to the pack. Even at his age, his instincts were sharp: he wanted to secure a bond, a protector, a stable Alpha for their pack.

Elliot's gaze darkened with surprise, yet a spark of amusement flickered in his eyes. This little pup was braver than most, and his instincts were remarkable. Narrowing his eyes, Elliot responded with measured authority, his words carrying both promise and challenge: "Then you'll have to ask her if she's willing to join me. If she is… I will honor the bond and take her hand."

Jared's small eyes gleamed with triumph, as though he had just brokered a pact between the strongest Alpha and his beloved mother. I watched silently, a pang of awe and pride mingling with protective instincts, knowing that from this moment, the threads of pack, blood, and bond had begun to intertwine in ways none of us could yet fully understand.

The pack had shifted. The game had begun. And the bond between Alpha and pup, mate and child, would reshape all their lives.

Jared blinked up at Elliot with those wide, shining eyes of his, full of awe and excitement. The boy's small chest swelled with pride, because the Alpha before him so powerful, so commanding had just said he would marry his mother without hesitation. That was no small thing in a pack governed by strength and loyalty.

"All right, I'll ask for you. But first… what's your name?" I watched as Jared wiped his hands dry and nodded earnestly, as if sealing a pact he already felt deep in his instincts.

"My name is Elliot Presgrave," the man's voice rumbled low and magnetic, resonating with the kind of authority that made every nerve in my body alert.

"Okay! Got it!" Jared's tail or the little wiggle of excitement he didn't even know he had betrayed how committed he was to remembering. He lingered a moment longer beside Elliot, clearly reluctant to let go of the connection. His instincts, pure and untainted, were drawn to the Alpha energy radiating from him.

"Sir, my mommy's in a meeting now… can I come to your office to play?" The boy's tone was hopeful, earnest, and entirely unafraid.

"Of course," Elliot replied, a small curve of amusement in his eyes. He bent slightly to lead the boy down the hall, his posture protective, alpha, instinctively commanding, as if shielding this small packmate from the world.

That's when two employees appeared from the opposite side of the corridor. Their eyes widened in shock at the sight: Elliot Presgrave, the Alpha of the corporate pack, walking with a small boy in tow.

"President Presgrave… is that… your son? He's adorable!" one gasped.

"Yes! And he looks just like you!" the other added, astonished.

Elliot paused, studying the boy beside him. Do we really look so similar? My instincts told me he wasn't my blood, but still… something about this pup stirred a protectiveness deep in my core. An inexplicable, fierce affinity. I found myself wanting to shield him, to nurture him, to claim him in the way an Alpha claims a part of his pack.

His grandmother had been right: there was something vital, something magnetic about the connection to a young wolf who belonged to my pack whether by blood or fate.

Back in the meeting room, Grace burst through the door, her face a mixture of panic and urgency. "Anastasia! Jared is missing!"

"What?" My heart leapt, claws of instinct digging in. I sprang to my feet without hesitation and raced from the room. The pack alert the primal need to protect my own was kicking in full force. Jared wasn't in the office. Grace had scoured the floor, checking every corner, but he was gone.

And then an assistant from the 8th floor appeared, panting slightly as they handed over some documents. "Miss Tillman… I saw a child with President Presgrave just now!"

Everything froze in me. My heart thudded not just as a mother, but as a wolf in the wild, sensing the movement of my packmate, feeling the threads of an unspoken bond linking Elliot and my son. That bond, raw and instinctual, was older and stronger than any bloodline.

Jared was safe… for now. But the realization struck me in waves: my son had already begun weaving himself into a world ruled by Alphas, dominance, and instinctive pack loyalty. And Elliot, that commanding presence, had already unknowingly claimed a piece of my heart and of my son's.

The hunt had begun, but this time, it wasn't just about territory. It was about bonds, protection, and the unyielding instincts that tied one pack to another.

Jared… my little wolf pup… had unknowingly led me into the presence of an Alpha who could change everything.
